    My favourite race of 2022, 32 degrees air temperature, roughly 482 degrees in the car, exhaust and gearbox roasting the floorpan, boiled the brake fluid, paddock hill bend got a bit scary when the brake pedal went to the floor, held it together and finished P2 to James Dorlin.

    I know this might be a dumb question - I read in another Video description of yours, that there’s no Power Steering in this car (as was the case for all GTV6), but judging by the angle of the steering wheel i guess that there has to be done some modification to the steering. Either a quick steering kit or a de-powered rack of a 75TS. Would be awesome if you can comment back on that since I am kinda looking at my options for my GTV6 right now.
    Nice driving, nice car :) love it

      Hi Chris, no there's no PAS, it's just a standard GTV6 steering rack. My dad has another GTV6 race car which has got a 75 Power Steering setup, hopefully we'll get some on board footage in that next year and you'll be able to see him steering one handed 😂😂

      I shall be corrected then 😅. I just thought it looks like you require less steering angle to go around corners than normally on a GTV6 (because their steering is known to be craazy long/ slow ratio)
      This is actually the reason I am thinking of putting the 75 rack in there - I would like to loop the lines tho because Powersteering takes away some response time and feedback. Do you know if the rack swap can be done with the engine still in? (I got the later chassis 1985)
      Thanks :)

      @@Automotive_Passionista the only main difference is steering wheel size and it's spaced more to the driver by about 20-30mm. A friend of mine has just been swapping steering racks out of his car with the engine in, I think it's a bit fiddly but do-able.

      Love it - thanks for the response. I am also driving with 330mm wheel and spacer. But the steering is heavy because I drive 205/50/15 nangkang ar1. Hopefully I will sort out my steering column play and if so I will report back whether the job is doable with the engine in or not (has to be because I have no lift) cheers and much fun with your and your dads car next season again :))

      @@Automotive_Passionista this year I've been racing it on 205/55/15 Yokohama AO52's, they're quite expensive but definitely worth it in my opinion, we have also used Toyo R888Rs with a 195/50/15 size, I prefer the Yokohama's but my dad prefers the Toyo's.
      Yes! Be great to hear how you get on.

    Nice work. What are some of the engine mods if any on this 2.5 liter lump? Running "S" cams, tube headers, ignitions mods? Thanks

      Hi Mark, thanks! It's a standard engine other than high lift cams, csc exhaust manifolds and a modified fuel pressure regulator.

      Hi! Thanks very much. It's actually a Group 1 spec GTV6 :)

      @@jakemargaliesracing Thanks for the answer! That's really cool! Is the engine and drivetrain similar to the group A or is there any differences?

    • @jakemargaliesracing
      @jakemargaliesracing  Год назад

      @@pmracing4207 the main visual difference between group 1 and group A, is that in group a, they could run bigger wheels than they came from factory and also the race modifications on group a cars were much more subtle/hidden, everything had to 'look' standard.
