- When the French first came across the Sac or Sac, they were a group of Native Americans from the Northeastern Woodlands who were mainly located in the area around what is now Green Bay, Wisconsin. This was in 1667. These days, they have three federally recognized tribes in Iowa, Oklahoma, and Kansas, which they frequently coexist alongside the Meskwaki (Fox).
