Fact is Messi is Barcelona and this club will never be the same without him. 🥺
Thanks for your reaction, that was really emotional. Messi is one of the most humble and shy players I've ever seen. ❤️

Barcelona were in big debt (1.3 Billion) and they could not be allowed to keep him as per Fair Play regulations because of how much he costs. Messi offered to lower his salary, but by Spanish law a new signing can not earn less than 50% of their previous contract, so even at 50% of his salary, it would not be enough. So he had to leave the club.
Btw the commentator you asked about is Roy Hudson.

He is the Goat 🐐. I never seen such a talent and all round player in one man. That’s literally impossible thing. He compared with greatest like Pele, Maradona. Yet he’s better than them in mamy aspects. True football fans know there is no place for cr7 there.

Every club has it's own youth academy where they develop their own talents and groom them to become players that fit into the system of the 1st team. Some clubs don't really give their academy prospect chances and rather buy talents from elsewhere, other clubs completely depend on their academy talents, academy talents don't cost anything but you need good staff and infrastructure to develop top players and not every club has that. Clubs like Barcelona, Ajax, BVB, Benfica, Porto have some of the best academies in the world and always rely on their own talents. As a fan it's always special when a talent of your club's own academy becomes a key player in the squad, they're always fan favorites cause most of them grew up in the same town as the fans and they know the values and identity of the club better than players that you buy from elsewhere, often you will see academy graduates play with more heart and pride for the badge on their shirt.

Suarez was imo the greatest striker of the 2010's, he even outscored prime Messi and prime Ronaldo in one season, you gotta check out his top 30 goals 🔥

Are you sure? Messi has the world history record for goals in one calendar year. (91 goals) And if you only look at the season, Messi scored 73 one season. I don’t think Suarez ever got close to that.

Short explanation of his career and barcelona and why he had to leave. During the early part of his career 2007-2012, barcelona had the best coach and the best players and were probably the best team ever. Then the coach (Pep Guardiola) left and they were still a very good team but not as good as they were. Between 2012 and 2017 they still had some of the best players in the world like Suarez and Neymar so they were still one of the best teams in the world just not as dominant as before.
The problem has been that for the last 6 or 7 years all their best players from the golden era in 2010 have gotten old & left/retired. Neymar left to PSG and so Messi had been solo carrying them but they were nowhere near one of the best teams in the world. They still won some titles in Spain but they were not as good as English and German teams.
In the background, the president of Barcelona had gotten them into big financial problems. Getting the club into huge debts buying players and putting them on crazy salaries (there is no salary cap like in US Sports). The problem is that all these players the president bought in to try and replace the aging stars ended up being flops and so the team sucked and they were in huge debt. They were paying over 650m a year in salaries to players.
In 2022 after COVID, barcelona were put into strict financial constraints where they had to massively reduce debts and their wage bill, because of this it meant they could not afford to pay Messi's salary. The only possible way they could re sign him was if he agreed to play for free, which was completely unrealistic, so he was essentially forced to leave.

“I offered to reduce my salary by 50 per cent" Messi said in an interview. He wouldn’t have been able to take any more than a 50 per cent cut due to a clause in Spanish employment law that is in place to avoid financial manipulation. So playing for free was never possible.
