- What began as a wet motorcycle trip to Tellico Plains for a weekend of riding in the mountains turned into quite the adventure. David found himself in quite the predicament with his bike upside down on the side of a mountain with impending bad weather right on his heels and a brand new insta360 missing in action. Watch to see the outcome of how a 600+ lb motorcycle gets handled when in a difficult situation.

I often carry a winch but didn’t have it that day of course lol.
This is really good, production is great, very interesting story, narration on point---look forward to seeing more. The GS is a bad bike, loved that it fired up on the first try, BMW should use that:)

Oh man, I hate seeing that GS upside down like that.. but like a boss it cranked right up! Glad no one was injured. We had a "Silverwing Stunt show" during our last trip to Tellico Plains. Slid 30ft down into the Bald River.. pulled it out and it cranked right up.. spitting water out of the tail pipe and raring to go.. I have a short video of it on my channel if you're interested. We were lucky and had a couple of 4x4s that came by and were able to pull it right out using a Jeep's winch. Zero cost recovery FTW!

Seriously, David! That was an AWESOME episode!!! In spite of the lost footage (we experienced a lost GoPro in Moab and know the pain), you did a great job telling the story. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride. And I'm glad all ended well in spite of what happened!!!
yes I watched that video talking about the lost GoPro... these cameras are "action cameras" but no one ever talks about when they disappear lol.. hurts a bit more when you can't replace it on fb marketplace for a couple hundred... I'm thinking about RFID tags on my stuff. I am the worst about losing stuff..

This was excellent because it wasn’t merely a this was a great riding experience with beautiful scenery/friendly riders, but told a full story. Of course, you don’t want to go testing your mortality to that extent just to make a video, but given the accident, you told the story well. Thanks.

Lookup Citico creek and Indian boundary campground. That will put you on it. Nice loop.

OMG it sounds like you did the same thing I did except I needed a lot more help then a tow truck. Bike and I went all the way down.

@@aMAYSingLife I was VERY lucky, broke my C3, T4 and T10 but had no spinal cord damage, spent 3 months in a brace and some physical therapy. The insurance totaled the bike. It didn't look bad but you start pricing out BMW parts and it adds up fast. Progressive was awesome. The crazy part was you described exactly what happened to me. I wasn't going fast, maybe 25, hit a little mud under some leaves and down I went. If it hadn't been for the drop off it probably would have been nothing, maybe a little beat up.
@@rodneyaiken1742 Crazy how fast it can happen.. I was very fortunate for it not to have been worse. Those two little twigs was all that changed a non-event to a total.. Amazing you got away without spinal cord damage.. Grateful for that..

Green Chilies 5-1 z-drag system. Highly recommend just in general but especially if traveling alone. Would let even a solo rider get the bike up the hill and back on the road.

Great Video, any damage to the GS? They are a tough bike. What tires do you use?
I can’t remember what I had on at that time but i have the Dunlap trailmax mission on now and really like it. I believe I had a pretty worn tkc-80 on the front at the time. No damage to the bike miraculously.. no tire would have saved me on that fall though.. I was paying attention more to filming the person behind me and got too close to the edge and tried to fix and over did it. Leaves where on top and it was wet underneath and poof there I went.. thanks for watching!
This is the very reason I carry tow straps on my adventure bike. It gives you a fighting chance to pull the bike up on the road. Of your course with help of friends, it makes it a possibility to recover the bike by yourselves. Say, 2 pulling from the road or trail and 1 pushing up. I'm not saying it would be easy but at least you can do something. Otherwise, you might end up sleeping overnight on the trail or maybe even longer. Tow companies and I think even AAA refuse to recover vehicles off road.
I actually have a winch that I usually carry. Not that day unfortunately
That said had I used the winch I would have likely caused far more than 300 in damage.
@@aMAYSingLife Too bad. Yea, of course the recovery you need to assess yourself what makes sense or important to you. In your case, towing was an option apparently and maybe covered by insurance also. I view self recovery as a lifeline or towing does not make sense or unavailable

300 cash. Actually a good deal considering how long it took him to get to me and get out.

Actually speed was ok as it wasn’t raining until after I went down.. placement is what was off as I went too far inside and got in the leaves. Too busy trying to film the person behind me... always an adventure.

Lucky for sure.. Oddly regarding tires I was intending to do a review on the rear tire about how well it was performing under a myriad of conditions. it was the front that washed out and it was a decent tkc-80. that said, the statement regarding too close to the edge.. yeah.. agreed.. that was my screw up..
Great vid and story. Glad you didn't get hurt. The key to your bike rescue is the wrecker with the boom pole. I had a similar situation in Slovenia, but it wasn't ME who crashed the bike into a rubber-side up predicament. Can’t say I would have let anyone take my bike off road without knowing if they could handle it.. certainly made for an adventure..
@@aMAYSingLife Well he handled that little light 250 two-stroke ;) When you're loaded up like I am is a huge consideration. I woulda had no issue climbing back up the hill, but going down that gnarly drainage rut-ridden track - I opted out and perhaps would've done better than him. But then again, I wouldn't have the story! Cheers!

Over loaded bike in pouring rain on a curvy mountain rd gee wat could go wrong.seems like he should have waited for rain to stop.
you must not have watched the video... The rain happened after it flipped over. and i didn't have bags on it so it wasn't overloaded. Thanks for commenting though.

Those eggs were so dry and disgusting. Do you you have bad taste or is that what we should expect?
I normally ask for eggs over medium but failed to say this time so they were cooked a lot more than usual. They did have a good taste though. But just remember to specify how you want your eggs and it will be as you desire them. I also didn't take the time to ask for new eggs as I most certainly could have and Wayne would have been happy to replace them. It simply wasn't a big deal to me as riding was my bigger focus.

I actually sold mine this past year.. I think I’ll get somethjg like a Norden next time.. these things are nimble but you run on a smaller margin of error all the time while off road
