Okay. I hate it when people ship kids for the romance, but like, if you're saying that it would be good representation or something, I kinda hate it less? Is that bad? 'Cause Luca could've been something groundbreaking. (Obviously, no matter who you are, if you want kids to be in an actual relationship, especially physical, then please kindly throw yourself out the nearest window, hell nah, but like, feelings that are slightly more then platonic is what I meant.)
personally I think that teenagers (Luca and Alberto are teenagers) are capable of, yknow, crushes??? its not that hard to think about lol. People are definitely creepy if they want a physical one though.
@@dhdjjeddhdjejd8468 I guess? I kind of hate any plot that involves kids having romantic feelings. The only logical thing I can thin of which doesn't make me immediately vomit is that maybe they've known each other so well or for so long that feelings of closeness get blurred in terms of platonic/romantic as time goes on. Luca could do that, as I feel that their sharing in being sea monsters and the unique experience and complex emotions of that experience could form feelings of closeness. Really, at the end of the day, the message is that Pixar and Disney are cowards. Regardless of how *we* believe this stuff should be shown morally, both companies have done romantic plotlines before with kids with less build up then this. Personally, if a genie asked me "What are your three wishes?" all three would be "That Disney never became a thing". Think of all the kids who have been robbed of whatever joy Disney is supposed to bring because their idealised, eurocentric, "safe" characters and perfect world would slam the door in their faces.
@@sevengrapes-gi1io Juliet was 13. Actually, don't get me started on Romeo & Juliet, it'll end worse than Hamlet. Or Macbeth. Or basically anything Shakespeare. It's just like that in the past stuff, right? I do think there's ethics to having kids like each other in film, which is why me need to make sure that the topic of debate here stays in representation rather than "Do these minors like each other?" because that'll attract weirdos. Also ethics or whatever. Even as someone who's roughly Luca, Alberto, and Giulia's age, it's uncomfortable.
