This is the first time I see this level, but MY GOD, even by Defender's high standards, this was INSANE. Absolute kudos to Defender, and GG to Geek for falling for ever-... I mean... for playing through it like a champ! Will have to re-watch this to pick a favorite moment. From a technical perspective, probably the red/blue voodoo. From a humor angle, I think the majestic launcher rocket launch made me laugh the hardest for some reason.
As the Elder Chancellor of the Troll Elders' Council, every Defender level has it's touch of uniqueness and mind-blowingness. No two of his levels are alike and the hype for Dummy World is getting at insane levels
Defender is a master... I haven't seen a troll this good since the "Jk it's an auto level / Jk x2, It's not an auto level / Jk x3, it's an auto level" inception madness
It's fitting that this is for an art exhibition; I'm always struggling to explain the ridiculous talent and ingenuity that goes into Mario Maker troll levels and why they're so fun to watch, and I think this is the perfect level to demonstrate it.
I think Defender deliberately put less effort hiding the contraptions in this level. So that visitors of the exhibition, who may not be as familiar with Mario maker level construction, mechanics, and limitations, can get a small glimpse of just how much work goes into making the level do the funny. If that is the case, nicely done.
Wow... the level of complexity/ingenuity these troll creators makes, are getting higher and higher. And me, I just sit here like a human question-block :-/
What?! I honestly feared we'd never again see a proper Defender level before Mario Maker 3, given the progress reports on Super Dummy World. What a delightful surprise! Now, time to enjoy a lady's despair.
This troll level is like The Ultimate Reverse Dummy Card, where Defender Instantly Wins and the other players receive 1031 Dummy Cards (or maybe Dummy Tags) each. So Freaking Amazing!!!
I mapped out the tiles for the RED/BLUE sign. For "RED", Defender had to destroy the ice block in the bottom-middle of the R/B, another in the top-right of the D/U, and of course all of the final E (five frozen coins and five ice blocks, if it matters). For "BLUE", he had to destroy the frozen coin in the bottom-RIGHT of the R/B, three frozen coins in the E/L, the frozen coin in the bottom-left of the D/U, and the ice block in the top-middle of the D/U. That is an *INSANE* amount of invisible, precise engineering put into one layer of a troll level with an absurd number of layers. …I half-expected there to somehow be a kaizo block over the saw at 43:16 that was never there before, but I guess it ended up having one last hidden-block troll after all.
I notice this version, R22, was just uploaded a few days ago; Carl did R21, uploaded 8/11, and Tanuki Dan played R6, uploaded 7/21 (an average of five revisions a week from 6 to 21). Is Defender still revising the level, or is he pretty much satisfied? I don't have SMM2, so I can't check to see if there's an R23.
One more comment: I've seen Defender grumble in his videos about how many troll levels use "haha, keydeath, jk here's the key anyway" nowadays, so I figured he had to have something more original up his sleeve after the key door. I was NOT expecting… THAT.
There's lots of troll levels that have you ask yourself "How?!", but this.. this is a whole new level, a mind-boggling madness masterpiece. Kudos to the Dummy!
26:10 “What is wrong with humans if they dodge the coin?!” 37:00 Sudden realization. 38:51 Actual realization. 43:30 “Okay. No more surprises…” 43:30 Sees well known hidden block indicator from every well designed troll level. Doesn’t test it out before jumping for the goal.
After seeing the rest of the video - i redact my comment. For the "no short cuts", i'm guessing you skipped the 1st room of the sequence in the replay?
@@marklonergan3898 Skipped the coin in the first room, as the required path to beat the level at the end, but without getting to the point of learning that's how.
I just thought it was something as simple as an off-screen bomb that didn't activate if you didn't go in the 1st door (only room i could think of that you could skip as a short-cut). Are you saying it was actually triggered by the fact she never went to the room that told her not to grab the 1st coin?
The easiest way for English speakers to pronounce unendlich would probably be something like "Oon Antlick" (the ch sound at the end is actually more similar to the j sound in jalapeño or Juan but for native English speakers that's not exactly natural or easy either) And GfZK stands for "Gallerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst" which translates to " Gallery for contemporary art". Fitting for this artful troll exhibition^^.
Good that Defender dropped off one troll from earlier versions of this level which was very nasty -- had to figure out that hitting a hidden block in one section is required to pass another section
Imagine being that guy who just plays the right order, dodges all trolls and misses that one red coin and decides to take it later and than enters the keydoor without it because he already has a key and gets confused by the "no shortcuts" death end.
I wanted to comment about the amazing level but... So, I first watched the video and after watching it I went to scroll down for the comments and while scrolling I just happened to read the description for the video on a glance. I blame the Geek that I read it as "Trolling is fart." by accident. Anyway, about the level... At first I thought that sure, it's not a bad level but when it showed the correct order and did red/blue switch state and everything else, I had to admit the level was really good. Despite of the all great trolls, I'd say my favorite moment in the video was when Geek redid one of the sections for the door where she couldn't even go. That was so funny!
Considering that it would have likely taken days/weeks to make this one level, highly unlikely. The best you can do is watch his early vids where he explains the trolls and shows off the stuff going on in the background via the editor.
Watching: Carl = Bloody forehead and Slight Insanity. Juz = Saying Troll Master every time he dies. DGR = Screaming at screen and slight intelligence loss. Geek = Permanent Indent on face in the shape of a hand and need to post a snarky comment.
This one needs a "Forgive me RUclips, for I have sinned" "NOOOOOO" style reactions video by its creator, showing how everyone fell for everything. ( ruclips.net/video/w4sWZzYysvs/видео.html )
Does anyone know what happens if you collect the safety coin early after learning the order? I want to know if there is another troll hidden if you do.
What I don't understand is why ducking as small Mario actually works against Skewers. The spikes of the Skewers are INSIDE OF HIM; he should die! (What I further don't understand is why Skewers are blunt for the Mario Maker games, instead of having their original spiked bottoms.) "Get Stuffed" is my new garage band name. 21:49: I have heard hell, and it's that stomping noise. (Also, how is a Muncher able to lift that huge-ass Bullet Bill cannon, which is probably made of metal and weighs a ton?) I'd just love to meet the baller who did this "level" in only two minutes and 22 seconds...your 65 MINUTES AND 44 SECONDS seems far more realistic! =_=; (Apparently, Defender himself took six minutes to test.)
I'd assume there's some dev path to make it possible to clear from the checkpoint in the "four house" room for uploading, since the setups and switch states in normal playthrough require starting from the checkpoint by the keydoor and "safety" coin.
It always weirds me out when MM RUclipsrs have to slowly read things in the level. No offense to anyone, but without thinking I read "trolling is art" before seeing the full sentence. Geek had to go back and forth. And Carl, a literal scientist, is even worse. He'll sit there and ask his chat what words say. Is this a thing creators do for show or to draw it all out for people who don't read so fast? Or is it like people who are good at Mario for some reason don't use the same thought processes to read? Like "blind people over develop other senses" kind of a thing? What is happening here? Why can't these college grad champs of games read?!
This is the first time I see this level, but MY GOD, even by Defender's high standards, this was INSANE. Absolute kudos to Defender, and GG to Geek for falling for ever-... The Back To CP1. JK. Real Back To CP1 level ending in Austrollian Mates was amazing too!
Geek: I bet you jumping off this bridge will kill me.
*splat sound*
Geek's ghost: Bro I called it
😂😂😂
This was such a fantastically crafted level, even by defender's standards, holy shit
It wouldn't be right to have high standards for others but create some jank Carl trash.
It's fitting that this is for an art exhibition; I'm always struggling to explain the ridiculous talent and ingenuity that goes into Mario Maker troll levels and why they're so fun to watch, and I think this is the perfect level to demonstrate it.
Indeed, trolling is officially art.
This is a masterful troll level like no other, but the main thing we have learned from this is that nobody trolls Geek the way Geek trolls Geek.
Being the elder of the troll creators, this piece of art is *highly* refined to the best quality
This is one of the most complex trolls I've seen in a long time. Well made Defender!
I've watched you, Carl and DGR play this level and I absolutely love each of your reactions to this amazing troll artwork
Wow... the level of complexity/ingenuity these troll creators makes, are getting higher and higher.

The time Geek discovered something she wouldn't say (it rhymes with "dead join devil").

there's so many [HOW] in this level that needs to be answered.
I can’t wait to see his behind the scenes video on this level. Is going to be an absolute beast of a video

Defender showing why he's still the best in the business

Troll perfection. This level is a masterpiece.
This is Defender's greatest creation. He has peaked beyond Godhood has manifested as a Troll.
"Only one coin left..."
>video only halfway done
hoo boy
Finally watched your playthrough, what an absolute brilliant level by Defender 🤯
"Oh sh*t it's a ... nope, not going to say it" (it's a red coin level) moment 0:57
That was a fast video, the stream just happened
That was an epic. I've not seen an order one in a while

27:13 Nah, Defender would never make a CP0 Quadruple keydeath machine at all.
First time I saw this level I thought it was pretty boring stuff......boy was I wrong! Defender is a troll magician!
I love being able to see chat now. Nice touch!
Geek, your reactions were wonderful to this level.
Also, everyone hail to Defender, King of the Trolls.

Builds a guide to creating good troll levels - resorts to progression items in hidden blocks! 😜

Editor: _immediately cuts to Geek making a fool of herself_
geek i have to admit i also did an entire section twice to find out about the door LUL
Ha! Glad I wasn’t the only one
I'm so glad I played through this 2 days ago so now I get to watch it and laugh at someone else!
The room at The Louvre dedicated to The Mona Lisa should be repurposed to display this new timeless masterpiece
Missed the video game exhibition they did at the Smithsonian…
Muz was close. He got the first 2 in the right order first time 'round, by accident - but then did the last two in reverse order.
I was close on my playthrough, I started with the lower left
@19:30 here is the big brotehr of HI-NT its HI-pla-NT
4:37. You just did what the hint said to do.
Unendlich is german for infinity ;)
Good that Defender dropped off one troll from earlier versions of this level which was very nasty -- had to figure out that hitting a hidden block in one section is required to pass another section
That’s not a troll, that’s just player abuse.
Oh damn, I would have loved that. Hahahaha
@@FreakAndGeek Tanuki Dan had the pleasure of playing the more evil version - video is long but good fun =)
There are 16 revisions between the one Dan played and this version 😮

Nice new layout, now we can see the comments going "Geek..." when we inevitably facepalm
i did not watch it yet 23:50
No one else can make you look like a fool when you did it yourself.
It is okay though, we're all fools.
We love you Defender!!!
Even on Super Mario vacation they still tries to take him out & assassinate that Hero
I watched Carl do this level too, and loved it. Defender really outdid himself with this level xD
It takes a dummy to troll a dummy.

Clear check time : 8 minutes 18 seconds, the dev door must be insanely well hidden.

In Germany we say: Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache! (German language, difficult language)
Most oftenimes, a Geek guarantee is a Geek Karentee
Insane level, very fun vid

This is me dummying my way through this video
when was/is this exhibition?
Your videos keep getting funnier and funnier. 😂
Defender is a mad man.. he is drunk with power and has to be stopped
Personally I think he should be encouraged! Haha
You look like you had fun. Therefore I have no complaints.
Un-end-lich (say “oon-end-lich“, lich is like loch ness). “unendly“ in english, if you will, the suffix -lich serves a similar role as -ly in english.
You did very well on this one! (Or it was edited to make you look good :P)
You died to the fish anti-softlocks really quickly too. So proud :')
