    Video is well done reflecting a beautiful Rails to Trails epic mountain bike ride for all levels of riders.

    This was amazing! One warning - be sure to bring layers - the tunnels are 50 degrees cooler and a REALLY good head lamp or bike light! But it's so stunning and fun!

      Definitely need to bring layers. You're in those tunnels for longer than expected. I remember our hands started to get a little numb from the cold. This was such a unique and beautiful ride!

    I rode this beautiful bike trail this past Thursday, 16Sept21. I picked one of the two best periods to ride it. Right before the end of season closure of the big St. Paul Pass tunnel. The other best time is right after opening on Memorial day in the Spring. Both times have two major advantages = cooler weather and less people. I'm 70 and made the ride in 1 hour and 45 minutes. That included about 15-20 minutes of lookie-lou picture taking. And if you have the time, spend the night before and the night after the ride in historic Wallace, Idaho. It will make the whole trip and local history experience so much more enjoyable..I recommend starting early in the AM so you can take your time and read all the trail side informative displays. It wouldn't hurt to bone up on the history of the once mighty Milwaukee Road and I also highly suggest the book THE BIG BURN by author Timothy Egan about the 1910 ginormous forest fire which raged through the lower pan handle of Idaho in the late summer of 1910.

      Great info, thanks!! The area is incredibly rich with history, and you're right, learning about it beforehand will make your visit so much more valuable. We also stayed in Wallace like you mentioned and it was a perfect little town to spend a couple of nights. Also unique in the area, we went on a mine tour up in the hills, stayed at a converted school in Kingston, and rode the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes from Mullan to Harrison (the downhill direction). We could have stayed another week there was so much to do and see!

      @@lylesuch4421 Great brief, thank you, 👍👍..I will take it under advisement. Next time I do this ride next Spring, I'll spend the first night in Avery.. The second night in Wallace..

    Nice video. I want to do this would my young kids. Would you be nervous going over the trestles with them?

    • @lylesuch4421
      @lylesuch4421  6 лет назад +2

      Just keep an eye on them on the trestles and they'll be fine. They are wide and the terrain is smooth with raised walks along the side. One thing to think about is the long tunnel at the beginning. It can take around 15 minutes to get through the tunnel, and it gets cold, even on a warm day. Kids might want a jacket and maybe light gloves to keep warm. Good luck, it's an amazing ride!!
