The point in a subwoofer is not to hear the bass but to feel it. You won't get serious adrenaline from a set of headphones, you need a big subwoofer to put the bass through you.
My friend has a set of them. The battery vibrators in the headphones are a nice touch for headphones. And they're not overpriced. But I will always prefer the deep, real house thumping bass of a subwoofer :)

If you're being serious though, sometimes too much loud bass can cause a person to be unable to hear those low frequencies due to ear damage, a friend of mine had that happen. but yeah, there's bass and I have 2 8" full range audio nirvana drivers.
