I’m a short, semi stocky guy but have always been the alpha male without knowing I was. It is i my nature to lead and be the dominant male. Even the taller men yield to me. I have always had this self confidence that I am not afraid of anyone. Not short mans complex, just sure of my strength and ability to conquer. I was also blessed with a incredible physique. At 55 I’m told I have the body of a 30 year old athlete (I work out too) I feel 7feet tall and I’m I accept any challenge. This has taken me far with no degree, just supreme confidence and a desire to be better than the best. I’m quiet but I have a presence that is noticed. I’m very analytical. Am I sigma? Probably not. I am a loner. The big thing is I have never been a ladies man. I am too alpha male looking. Rugged and intimidating does not go over well with most women. Being short doesn’t help either. (5’7”)
Too alpha to handle
Only heard of Sigma Males a few weeks ago and have watched a few RUclips videos about it and realized that is a good term. I always thought of myself as someone who is an Extroverted who is an Introvert as well, due to being a middle child in large family.
I have been with a lot of women, way more than even those who are viewed as Alphas and describe themselves as players. Being a player and intentionally trying to get with girls has never been my goal, because I've only tried to find a good fit and hope to find a good relationship.
The traits I have learned that define a Sigma are ones that I possess, so it's nice to know that I fit an actual male type. Not Alpha and definitely not Beta, but the one who is in between and can interact with people from all walks of life.

I can contest to that. I'm overweight, I don't have an attractive face (it's not like I'm butt ugly, I'm average looking, I'd look better if I lost weight but I'm too lazy for that), no high social status or whatever. Despite that, for the last 10 years I have unintentionally attracted attractive women to me (and usually older than me too). Of course not all women show interest, the majority don't which is also a good thing because it would be weird.
It is quite strange but the less you care about getting women, the more likely you are to have women show interest in you, even if you're not that good looking. Women do care about looks but if you are truly mysterious, that alone can drive a woman so crazy that she will completely overlook your looks. That has happened to me too many times now. It would have been one thing if it was a one off or a second time but this has happened probably 10 times or more and it will continue to happen.

I'd put Sigma equal with Alphas. The reason being is they are the only group who can consistently undercut or best extroverted Alphas. Leaving them confused. They rarely see Sigmas coming. Because we present strength differently. Sigmas are also unique because we are not drawn to extroverted Alphas. We often repel each other away. We can exist alone like you said. My classmate could quite possibly be classified as sigma. A shy dude who is very introverted, but also cool, confident, and extremely intelligent. I will even say that for me being alone is unberable so if I'm alone on my own my instict is to meet new people in literraly any place I am, because being with as many people as possible helps me recharge. I am a 6'2 fit guy in my late 30s and even in my early 20s I had a buff physique, yet on umpteen occasions women passed up on me for guys no where close to my looks and/or personality. I'd like to believe that it doesn't make me a beta male, reason being - I was totally focused on my career and the rich guys with fancy cars got the girls not just for their money but also their social circle which was much better than mine. I ended up making a great international career and providing for a great quality of life for my family (parents and siblings). I have dated plenty of girls too along the way but I believe what makes me alpha is that I am self made. These videos are bull shit which define alpha as someone popular, mainly with women. Alpha is someone who overcomes adversities, who makes something of their life from nothing. Yes, some guys aren't as flamboyant or popular but it might be due to a variety of reasons - how come someone with the confidence of their parents' money automatically becomes an alpha

Nothing in life is guaranteed I know and my philosophy could be flawed but would you want to know someone bragging about how "good" they are? One of my greatest problems is dealing with these misunderstandings with girls who always think i am flirting with them whereas i am just trying to communicate.
I don't have to think... I know I'm a Sigma male and I always have been. I wasn't as confident about it in high school, but after I joined the military, it started to become obvious. I didn't get the girl in every port like the Alphas or even the Betas. I hung back and watched it all play out, drank my beer, and waited. Alpha = is like a Lion Strong, confident, wants to be in charge, is a natural born leader, admired by many, has internal insecurities that leads him to show off in order to assert his dominance. Can fight well but because of his insecurity would rather not in the fear of being beaten by someone stronger. Like to use others around him to build up his social value/status.
Sigma=is like a iger Has all the same strengths as a lion without the need to show off. In fact, just like how most experts agree that in a theoretical fight between a lion vs tiger Tigers usually win ; sigmas are superior to Alphas in almost every skill category. The only exception is interpersonal skills. 9 times out of then an Alpha will dominate in this skill over a Sigma. This makes them so confident in themselves that they have zero need to prove themselves to anyone in a social situation. They don't need to because they know they are better. Like a Lion Alphas will verbally and aggressively let you know they are at the top of the pecking order. Like a Tiger Sigma's are impossible to spot unless they want to be spotted. The only time you recognize the level of strengthen/skill a sigma has is when is in an action. So its very hard recognize a sigma because they only show off their skills when they need to and not just to show off to people. This is the same as a Tiger who only shows his incredible power when he needs to hunt to eat. Sigma's are usually more fearless, braver and more skilled at doing things then Alphas because when they are doing something they truly believe in it VS an Alpha who does things a lot of the time just to show off.
However, the Sigma's biggest strengths (independence and self assured confidence) are also his biggest weaknesses. Although individually a Sigma is heads above an Alpha; in the overall game of life Alphas will almost always come out on top over the Sigma. Lions have been much more successful in preserving their species because they are social and can collaborate with a group to accomplish his goals. Tigers on the other hand while superior have no one to fall back on when they need help because they are highly independent. Likewise, Alphas use their interpersonal skills to create a larger social group. This allows them to use others in his group to make up for any weakness he has. This also lets him get a foot in many doors he didn't even know existed. This also allows him to have more frequent sexual partners because he has a high "passive" social value so more women are drawn to him just based on his reputation.
Sigma's being independent and preferring his own company will naturally have less opportunities in every area of life just because he knows/interacts with less people. He can attract the same level of women as a Alpha and can achieve the same level of financial/social success as an Alpha. But since he displays his skills less often and interacts with people less; his success is less frequent then the Alpha.
In summary:
Sigma: Is the ultimate level of a Man that exists if we are strictly judging a man on his individual skills.
Alpha: Is the ultimate level of a Man when looking at it from a evolutionary point of view. He has the best skills against every other personality type to reach the highest levels of social status and the best skill sets to pass on his genes successfully to the next generation.

The fact is that the stereotype of Alpha-Beta lumps every man into 1 of two categories. But rarely does anyone actually fit clearly into one class. One of the classes which is similar to the “Alpha” is the “Sigma”. A man who is more focused on his purpose than in impressing others or schmoozing with them. He is often misunderstood or better yet ignored. Sigmas prefer to be relatively non-descript.
Relating back to the initial comment... I personally have seen that the deadliest and most effective men in my life have often been “Sigmas”.
I believe that the best way to view the spectrum of masculinity is through the lens of mindset as opposed to hard and fast character traits.

Sigmas do have a disadvantage though, and that is because they have a tendency to be closed off and hard to read. Whereas that does create the mystery that women find attractive, they first have to view you as an attractive male in the first place before they will be intrigued by you. I have walked into bars and been mostly ignored by women, but once I start demonstrating my high self esteem/confidence/courage, women in the room will start paying attention to me, in a speculative kind of way (as in, they become curious about you, and start watching you). They recognise my higher social status, but only after I demonstrate my alpha qualities. Until that happens, they have no idea what kind of male I am, and will often be more focused on the more obvious alphas, who are easier to spot due to the way they socially interact within their group. So for sigmas, they have to make themselves known by demonstrating their higher qualities and social status, otherwise women will be oblivious to your presence.
