Yeah, the highlight was definitely the team camaraderie, but being in a timezone completely different from most people was also kind of isolating because I missed a lot of the conversations (and catching up on sometimes hundreds of comments in the Discord was so hard) and because the majority of hosts were in the northern hemisphere, everything seemed to happen around convenient times for them, which totally makes sense. You did such a great job as a producer, and I hate that it wasn't a fun experience for you. I am also not really the person for competitive readathons so I'm definitely out next year. It was nice to try it, but overall not for me. 💖
thank you for all the work you did, and i'm sorry it didn't go as you expected. i'm really glad i discovered your channel through this readathon, and i'll definitely stick around!
Thank you for popping into the Romance Team chat with us. It's unfortunate that you're not going to participate in any future readathons but I of course understand if it's not for you. I still very much adore manga and romance novels so you'll see me around regardless.
Thank you so much for all of your hard work! I really loved the team camaraderie in the group chats, and I'm so sorry you didn't get to stick around with a team long enough to do that very much. But we loved having you on team Romance! I don't think I'll be participating next year either, but I hope that those that do choose to do it again have a good experience.
📚Shae, we appreciate all of your effort to be the best producer you could be!! 💖💖 I attempted this readathon last year, but August was a wild month for me and I had to bail a week or so in. I joined this year because of the change in team definitions and because Heather and Izzy were hosting for Romance. I made it the whole month this year and generally enjoyed the prompts and team aspect. The hard part was not fully understanding how the math was mathing -- Face Off was a strange exercise in read without knowing what the general goal was and the averaging by registered team member makes me feel worse about bailing last year. Undecided on participating again ... we'll see.
Yeah ultimately as good as it was to read as much as i did for the readathon, there wasn't enough communication for me to ever feel secure, i was kind of always stressed. So It's also apparently not for me either despite my apparent success lol wish it was a little more chill, planned out, and transparent!
No I hear you; I'd rather do something akin to our manga/manwha read-athongs and read alongs :) I have a couple things I am plotting for next year such as reading (or rereading) Miss Fisher and maybe comparing the books to the episodes of the show; sadly my library does not have the books on audio. This month I am think I am going to read e-book versions of Tsumiko by Forthright so I can make notes as I enjoyed the first two books.
You do what’s best for you!! You, your health, and your happiness is what’s most important!! Love you!! 📚
Love and miss you!!

📚 It sounds like this was a rough one for a few people.
I've been hearing that.
