RV wet bay connection panel water hose inlet fitting repair
I understand drama sells, but I do appreciate these straight forward repair videos. Nobody makes them because they don’t get watched, I get all that. But these are really the videos I believe are great to have for your viewers.
Another great video Ross! Straight and to the point delivery without a lot of hemming and hawing and wandering off topic. Your delivery is superb! Thanks again!
I replaced ours with the stainless steel unit you posted a link to. It works fantastic and far less chance of failure. The black tank flush I replaced with a brass fitting and I carry a brass spare for a 'just-in-case' situation.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Yes. The build quality seems extremely robust. I've also purchased, installed, and have been using for a long time, the G-Sunny shower valve and their outdoor quick disconnect valve. Neither has given me any issues. I wanted to get away from the janky plastic garbage that is the norm.
The check valve failed in mine on my old camper and when I was using my tank it would spray water out so I always suggest carrying a cap or a splitter with shut offs just in case
Another method to get water into my fresh tank on my rig (2021 StarCraft Super Lite 212FB) is to use bucket full of fresh water and the water pump and siphon hose with the valves in the sanitize configuration. This will pump directly into the fresh tank. May take awhile, but an option nonetheless.
This is an awesome heads-up Ross... thank you! We have a '21 Imagine XLS 22MLE.... do you know if the SS replacement will fit this model or do I need to remove the panel to verify size?
Question about water pressure. If the trailer is outfitted with house grade pex tubing, why is a pressure regulator still required and why regulate down to 20psi?
not sure about yours, but most rvs are rated higher than 20 psi, and most people run around 45-50. the pex isnt the problem, that will withstand the pressure, its the plastic fittings that will break.
Mine is 10 years old and still good. What did break was the outlet on my pump spaying water under my dinette 😢 The new pump from Amazon is so quiet i can't hear it in the bathroom and my wife sitting on the dinette isn't screaming :What's that!"
I suspect the gravity fill ports are not threaded because if you directly connect a hose to the port and over fill the tank it will expand like a balloon and damage the tank and surrounding equipment. The vent isn’t large enough to let sufficient water out once it fully filled. Ask me how I know!!!
probably part of it, and yes what is the deal with these over fill valves? i have walked inside once (dont tell anyone lol) and noticed my floor swelling due to the tank expanding. This was probably 6 years ago, but remember the water was pouring out of the gravity fill, when it really should never make it past the overflow.
This may be dumb question guys, but I am pretty new to RVing, I do NOT have pressure regulator, I was wondering what it is and why it's important to have one? Thank you.
because you are always "borrowing" water... you're never at the same campground, and different campgrounds will have different water pressures... some low, some high - too high for what the rv plumbing is rated for. a regulator will prevent too high of a pressure to damage your plumbing. rv plumbing lines are pex, and pex can well withstand the pressure, the problem is the plastic fittings that are used. get this one right here: amzn.to/3NcNRpu
You could also ditch the fitting all together and plumb in a pigtail using a check valve and a 3 foot garden hose. It may not look as slick but it would be way more functional.

you like the stainless one? i was afraid it might be chincy. I think I might upgrade to stainless on the new RV next year.

i might just bite the bullet and install the SS option, thanks for the input my friend.
I never thought of that. Going to check it out and buy a spare. Thanks.
you're welcome, thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
This is great information for the do-it-yourself RV'er. I'm better prepared to make the repair. Thank you.
glad to help and have you here David!
Perfect! Just added the brass and stainless to Amazon cart!
good and easy project for the fall!
The check valve failed in mine on my old camper and when I was using my tank it would spray water out so I always suggest carrying a cap or a splitter with shut offs just in case
hey bud, been a while!
Thanks Ross. I use a 45 on the water connection and put a Govee water detector in the area below the mess of PEX connection just in case.
thinking about adding them too.
Mine broke 2 years ago, always keep a spare now.
yep, my back up is in my cart now, and its stainless... might even just install the stainless and keep the plastic one on reserve.
Great video, just picked up a spare!
never hurts, especially since it can cripple a trip, and they arent easy to find in brick and morter stores.
Thanks so much for these videos and product links. Really appreciate your channel.
thank YOU Rick for watching them!
Great video Ross nice tip on the leader hose 👍
thanks again bud
Great info!
thank you Frank!
Same here, upgraded to the stainless steel inlet.

YES! This will work if you have a siphon pump option at the wet bay, thanks for adding to the video bud!
Great Video. Something I never would have thought of. As always thanks for your videos!!
thank YOU for being here Zachary!
Great info as always, heading to Amazon now for spare parts! Thanks!
Glad to help
Thank you!! I don’t have a gravity filler on my tank.
👍
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Thanks, good info and straight forward.
than you Clint!
Thank you, Ross, another superb video. Lou from Georgia.
always appreciated Lou!
How have the quick release fittings been and what kind are u using
so far they are great, i have them everywhere on the rv and my house. no problems: amzn.to/3XNXJek
as a camper of 50 years I have learned u can not keep a spare of everything, but I sure try to!!! 🤠
very true, same here, at least the stuff I know I wont be able to find locally or cannot work around during the trip.
I replaced the wet bay panel with lexan so I can hopefully see an early leak.
thanks for sharing Jay, i was thinking about doing that as well, or even adding these sensors: amzn.to/4gNleg4
Great Video! Thank you!
You bet!
Great video and helped 👍
thanks for being here my friend
Another great video from Ross!!!
thanks my man!
This is an awesome heads-up Ross... thank you! We have a '21 Imagine XLS 22MLE.... do you know if the SS replacement will fit this model or do I need to remove the panel to verify size?
im not sure but it should fit, if you have Prime you can return it for free. amzn.to/3N5mMVh
I totally would have not relieved the water pressure. Thanks for saving me a potential mess 🤦🏻♂️
no problem!
Thanks for the tip! Do you need to caulk the replacement?
I imagine you would if your port is on the outside of the camper like ours is. Since his is in a bay, it probably does not need it.
@@MarkDeLongchamp he said you don’t.
no, i talk about why in the video.
Hey Ross, your thoughts on replacing all the plastic fittings with metal?
im itching to do it, probably wont do it on this rv though. im OCD about stuff like that.
RecPro offers a brass replacement in white or black for $18. They're alot stronger and shouldn't break and is exact replacement.
Lol. I guess I should of watched the entire video before commenting. 😊
🤣
I always fill our fresh tank at home just in case. Then we have water on the road
👍

nice, i was hoping with the elbow I would never have to replace, PLUS its out of the sun... oh well

it is fixed, thank you Mitchell! If you want a couple stickers, email me your name and address: management@rvtipsandtravels.com
What if you don't have a wet bay? Our trailer hooks to the outside of the trailer....
should be the same or similar fitting. minus the leader hose, nothing changes... i would just remove the 90 while traveling though.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS I always use a 90 when hooking up and remove it when traveling. Any idea on how I would replace it when it does fail?
unfortunately you will probably have to access from behind the wall.
