This was prolly one of the more frustrating moments created by my own doing, this is what happens when you get a little to cocky and get in your chair too soon... you break a prop and leave yourself stranded. thankfully I had a boat or two out there that was able to help me.
had this been later at night I would've been out there all night or swimming.

I know many a person wouldn't upload their blunders as it makes them look less than life like but you did and everyone that does this sport after a bit of time does get cocky and it bites them on the ass

You know Chucky I've watched pretty much all of your paramotoring vids, and pretty much all of the time you don't wear anything on your feet. I have always had it in the back of my mind that one day you would come a cropper at some point and injure yourself because of that. This mishap is something you can learn from for future flights, so please put something on your feet. Safe flying Chucky, and keep uploading those great vids, they're so entertaining.
appreciate that and I've only flown without shoes maybe 5 times out of 60 flights

A great lesson of complacency, you learnt and will adapt so you are now a better pilot then before so thays great, sorry your 4th was cut a little early but glad u didnt get hurt
I've broken a prop doing something similiar, the real lesson is to not do anything too risky when you aren't near your car, or a road, or out of cell phone range. And most definately not when you are solo.

Thank you for posting this. It shows how easy things can get out of hand. You never know when you are going to be walking. The lesson here: Being prepared to walk out might save your life. You had water, but no shoes I am certain that lesson was not lost on you. Again thank you for sharing, learning from others mistakes is much cheaper than making them yourself.

Is it possible to balance the prop by breaking off the same amount on the other side with a pair of pliers so you have some thrust or is that a stupid question?
I was thinking the same thing tbh but probably wouldn’t work for long those things are so meticulous
The motor will probably over rev
motor will overrev and you have not enough thrust since a big part of it is generated at the end. and it will never be balanced enough to not damage your motor further
you will destroy the crank

Confused how the prop impacted the ground. Isn’t there a ring that goes all the way around it? Didn’t look like you fell back? Also how much is a replacement prop?
He jumped into the seat with less than enough airspeed around (over and under) the wing to lift him. Easy to do when it's mid-day hot, as the air is thin. Running on soft sand makes it easy to want to quit and just sit down... The cages are really only intended to prevent the paraglider lines from being struck by the prop during inflation. Some cages are strong enough to keep hands and arms from entering the dangerous area where the propeller spins, but good posture and proper technique are really what needs to be relied on, to keep both body parts and the ground itself out of the propeller. The protection the cage offers is secondary to skills. Sand is particularly challenging, as the frame can dig deeply into the sand, while the propeller is only protected by an inch or two of the ring's greater circumference. To top it all off, the hoop frames are semi-flexible and not really intended to prevent a full human's weight being dropped to the ground without some give. Some frames are designed to fail with the weight of impact as doing so absorbs energy, protecting the motor and pilot. $450

Tools maybe, but carrying an extra propeller is ridiculous. For about 2 years I carried 100' of braided climbing line and a figure 8 descender, because the area I often fly in is loaded with 100' tall pine trees. I thought self extraction/rescue would be the best policy if I ever had a motor quit and landed in a forest. As time went by however, I employed better decisions instead as insurance against landing in a stand of tall trees. What if the problem had been a broken part other than the prop? You can't reasonably carry spares for everything. Maybe an extra spark plug and some zip ties, but weight and cumbersomeness adds up fast. Far better to carry, would be a slate of better choices that experience can equip you with. When you have the entire community begging you to change how you fly and you ignore those pleas, you'll just have to figure those things out on your own.

The moment the prop broke I was like Glad you made it back to civilization. Gosh, that was a bad moment to have a broken prop. Well of course.
Extra props not the answer, it would have gotten broke anyway. Would be nice to have a wing bag with you though, and shoes.

Just found your channel and this is this very first video and I’ve watched hundreds of ppg vids but with as much as it seems you fly over water and sometimes In places with very little or no LZ with that being said do you carry a reserve and have any type what so ever of floatation for you or paramotor or both? Stay safe, fly high, try not to die. Yee yee

An extra prop is not the answer. There’s a good chance it would have cracked on that failed takeoff, and it’s just not something we do. Are you going to carry a spare netting, cage spars, and hoop pieces also? Work on your touch and goes someplace safe and where you’re not bothering anyone. Take note the areas you land have a terrain conducive to taking back off(not soft sand). Don’t prematurely jump into the seat, and you won’t slam the prop into the ground 100% of the time.
all these thing i know now and the extra prop sentence was just a fun idea obviously not realistic

Get some of those super-light footie like shoes and stow them in your gear. Shoes when you need them, barefoot when you want. 😏

I am new to Paramotoring. I saw your floatation devices attached on the side spokes. I have never seen that before. Have you tested it? I also live in Florida so floatation is a must. Making it as unobtrusive as possible is a goal....I like your solution. Let me know if you make it to the Disney area. Lots of farmland and sites up here.

Never seen anyone carry an extra prop. But ALWAYS have a wing stuff bag under seat. And wear shoes! Lucky for you you didn’t strike your heels and only got the ground.

I was waiting for a crash failure. Might wanna pack an oh-shit bag, lightweight shoes, peanut butter, and some extra propellers. I still don't
understand why the motor and propellers are not more protected. So I'm guessing the sand gave in too much to where the propellers
made contact with the ground.
I'm a 'cycling enthusiast who got a flat 12 miles from home on two separate occasions while the sun was going down. I now carry an extra tube, patches and a pump...always.
totally worth it, always have to learnt he hard way am I right haha?

Hi Chucky, I am of the opinion you flew too close to the ground that you had the "prop strike" (very similar like when we sit too early during airborne phase in take off), however you're safe and managed to get the good Samaritan who helped you back to your take off spot. I myself a Paramotor pilot and enjoyed this activity very much, fly safe buddy ! 👍Regards from Jakarta.

how much does it cost to buy on of those paramotors? do you need a pilots license to fly one? high insurance costs? is it a very costly hobby? doesnt seem that expensive in fuel... what? 5 litres on a trip? i guess its expensive in terms of mileage compared to a car.. but not for flying.. or does it use special expensive fuel?

Crap happens, glad it worked out, I hit the sand on a remote beach launch once and i got lucky it shredded the prop tape off but saved the prop itself so i was able to fly home, not applicable in your case though with that rocky sand.
it was so lucky man hard to even walk on!

Rule of thumb, if you gotta pay to get in, usually can't fly out of it.
But really, you have the skills to obviously pull that off, just complacency. Don't be in a rush to hop in that seat, looks like you jumped in a little. That false lift can get anybody.

Sorry man about what happened... But remember, long as you're safe and nothing serious happened. It's all good man... So what exactly happened so we can learn from this? Did you take off from a high point off the ground? Or did you jump in your seat too fast and that caused the paramotor to go down so the the prop hit the ground? Also, have a pair of shoes with you for emergencies lol.

Be careful messing with that go pro pole especially how it was distracting you from flying with as low as you were. That can be a recipe for a disaster if you crash into those trees. Focus on flying and be safe. Thanks for sharing your video.

So cool, yet so risky (by my standards). I think it all started with your (no) footwear. You jumped into the harness early instead of running just another few yards. I judge by the excitement in your eyes you are looking for the trouble. Beware. Some friends of mine with this level of excitation and (lack of) self-care are either dead or injured. Sorry. I mean to scare you, actually for your own good and for your farther you mentioned. Cheerz!
