If somebody asked who defines music, I will say madlib. Why, because the dude produces music, hands on with instruments, he is a D.J. that creates mindblowing mixtapes & he has many acts aside from himself such as quasimoto. The dude is the meaning of GOAT. He did it by staying true to himself, he didn't sell out. The whole Stones Throw Records family is such an inspiration. They proved how creative one independent label can be.
AMEN! I feel like some nowadays people need to be reminded that the biggest, most successful acts of music are always those who have remained true to themselves since the beginning. Madlib is certainly one of those people. And obviously that doesn't mean his music has always sounded the same (definitely the opposite), but he's always created music HE wanted to.

Madlib had some dancehall mc snippets in his most recent album Sound Ancestors that reminded me to listen to this again. It was great in that sense I felt, there was bits that made me think of Rock Konducta or Flight to Brazil etc and it was cool to see him flex all his muscles and pull from all his bag of tricks on the one project. I should probably be writing this under one of those videos but the larger point was, I hope it makes people go back, or check out for the first time, his older more thematic work.
