    ABOUT Jennifer "Jensuya" Carpenter-Peak
Dancer JENSUYA began her training in 1973 when most of her childhood was spent overseas immersed in other cultures. In 2002 she began belly dancing with classes, workshops, self-guided study, and more travel to the Middle East. Two years later, she and her husband, musician Robert Peak, founded their music and dance ensemble, TarabRaqs. Since then, Jensuya has produced and performed in hundreds of live music and belly dance shows. With honors bestowed by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the American Turkish Association, and a feature profile on the U.S. Government-funded Alhurra TV network broadcasting to over 24 million viewers in the Middle East, Ms. Carpenter-Peak is on the forefront of Middle Eastern dance in America.
    ABOUT Robert Peak Design
Filmmaker ROBERT PEAK established his career in 1987 with graphic design in Washington, D.C. He was on the forefront of the budding desktop publishing movement and both catered to a substantial list of design clients and served as expert consultant to government agencies and private firms for effectively using design software. The studio doors were reopened in 1996, and the firm expanded the services in 2002 with commercial photography, in 2007 with film production, and in 2013 with aerial photography/cinematography.

Dancers, this was my performance with my family band, TarabRaqs, at the Davis & Elkins Dance Festival-a weekend of workshops and performances in many genres of dance. We presented workshops in debke folk dance, belly dance, and an introduction to Middle Eastern music. This was our piece in the festival faculty performance show. QOTD-Question of the Day-Have you studied or tried other dance genres besides belly dance? How have they affected your belly dance? 🤔 I would love to hear your thoughts in a comment here. 💕

Shokrun, @stomache man! Thank you for your kind words. I was actually super nervous about this performance as there were many other dance professors attending from dance genres considered to be more "legitimate" dance forms than belly dance. But I love that kind of a challenge-to show belly dance as the beautiful and "legit" art form that it is. Aiwa, Habibi! ❤️
