    Good video and great voice. I have some nitpicks though as an archaeologist specializing in this area:
    - The initial area of the Franks you painted was way too large. The Franks - presumably - had their vague origins north of the lower Rhine, but not touching the sea (google Overijssel) and during the late Roman era were settled immediately south of the lower Rhine (Toxandria, modern day Noord-Brabant and the north of Belgium. The area you painted included many non-Frankish tribes, such as the Frisians and Saxons. You kept that area yellow far earlier than necessary, as Frisia was conquered by Charlemagnes grandfather and father (mid 8th century), and Charlemagne and his son Louis subjugated the Saxons (late 8th century, early 9th century).

    I have a question what are countries decending from Franks peoples?

    • @MappingThePast
      @MappingThePast  21 день назад

      The modern countries that trace their origins back to the Frankish people include France, parts of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The Franks played a significant role in shaping early European history!

    The map constantly rotating and not normally positioned N-S is quite annoying.

    The franch Kingdom Is older . in the gotic war by Eusebio of Cesarea It Is written about it .. The goths of Italy ( imperium of Ravenna ) had franchs near theyr Borders and were allies ( perhaps ) of Franchs , but sere Aldo attached by franchs . It's also noteworthy that the Franks didn't speak French. They spoke a germanic language, closer to modern day Dutch. However, as they specialized in agirculture during Roman times, some of their vocabulary made it into modern French, explaining why some french words are pretty close to dutch words.
    Anyway, thanks for your precision about how politics use religion... the roman catholic church is pretty much a hoax, as there is absolutely no religious reason why the pope and vatican should be located on the territory of Rome, instead of Jerusalem. It's pure politics.

      Thank you for sharing your insights! It’s fascinating to learn about the connections between languages and how history influences modern vocabulary. I appreciate your thoughts on the political aspects of religion as well. Don’t forget to subscribe!!
