It really is, it is annoying when I see comments on a beloved character that happens to be a minor as a bunny; it is just plastic and most of the time it isn’t extreme on sexualization like PLUM or Orchid Seed. It’s really just a collectible and if you don’t like it then swipe. It isn’t for everyone but also remember that these are licensed so wouldn’t that mean that the series approved of this? So no need to get mad at the people who happen to own a bunny. I very much agree with you

As collectors in the hobby we all need to be more cautious with our purchases, even if that means not ordering figures we love when they are overpriced (66k for a 1/4 bunny is way overpriced). Huge tip for you. There are pvc beads for cosplay that only need to be softened with boiling water. Once soft, the beads can be sculpted together and pigmented with powders. I recommend keeping some silicone around as well, in case you want to make molds of your creations. With molds, you can replicate your figures and sell your own art. People pay a lot for figures, and the IP's have some pull on that, but if you're skilled enough, or heck, can just make a decent product, people will be fine buying your stuff if it's cheaper.

The way I see it, figure collecting in general is already considered a niche hobby, so judgement is pretty much inevitable from an outside perspective. Fortunately, you can decide how much you want to care about it.
I’m personally not into lewd figures or bunnies. I see the appeal in them but it’s personally not something I’m into. My tastes lie more in gaming/comic based figures. At the same time though, I can connect with the passion that someone may have for a figure or a fictional character since I know I feel the same way about the types of characters I like or collect (plus I’m sure MOST people have crushed over someone fictional before). While I have a right to an opinion, it doesn’t have any affect on the person that enjoys collecting those types of things because at the end of the day they’re collecting for themselves, not me. Just like how they may not be as into gaming/comic figures as I am, but I don’t collect for other people’s satisfaction. We’re all just buying plastic representations of things that we enjoy. We can like or hate certain things, but unless it’s physically or emotionally hurting someone or is super insensitive, then I don’t think it’s fair to automatically label someone as a pervert just because they like buying big eyed anime girls with bunny ears. It’s all subjective at the end of the day so I don’t think it’s worth getting too worked up over.

I have no clue why people on tiktok support bootlegs not only is it bad for the industry/artists/sculptors that put hard work to make the figure its also bad for the environment
If the people that buy the bootleg want to eventually get rid of the figure they have to throw it away which creates more waste on the earth thats already there as theres no resale value unlike the original that can at least be sold to someone who loves that waifu/husbando creating less waste

I also think it’s fine to own figures of underaged characters because at the end of the day, they are fictional, look like adults, and in my mind they ARE adults. I am not viewing them as underage. people need to find something better in their time than get mad at people owning lewd figures of 17 year old anime girls.
like? I do think the figure industry oversexualizes underage anime girls too much, especially when they aren't sexualized at all in their source material, but sending hate comments to their owners isn't the way to protest.

When it comes to buying and collecting figures, I collect figures mainly because I admire the artwork and sculpt. Buying them just solely for investment is not even in my thoughts. Sure some of my figures will go up maybe a bit but thats not my reason for collecting them. Probably a secondary reason to buy them? Idk

I’m sorry you’re getting hate over some of your figures. My tastes are a bit more generic and I don’t get why someone would criticise your collection. Some of the figures may be a bit lewd for me (funnily enough none of your bunnies) but I’d never hate as they’re yours and they are all works of art. Everything is getting so expensive that I’m downgrading and have to LOVE the character. God help me when there’s a lush Choso figure 😅

Bootlegs run rampant on tiktok- like crazy 😳 people who decide to purchase them and not the original figures is literally beyond me. Also I’m surprised as to how many people haven’t mentioned it.. but I keep seeing figures that I almost never see online! For example, I remember coming across a clip of someone building a life sized statue of Portas D. Ace from one piece- I often question if these life sized figures are real or straight up bootlegs? Same with resin demon slayer figures forgot to add I keep seeing these on tiktok btw-

I’m not on TikTok and from the information I’ve gathered here, that’s a good thing and I will keep it that way.😅
About the rising prices…yea, they really do hurt.
But honestly, it’s not only that. A huge part I have to take into consideration is customs, as well. And as figures reach prices beyond €150…well…customs really hits extra hard, too. So yeah, I do cut down on PO’s and I do send my money to companies I trust - like Alter - or companies that I’ve heard from other collectors that are trustworthy.

I’ve definitely noticed this on the anime figure side of Tik Tok, I think what it comes down to is that the loud minority making these comments are children. I think a lot of these kids correlate bunny suits with sexualization but really these characters aren’t showing any more than a swim suit. Also while I understand that bunny suits are associated with playboy, at this point they’ve become extremely iconic and are also associated with things like Legally Blonde and other media that is not playboy adjacent. I think it’s weird how a lot of figure collectors don’t get nearly as much backlash if they reveal they’re a women first which is bizarre because I’ve met so many men in this community who appreciate their figures the same way I do and it’s not purely sexual, it’s art. With the bootlegs, I also think it comes down to kids not being able to afford the scales but literally figures are not a necessity and if you can’t afford them then don’t buy them. It’s dumb because we all know stealing art is bad so why doesn’t it matter when the art is anime figures? Sorry for the long winded comment but also with censoring I’ve found that if I censor the figure before I ever put it on TT instead of censoring it with the TT editor, I don’t get flagged. If it’s people reporting your videos though I don’t really have a work around for that 😬 sorry that’s happening.

I feel the same about kotobukiya 😭😭. They were my favourite figure making company because their figures tend to be good (nothing jaw dropping, but very solid figures) and I thought their prices was the most fair so they had my biggest respect. But now they’re joining the fray with the other companies with their higher prices and I’m so sad.
They also made an announcement that if they ever re-release older figures, they will also be priced higher than their original prices. I don’t know how much more they’ll be, but time will tell. I understand that prices will naturally rise over time, however with these current prices, it just reeks of companies being greedy and taking advantage that many seem to be willing to pay for these absurd prices. Either way, the constant figure rising prices is disheartening. Before when new figures were announced, I’d be excited to see what new characters will have figures. Now, I dread new announcements because I fear how much more expensive they are now compared to 3 months ago 😞
(P.S. like that Berserk pop-up figure of Guts, it was originally going to go for 6.9k yen in Feb, and now it’s going for 8.8k yen like what?? 😭😭)

I’ll just say it’s not by chance that you’re experiencing more hostility on tiktok than other places. Tiktok will intentionally show someone something that is likely to upset them or enrage them because it’s the single most effective way of driving engagement. While it’s like that on other platforms as well, but it feels especially toxic to expose creators to the most hostile audience possible… like you mentioned your other video you mentioned isn’t ‘negative’ in the sense that you’re saying hateful things or dragging people, it’s still ‘negative’ in a way where people will click because they want to hear a negative opinion on something. Heck, even now my comment now is an example. I’ve watched plenty of your other videos (great stuff, good work!) but this will be my longest comment I’ve made and will ultimately signal to RUclips that this video is getting more engagement and push for more content of this nature.
On an unrelated note, I’m actually extremely grateful to see other women being interested in lewd figures. In every other little RUclips nook I’ve been in, adult women have openly shunned anything with even sexual undertones. It’s been so refreshing to see women excited and positive towards fun sexy stuff instead of acting like it’s gross or embarrassing. Like… Im ace and I still felt alienated by the extreme sex negativity. I can only imagine how much harder it is for other people.

I ordered a Megumin explosion figure from AmiAmi last week, new, at an amazing price! Half of the lowest price on eBay. I’m assuming it won’t be bootleg from them, but the shipping to the UK was 80% the purchase price! I had to go with surface shipping, 2 months to see if I got ripped off😬 Best thing for me, I’ve used all my possible display places on the 80 or so figures I own so I’ve had to ease off buying now anyway. Just new figures from new anime for me, the Desumi Magahara nendo looks awesome when she gets released.
I’m a 50+yo male, so I get judged already, can’t possibly buy anything lewd. Society really limits the fun of this hobby. I’ve raised kids who have kids and have no inappropriate tendencies, I just love anime girls. They’re not even real FFS! Real kids are horrible! 😂

Pre-order prices have always been slowly on the rise but in the past year especially it has gotten so bad. I pre-ordered the Wei Wuxian Scale by Goodsmile Arts Shangahai for about $230, he has a unique base, lots of detail, and he's very large. I was hesitant to spend that much even then and that was only in November of 2021 now there are plain jane 1/7 scales going up for that price with no unique features. It 100% is going to be driving people out of the hobby and there is nothing more sad to see than companies outpricing their customers because of greed

  • @maplebroa
    @maplebroa 2 года назад

I think for the new companies, it's very important to look at who the sculptor and painter are and if they have a portfolio that we can review. For the Neonmax Mois 1/6 scale figure that you pointed out, it has some experienced people working on her, so that can be a tell-tale sign that it might be ok to go for the preorder. Also, looking at their social media, website, and interactions with feedback is a good way to determine if they are trustable or not. Neonmax has displayed their prototype figures at the Tokyo Figure Festival so at least they are doing everything right so far.
A lot of times I've noticed that you don't necessarily need to preorder unless it's a limited and exclusive item because it will show up for at least a few days in stock, so people just need to keep track of it if they really want it.

I’ve seen some videos about bootlegs figures on RUclips. And there was someone who bought some bootleg bunny figures. And like I see how they come in bubble wrap and stuff and how parts come off even if they are FREEing bunnies. And I don’t want to give the user away obviously, but like I’d rather save up for the real deal than getting a bootleg that I wouldn’t be proud to put on the shelf just to say that I have a version of the figure.
And like with the figures I have PO now I’m too afraid to cancel som of them so I don’t face the wrath of Amiami. But the one figure that I feel like was too much, but I couldn’t pass up was the Okamizukin-Chan figure. Like I was so excited for her to be open for preorder, but then I saw that 22,000 yen price tag and I think my jaw dropped a bit. Like I was thinking definitely 20,000 or less, maybe that’s a bit generous, but in the end I couldn’t pass her up. She better wow me for the price and I pray that base is not boring at all. Also no discount off of Amiami which sucked.
