  • This was a video I had made to document the forest fire I didn't really ever think about being possible. Shown are some pictures of my friends at the chimneys where the fire began along with pictures and videos from the night. Sara and her family who lived in Gatlinburg at the time were evacuated so they were not in danger, but the feeling all over the County was pretty intense as emergency personnel from all over the state arrived and the wind continued to howl.
    The song is "They Move on Tracks of Never Bending Light" by This Will Destroy You and I am not attempting to make money or monetize this video.

    This was really sad. Ever since 2014, I've made it a tradition to go to Gatlinburg a few days before Christmas. It's like my 2nd home. So glad the community rebuilt and now 5 years later, it's pretty much back to normal. I'll be there Dec 21-24 this year.

    You should've seen the spur when it was burning later that night. It was on fire both sides almost all the way down. It looked like driving through the embodiment of hell

      Alex Mccutchan crazy stuff man. I’ve seen some videos, but luckily my wife’s family that lived up there followed the voluntary evacuation out of Gatlinburg earlier in the day.

    It's crazy how much more would've been lost if the rain hadn't started when it did. It just boggles the mind how close it came to being so much worse.

    • @GraingerProductions
      @GraingerProductions  4 года назад

      Yeah, there were voluntary evacuations issued earlier in the day, but just hours before some homes were affected. And again, they were optional I believe until late that evening.

      Local officials downplayed and covered up too much information. Hince the gag order placed due to "it was started by juveniles."
      I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I've seen, heard and read enough to know some of this could have been prevented.

      Forest fires are natural occurrences though. While this one was started by kids. If a forest is totally left untouched, eventually underbrush and other natural fuel will build up on the forest floor. A lightning strike starts a fire that clears out all that underbrush and fallen leaves, limbs etc.. It has to happen for forests to grow. Actually redwoods depend on fires to make them grow. A redwoods seed is in such a durable nut that it takes fire to burn it off for the seed to get to the ground.
