Nice to see an old tractor being restored but those lights were for a Mf 35x not a grey Fergie and the fenders should be grey but that could be just primer I can’t tell
Am I the only woman that finds this fascinating to watch ...I did do 2 years of car maintenance class and loved it ,that was when you could work on your car ..a mark 3 Cortina....best wishes from the North Norfolk Coast UK Stay safe and well everyone
I've just bought my '54 TEF20 from my cousin...a year younger than myself. There's a little bit of tidings up of the panels but overall there shouldn't be too much to do. I came for the tractor story and stayed for the cows ;)
Adian, Bob was my brother-in-law. Lovely, video! Dirty oil some water in it; it looks like! Beautiful work! That seal look well seated. Please don't apologize for the delay, Adrian. You have a new baby in the house and it is calving season, Please man, you're working two person's job, or maybe even three. Love watching you putting the tractor back together. I am learning so much. Thank you.
Your some man to make time for everything especially on a dairy farm there sometimes aren't enough hours in the day hope you dad gets great enjoyment out of it when up and running 👍
Nothing like driving a tractor without the cab for sure,I used to draw turf from the bog about 16 miles away from home, nothing like the fresh breeze in your face 😄
I have seen bucks when servicing older tractors take out the engine oil and pour is straight into the backend, the things that farmers will do to reuse is outstanding
We replaced the pto completely with the larger size shaft so it can be used. Took the pump out too, found out it was well clogged even tho it worked. I'd say that front wheel will still wobble when u drive it. Taking a fergy for a spin up the road is enjoyable, anything more is not.
The red springs in the right hand drum when you are putting it back together, am sure there is supposed to be two different colored springs as one is a leading shoe, so maybe a black spring at the bottom and red on top. Cheers
Something different Adrian, very enjoyable, I do prefer seeing the cattle and hearing how other people work their cattle but you can't have cattle all the time and seeing Tractors is the next best thing, your a handy guy Adrian and there is such a sense of satisfaction when you repair something mechanical, if she does start I am sure you will soon sort her out, great video well done very enjoyable
Ya I try to mix it up, if I did all cattle related videos I wouldn’t be showing myself for who I am. I love tackle all sorts of jobs, I’ve always got enormous satisfaction from that. Learning from my own mistakes as I go. Thanks George 👍
I know it's 11 months since you posted this video, you where so lucky to remove that brake drum with your hands, in all the years I worked on tractors I never had one like that, it was heat hammer or sledge hammer even smashed the drums, we always used a centre pop on the retainer screws if you did not have to drill them out, Happy New year to you and your family
Great video, she is coming on nicely it's a great project, I'm exactly the same time is definitely hard to find with these projects, but a great bit of fun and a release from pressure of every day life
I can remember rolling ploughing with a DB 880. Had to keep your hands out of the steering wheel or you’d end up with snapped wrists. Great video. Good luck 👍
U have a great way about u Adrian pleasure to watch your videos not afraid to learn on the job hope your dad can push the clutch down when it's all done
There's no maybe about it Adrian, your father will enjoy that tractor this summer. I can't wait for the day to see you all getting a spin on the 20. Fair play to ya,super video.
Adrian Your have a great mind and hands.fair play to you alot of people including myself would be like to like you. Your also a very tidy farmer and have great pride well done
Hi Adrian I done up a 20 myself a few months ago. One thing you should do is replace the gear selectors they don’t make new ones but you can get them off old 20s. And we got all of our parts off of quality tractor parts they are very handy.
Great video will be good to see it finished and your father enjoying driving it on the farm your doing a fantastic job on it you will have to get Nicole on the spanner’s to help you
Little wins lol, wrong part great get out The chisel marks and missing screw from brake hub, noted you replaced the screws, did you copper grease the threads to make removing easier ?? Thank you for taking us on this journey Take care Geoff
Just watched your video I've got a 1952 Ted T20 my brake shoes are identical to yours ie same springs and the 2 nuts it all works perfectly fine so I would suggest leave them as you found them👌
Smith’s showrooms were on College Street opposite the entrance to the Egg Market car park in Cavan town. They used to drive the new tractors up from Cork. No big transporters back then, and no cabs either. Them were the Good Auld Days.
I drive my 135 and goldbelly all late spring and late summer and I love them without a cab, it can be colder, yes but the cabs never are the best and can be a pain, the only reason I live the cabs is the aspect of safety, many times I have clipped my leg on the tyre or rested my hand to far out to the left and be driving along only to have dust in the eyes. Nowadays I would say cabless is the better option, at least for >40 horsepower machines
Haha, wouldn't like to have the film that. The snot frozen on your face and ya tryin to warm the leggeens on the side of the block! Nostalgia is always rose tinted
Adrian, the phrases "it's the wrong one" and "it doesn't fit" are all too familiar as I'm replacing parts on my TEF20 as I go. I don't know where the retailers are getting this stuff from but some items are a bit shoddy. The MF35 is still in production (!!) and I think we might be getting cheap spares originally intended for the East African market? She's looking good mate...!
Looks like your looking for that same pallet of time that father Phil's looking for to get her finished great work on her are you going to paint it when you have it running
Partner & I are about to restore his 1953 TEF20. Your videos will be a great help for this, lets hope we can get the parts needed🤞🤞 already struggling 😅 can I ask what engine oil you have used in yours? (is it also the same for the PTO?) It'll be one of the 1st jobs we do, once we've cleaned up the grease 🙈
We had a similar tractor as this and we had a very very small wheel seal leak on both sides that wreck the brakes. I would replace the axle seals if I was doing it. We also use to drill, tap and put a grease Zerk on the front hubs if it was possible to make sure they had grease. Why do you have one of the tires mounted with the tire bars reversed? That snap ring on the PTO is what I call a Jesus ring. When it comes off and flys I say Jesus where did it go. lol We have had water getting into the casing through the boot around the shift lever. Sorry for all the questions but I love your videos and how you explain everything so well. Thank you from the USA!!
Yes them axle seals can leak and destroy the brake shoes, not hard to fix though just takes a bit of time. Yes one tyre is on wrong, was like that when I got it but I’m not to bothered as we’ve a new set of wheels for it. Thanks lad 👍
Brilliant video Adrian well done again. Just wondering what model no. the impact drill is and has it ever not opened bolts?only have 1.3 amp battery at min may be too small...
That’s an 18v volt 5amp battery. Now I love my dewalts and have loads of them all in the XR 18v. But that larger 1/2 inch model isn’t great, very poor in fact. the 3/8’s version that I have is nearly as good. Wouldn’t open any car or tractor nuts. Only bought that one a couple of months ago. Bought a Milwaukee version in 1/2 this week, there’s no comparison really. Sold the dewalt yesterday.
@@IFarmWeFarm thank you Adrian your a gentleman, will hold off buying for minute would not have huge use for one but handy to have, am very happy with dewalt drill even though small still great, maybe sometime Milwaukee could be reviewed as part of video
Bonjour je voudrais savoir comment se remonte le support de pompe injection j’ai acheté la tracteur mais il était démonter si vous pouvez m’aider sa serait sympa merci pour vos vidéos
Very good video, great to see all this documented, make things far easier for folk that want to give a restoration project a go!!
Cheers boss

Your definitely not on your own, mark 3 cortina was some car to get to work on. Mechanical work is very satisfying if you enjoy it
Your not the only woman watching. He's a great instructor.

Great feeling when u get to replace/repair parts, Such a satisfying feeling my right?

Hello from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming
what joy looking for a sack bag for the seat when it was frostie
It's great you have Hudson there to keep you right.

You kept me well entertained through me having covid 🥊🥊
Don't no much about mechanics meself, so it's interesting to see how these little jobs are done 👍. Your 2 dogs are characters 👏
Hi Adrian,
The baby 20 coming along lovely. She really will be beauty when she is finished.🐄 🤗👍
A genuinely talented bloke

That video was well worth the wait Adrian - I have picked up some great tips for my Tef20 - keep them coming 👍
Great video adrian.be nice to see it finished.hope your dad gets great enjoyment from driving it.
Great video Adrian, i have great memories of topping fields with a 20, can't wait to see her run!
Have a mowing bar sitting in a friends hedge that I might get for it. That would look the part
The red springs in the right hand drum when you are putting it back together, am sure there is supposed to be two different colored springs as one is a leading shoe, so maybe a black spring at the bottom and red on top. Cheers
Driving a tractor without a cab is one of the nicest feeling you could get. Nice video the massy in the background is getting jealous 😀 😬.

Really really useful thanks for all these videos..
It will be a good tractor for your kids to drive around
Pure glad to see you post this video today. Was rewatching the other parts there on Tuesday to remind myself if how far in you were.

My grandad used to let me "drive" a 135 up a bad road. Quickly learned to keep my fingers out of the center of the steering wheel!

A classic Adrian, I love the cows but that was brilliant 👏
Make sure rubber around gear stick is not worn or cracked, moisture on rain water will get in der👍
Have one here for it 👍
@@IFarmWeFarm Ferguson T20 dont have rubber around the gear stick, that wasnt until the 35's. T20 have a metal collar on the bottom of the gearstick.
Fair play Adrian, that’s gona be a smashing little tractor when you are finished. Wish I had the confidence to take on a project like that

Beautiful tractor I drove one in Guernsey channel Islands great tractor. I would love to work on a farm in southern island
I may ( hopefully) have one of these to do up in the future so watching closely….
I think im right in saying t20 had studs and washers to hold the brake shoes, the pin and spring were fitted to the FE35 onward.
100 percent Mark
Hopefully so, means I’ll not have to take them back off 🤗👍
Yes Mark 100% correct fella..
Be lovely tractor when finished I did 165 Massey for friend was great fun
Great video Adrian your going 2 make a job of her
Exciting!!
Massey Ferguson worldwide is also great Facebook group to join
Great vid would like more of them
love ur videos adrian
pretty sure those mudguard frames are the pressed shape for a 135 and should be solid steel on a t20
You go out on a blustery, snowing winters day without a cab and do a shift and see how “exhilarating” it is 😱😱😱😱😂😂😂😂

“ look at that, good as new “ 🤣
@@IFarmWeFarm get the plasma cutter out too for good measure
In a calving pen in Cavan, aye surely
Go onto Clifford tractor parts Ireland, they are a sub supplier for QTP parts and are hell of a lot cheaper for parts then John Conaty
Clifford's are Brilliant.
good idea with plastic battery cover water proof and wont short the battery like a metal one
Qtp is Matt Buckley’s in zone c mullingar business park. They have some range of parts for every make and model of tractor
Is one of the back ties on the wrong way round? And those front wheels might have to have a little play in them? I am not sure tho lol
Speaking as an ex MF fitter trained up by my now deceased father the best tool for replacing brake springs is the farmers friend, baler twine
My Granda is doing up a ferguson t20
nice project adrian wondering would u put a safety frame on tractor
You don’t need any screws in the brake drum I find as the wheels studs hold it
Love the farm you have always watch you're videos with the father. my father's always asks how many acers or hectare do you have ?
with them front wheels getting lose is it worth using castle nuts and split pins stop it getting loose again?
Hi Adrian. Put some dual wheels on it. They were a factory option in later years, and will look the part.
Keep up the good work.

Hi adrain great video must cheak my brakes on mine where did u source the brake kits for the 20 ?
I bought them on eBay a good while back, weren’t very expensive either
Adrian - are those the original front rims on the T20? If so what size are they?
I’ll find that out later and let you know 👍
Would you put a scraper on it when it’s done
Not really lad, our yards don’t really suit a tractor scrapper.
The hub stud does not need to be sown home as the wheel studs keep the whole lot locked up
Hi Adrian want are you going to use the 20 for
No much, fathers enjoyment really. Sunny Sunday drives mostly
