Marilyn, enjoy your new cooking set-and use them with joy!
Have you ever made corn on the cob with milk and butter? Take your big pot and fill it halfway with water. Then add one cup of milk and one stick of butter/margerine. (A little salt if you want.) Bring that to a rapid boil. Then add 6-8 ears of corn and lower heat. Simmer for 5-8 minutes. Your corn will be so tender! (This is supposed to be an old school Southern recipe, but Amish friends taught it to me. And I am from Ohio as well!)

Thank you, wow thanks for the recipe I need to try it 😋 shout telling my husband 🤫 he's not a milk fan 🤭

No worries, Marilyn! It doesn’t taste milky, but if he doesn’t like butter…I guess you could try it twice! Once either butter and see how that goes and once without butter. I have never done it without butter.
But while I am here, my great-grandmother taught me this trick. When making pasta (or boiling anything), just run a stick of butter or margarine around the top of the pan-and voila! No boiling over! (Truly oil and water do not mix!)

      Sounds good, thanks
Yes I also know that trick, or even just adding a little oil, it's so amazing, I hate when something boils over 😵😉

You could cut them in smaller pieces to fit properly in the pot 😂

Yes they are used a lot, I think it's because they are cheap, and they are easy to use on open fire ☺️
