I'm glad you like it, Wayne! Classic, simple, and historic is what we were going for. (Although to be completely historically accurate, the house should be green with white accents. I love that look for an outbuilding, but not the house itself).
I love it too! I'm seriously going through an "everything green" phase at the moment because I love, love, love that color. If only I could find women's clothes (tops, dresses) in that color ...
Love that green! New paint makes such a difference Can you imagine being the in 1970s and thinking - panelling is the best - we will always love it. That porch is going to be such a treasure
I cannot imagine thinking that about paneling, but I suspect many people did so. It's just so tacky and cheap and not that attractive. But if I'd never been to Europe and seen medieval castles and manor houses and such, maybe I wouldn't know the difference? Hard to say. :P
@@HoneyAppleFarm Yes, definitely you would still think that because it looks so cheap. it doesn't take much to make you think - I would choose better if I could afford it...because it was always and only about cost.
I'm so glad you're enjoying the house renovations! We're keeping the porch ceiling white for now, but we can always paint it blue if the white is too much. Trying to keep it simple for both our budget and our timelines!
I'm so glad you like them! I am loving how the paint is looking on the house - and reminding myself that it's never going to be more clean than it is right now. :P
Oh, your house is so pretty with the green and white paint!!! Just in time for wet November weather - well done! And with electricity coming in to the kitchen, you're closing in on being able to actuallyl live in your house - how exciting!!!
I absolutely LOVE the green and white paint! The electrical lines are definitely moving into the kitchen, but we still don't have power from the pole to the house. So it'll be a few weeks yet before we're all set with power. :)
Diana, there's an existing light wired above the sink, so we'll be replacing that wiring but keeping the light. It was right under the old brick chimney that we took down. Kathy, I'm almost afraid to ask you how you know. ;)
I’m so excited!! It looks amazing! I love the colors! I can’t wait to see that lamp post on. You need to tell Google to come by and update the map street view once they are done. Can’t believe it’s the same house!
LOL. I suspect it may be some time before Google comes by our neck of the woods again! It's astonishing how much the painting changes the look and feel of the house.
Just a thought for the disposal switch. We had ours wired to a push button switch mounted in the front panel of the sink. Really easy to use, takes up little space, leaves another spot for an outlet on the wall. Good to see the paint going on!
Hmmm. I've only ever seen the switch on the wall; I had no idea you could mount it on the front of the sink itself. That would be a lot easier for my short arms to reach!
Amazing what horrors paint will cover. It goes from derelict to new in the course of a week. You must be over the moon over finally SEEING something, instead of paying for things behind the walls that you don't.
Kathleen, you nailed it: It is so good to see the changes instead of just "knowing" they are happening! And yes, it's quite astonishing how much a fresh coat of paint can conceal. :P
The right yellow is such a happy color - I think that's why so many kitchens are painted that color. It will affect whoever cooks in a positive way, which is a good thing for everyone who lives there.
I'm so glad to find yellow kitchen enthusiasts in you, Phyllis and Dottie. Even though I love yellow, I did not like it for a wall color until I stayed in a couple houses that had yellow rooms, and they were so light in the winter! I crave light year-round, but especially in the winter. :)
@@HoneyAppleFarm If the renovation schedule makes it so you don't have light enough rooms this winter, there are many folks who make use of the lights made to counteract SAD.....
@@HoneyAppleFarm Let us know how it's going in February. Upstate NY winters are not for the weak hearted.... I've often resorted to comedy movies that take place in a warm sunny climate.😊
The outside of the house is going to look so fabulous once the painting is finished, and so glad that lamp at the front of the section is going to work. Are you planning on moving in before the inside is finished and working on it while you live there?
I would love to move in ASAP, but since the previous owners let the certificate of occupancy lapse, we're legally not allowed to move in until we get a new certificate. And we can't get a new certificate until the house passes safety standards, things like running water, safe electrics, heating, etc. All of that has to be done before we can move in. But don't worry - there will be lots of projects once we move in! Things like decorating and stripping wallpaper and all kinds of stuff. :D
It's been a common suggestion, Kenneth, but for now we're going with all white for the under ceiling of the porch. If it's too much, we may paint it sky/light blue in future. I do love that color!
Wow! Coming right along! The white with green or black trim was common here in N.S. on the older homes as I remember from childhood. Some people have strayed colorwise from the traditional. Will you paint the doors green as well? .🙂👍👍🇨🇦
Truth be told, Deborah, the green and white theme was half inspired by Anne of Green Gables, which isn't far from you in N.S. It was never a question for us of straying from traditional; we bought this farmhouse because we like traditional farmhouses. :P Yes, the plan is to paint the doors green as well to continue the accent color!
Great colors on the exterior. I'm with Peter I do not like yellow interior paint it's just not clean for me. One thing as we did on our covered porch as we painted the ceiling kind of a sky blue. Maybe you can do that or think about it after they finish painting it white.! Good job Felicity and Peter
Several folks have recommended painting the porch ceiling a sky blue. Right now we plan to stop with white, but as you said, we can always paint over that later! I do like the pale blue that it was previously painted.
Love the paint colours! So exciting to start to get an idea of the finished product. A little concerned about the crooked lower roof at 6:55 ngl - it looks like the left hand outer corner is higher. Is that something that will be addressed with the final fixing of the deck pillars in that area?
I absolutely love the paint colors, and I'm so glad you do too! We were told the deck pillars would be settling, which is one of the reasons they were done early in the build. So yes, we'll be double-checking them for leveling before the whole reno project is done!
Thank you for the watch and the comment, Michigan! Also, I LOVE your handle: Michigan J. Frog, at your service. I feel like that should be a children's book series.
I was worried about the green accents clashing with the more turquoise-green of the roof, but they don't at all. :) Yes, possible that the white was a primer!
Oh my gosh that paint makes an amazing difference. Everything is coming along so beautifully.
I am in love with that color green and the whole painting process! It looks like a real livable house instead of a construction project!
The painting combination gives it classic look from the past.

WOW! A real farm house color!!!!!!!!! Excellent choice!
Oh heck yes! We went full on Anne of Green Gables with this color scheme. :)
It's amazing seeing this house being brought back to life! Thanks for sharing!
It's amazing how much the paint makes the house feel like a house and not just a renovation project. I'm so glad you're along for the journey, Steve!
Love the green, it's gonna be beautiful!!!
