@@cynbloxy well Im sure by now there would also be many who would be against it.....plus it would not bring the victims back. Perhaps for some families of the victims it might bring some peace, but for some others it might only bring the pain back.
With the weight of the water inside, and concrete on it, Not too sure you could lift her with cranes, but the costa concordia laid in almost the same way, they welded tanks to it, and filled it with air, so it rose to the surface on its own
But Concordia was only partially submerged and on coastal waters. The bigger issue with Estonia is it’s in open waters in one of the most hospitable seas. The operation probably would be the most difficult and expensive ever conducted. The timing would have to be perfect when there is no chance of a storms ruining the operation which could take weeks to refloat and secure on a makeshift barge. And I haven’t even gotten to the worst part, the bodies. That’s maybe around 400-500 remains still inside and it will be a long and mentally disturbing process for divers and recovery teams. If you ever get the chance, check out the video on the body recovery of MV St Thomas Aquinas. The mental strain the operation has on the Phillipino dive teams is dreadful and disturbing if you choose to view the video
This would have been the best solution to find out what exactly happened. And with today's DNA technology. Can they probably find out who the person is just through the skeleton And it is after all that relatives can bring home their loved ones. And once the remains of all the people are gone and they can do a proper investigation of the boat. And determine the cause of the crash. And when there is 100% established cause then Estonia is scrapped. This will cost a lot but I think that all countries that were involved I should pay this. Unfortunately, I think that will never happen. The Swedish government will continue to obscure the cause
Подъём Эстонии - большая проблема для Швеции. Им придётся признать, что их подводная лодка протаранила Эстонию. Последствия для Швеции будут тяжёлые. Хотя они опять будут говорить, что это русские. Как всегда...
You are going to need more ships than that to pull up a heavy sunken vessel, and as the metal had weakened over the years (as it's in salt water), it may risk breaking up in the process. Another thing is, is it humane to raise the ship again, given it is a graveyard. And what evidence can be discovered over this wreck that will incriminate the government involved? Won't they just cover that up too anyway?
Honestly I don’t even think there’s anything to incriminate them. The Swedes just mishandled the disaster. The only evidence they’ve tried hiding is their culpability in certifying the ship to sail in the Baltic Sea when it was never designed to do so
Is it humane to leave those poor souls trapped in a watery grave forever? They were trapped on that ship. Might as well let them be free and bring closure to the families and relatives.

I think it wouldn’t split in parts. Look when they salvaged a submarine from WWII and it didn’t slip, so I think it would be possible
@@poddenlapodd6649 Submarines are meant to last underwater tho
@@poddenlapodd6649 cant be compared. The submarine was damaged by implosion and probably also by some type of event. Also they took it up with hooks as it is in such a depth they couldnt be very precise. Estonia has some damage and corrosion but it cant be compared
@@LaggerSVK well what about the Vasa.
It remained pretty strong and it was made out of the same material i think
@@potato1907 Vasa is wooden right? I am not an expert but there are many things going on down there. There is life, microorganisms, there is oxygen and also all is based on temperature so if its something in very cold waters with low oxygen supply it can be there longer. Also some of these ships got under mud and mud preserves very well because oxygen gets depleted under mud.
Let some of ship companies make some offers to lift it up and everyone can see tees.
We have best conditions for lifting the Estonia: Just 85 meters deep, good condition of the wreck and it will not become that expansive as it looks. Costa Concordia was much more expensive. There are no reasons not to lift Estonia. Its so important to become clear with this tragedy. Everybody wants it, excluding some Swedish guys.....
and the Costa Concordia just capsized and never fully sank
The thing is the swedes were smuggling soviet technology so they don’t want the wreck to be recovered or dived to because the items will be discovered.
@@fv1zn that’s complete bullshit, it’s because they signed a treaty in 1995 to say that it is the final place of rest for the victims of the disaster

Tho it would be nice to bring her back i feel like it would be like disturbing a resting site or burial ground not to mention the strain lifting something like that would cause on the possibility very unstable superstructure i think Estonia should remain where she is shes been there for over 26 years and though again it would be fantastic to finally get to the bottom of it all i think it would be kinda disrespectful to all who lost their lives in this extremely tragic disaster and due to the harshness of the baltic sea and the way she came to rest the ship may be too weak to raise i mean no disrespect to to anyone affected by the horrendous tragedy my heart pours out to all the families and friends still affected by it but i think we should let Estonia sleep
no, it is disrespectful to just leave the bodies on the bottom of the sea. Lift the ship, bury the dead, learn the truth...
@@astraalimatkustaja923 as stated above in line 1 and line 8 tho it would be nice to bring her back and get to the bottom of it all raising her would probably do more damage then good the structural integrity cannot be guaranteed after 26 years the VDF has been recovered and survivers have told their account of the disaster and there is not a lot more we can know about the already reported damage to the bow visor or the gash in the ship as for the bodies there are none left to recover as after 5 years or 7 years max they would have decomposed the families have already laid their relatives to rest you also have to take into consideration the toll it would take on their mental health and wellbeing the dead should not be disturbed this is not an argument this is my opinion and tho i respect yours is still stand by my statement above Estonia should not be moved out of respect for her and the passengers she carried to the after life...
@@Gary-mv4gp Dont talk about relatives laying them to rest, they never have never will rest until they are buried in the soil in which they were born, neither will any Estonian ever forget about this incident, every person I know, would agree with buying the remains in the ground and lifting the ship. @@Gary-mv4gp So the 69 meter-long warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in Stockholm harbor in 1628 and was salvaged 333 years later in 1961, and it's been put back together. Estonia should be easy to recover with todays tech. But the swedish government don't want to reveal the truth, do they?
They need to raise it up to retrieve the lost souls :(
The Estonia Treaty should be revoked and the wreck risen.
It cannot be revoked, that would also be a crime, since it states “this the the final place of rest for the 800+ victims of the accident

The big mistake of the politicians must finally be corrected. To solve the two questions: one very big outward bent hole, one new hole found in the side hull. I am Dutch, any Dutch hauling firm can do it. They did it with the Kursk, too, huge job.
We need to get her up and we need to make a museum for her and most of all we need to find out what really happened to her
If they do that then all the cars can be a lot of DAMAGE.

Phil Swift: Wow that's a lot of Damage
She needs to be brought back, just like they recovered the SEWOL. Only then is it over.

What’s sad about it is that there are still bodies trapped in the ship and the families affected could have a proper burial for their loved ones
Maybe One day we'll have the technology and resources to be able to lift massive ships from the sea. I'd like to stick around for that to happen
It will never happen, its too expensive. 2. There are to many questions to be asked after that.

What purpose could such a wreck salvage serve, and what could be found in the Estonia?
It could help solve why it sank, which sweden doesnt want, oddly. Maybe sweden had something to do with it
Are they actually planning to raise it?
it's forbidden by swedish and finnish law
good video
That's a great animation. But I think it would be more involved then two ships with cable crane's. Lifting it. It was deemed a burial tomb. But it is eventually gonna start leaking fuel as well as all the cargo n trucks, vehicles as erodes away. Sweden has some of the best salvage companies in the world.
Imagine seeing actual fucking skeletons fall out of the windows
U mean decomposing bodies
They'll never raise it. There are bodies inside and it's a touchy subject among survivors and the families of the dead.
Watch the documentary... The families and survivors wanted the ship to be raised and there was massive outrage when they decided not to
@@cynbloxy well Im sure by now there would also be many who would be against it.....plus it would not bring the victims back. Perhaps for some families of the victims it might bring some peace, but for some others it might only bring the pain back.

Raise The MS Estonia
Wow
Võiks tõeks saada. Inimesed ootavad vastuseid!
How do you animate this?
Using an animation software. Maybe Maya, maybe something else.
@@thedesertrat_9514 After 27 years I dont think a lot of human remains will be left... probably bones

Let it the victims rest, this is now a mass grave and should be treated with respect and left alone.
Is this is a nimation or a game? If its a game I want the name of it
This would have been the best solution to find out what exactly happened.
They should do like they did with the USS Arizona, build a memorial over the Estonia wreck
it be interesting to see them actually raise it. as for the dead id say give em a better ending
Its much harder than this

Raise the titanic 2 (sequel) lifting the lost ferry. (Movie)
Estonia is literally similar to oceanos
