- Just a quick video showing how to install the hall effect joysticks for the R36s. I am writing this a day after recording and have to say its a night day difference. I already ordered a set for the RG353V.
@JoeysRetroHandhelds shout out because I got the fix me part of my thumbnail from you.
Order yours here

I think this is the ONLY video with hall effect upgrades, nice! Great game test choice also, underrated CVS game
Thank you my friend. I have more content for the R36s coming very soon. I appreciate your comment and look forward to what you think of my upcoming video.
@@2LoudTech thanks for the pin! I'm also thinking about upgrade, I wonder how you calibrate it in r36s?
@suhtangwong You’re welcome my friend. I don’t know how I missed this comment. Actually I spent a good bit of time on Reddit trying to find a solution to calibrating the sticks. After a couple days I gave up and just played the device and in doing so I realized atleast to my super mega calibrated eyes and fingers they seem more then adequate for the types of games I frequent on the R36s. 🫡
Yooo, I had no idea you can even upgrade the joysticks in this thing! Thanks for the tutorial!
No problem my friend. I’m always looking at ways to help the community. Glad this helped you. Honestly the upgrade was well worth it and very easy.
No soldering! It’s a go for me! Thanks, buddy!
Great video! God bless you and yours. Praying for you!
Thank you 🙏 prayers are highly appreciated here. God bless you and your family as well. Also thank you for the support. ✌🏽
Thank you, I've been waiting for confirmation on if these work or not. Will you be making an update video after using them for a bit?
Yes I plan an update video in a week or so. I want to get some time in with the sticks. I’ve been playing it a bit today and tested the right joystick in the drastic ds emulator as a pen and it worked as expected. So far they are great and much better than factory.
Heads up, These sticks on many devices require calibration to get the full range of motion. So depending on what you're playing this can be a problem on this device with theses sticks. Probably best to only do this mod if the original sticks are failing. At least until there is a calibration utility for this handheld otherwise you're playing the lato on whether or not you get a set of sticks with values close to the original stock sticks.
You can calibrate using ssh. My left joystick already had bad drift and instead of going through the hassle of sending the device around I the world during holiday season I opted for this. But if you need a video on calibrating then I can through one up. I have not needed to calibrate these sticks on this device but I have on other devices.
@@2LoudTech I think it would be really helpful if you could.
@@hamsterwolf got you my friend. I’m out of town on vacation for the Holidays but I’ll make one when I get back to my office.
How do you calibrate new sticks to be used on a retro handhelds? I bought some regular switch sticks for my powkiddy x55 its brand new, but it doesnt worked properly in game @@2LoudTech
You know how can I change the rotation screen to vertical, is in horizontal?😢
I broke some parts of the sticks on the pallet, now I only have arrows but when I try to play ps1 games moving arrows doesn’t work, nintendo games does, is there any settings to turn off sticks from system?
To me this upgrade isn't worth it. Mine worked for 2 days and maybe 3 hours of play time before they started drifting. Yes, the hall effect sticks can also drift because of internal parts even if the sensors are fine. Genuine Gulikit from Amazon too. The original sticks never drifted and now I bought some basic replacement sticks for much less money that have been working fine for weeks.
That’s sucks that you had that experience. I’ve had mine in for months without issue. I have literally 100+ hours of play time with them and they work perfect. I guess everything is a roll of the dice now days. I still feel this is the best upgrade possible for this device.
when are you posting the video on how to calibrate the sticks?
Have not had the need to calibrate. I play a lot of twin stick shooters and the sticks have been on point. Curious have you done the Joystick upgrade and are having issues with calibration?
@@2LoudTech no I have not done the upgrade, but planning to do so. With either this or wait till my rg353v comes in. But I wanted to see what program or software will allow us to calibrate the sticks.
@@ChoaYeon I will look into it for you but like I said the sticks work perfect without calibration. Let me get back to you tomorrow with some answers. ✌️
I don't understand why people even bother with these Switch's sticks. They are some of the worst sticks I've ever used in my 30+ experience with thumb sticks. I just tossed them aside immediately the first time I bought my Switch and never touch them since, don't even know where the hell they are now.
stock switch sticks suck the hall effect is driftless
Yes I agree I also don't favor switch sticks but on a compact device I don't have a problem with them when they are not drifting. The hall effects have been flawless though.
Toy compare stock switch sticks with hall effect ones? These work completely different, hall effect are contactless
My FN button does'nt works ;( ITS not pressing
Can we upgrade Nintendo joystick to r36s??
I was thinking since i received the machine in change the speaker, do you think that it's possible?
Yes it’s possible to change the speaker but why would you? It’s a good speaker? I’m just curious.
@@2LoudTech The speaker is not entirely bad, but it does lack quality, a lot of distortion at high volume, and perhaps there is room for improvement. It's just curiosity! 😄
I can understand that my friend. I don’t play with the device at very high volume but you have peaked my interest a bit. I will probably look around later and see if I can find a speaker that would fit nicely in the R36s. If I find one to order, I’ll share a link to it. ✌️
@@2LoudTech I hope you can upload a video, since there are many of us who have the same doubt and curiosity! On other consoles, I have seen that mobile phone speakers, purchased as spare parts on Aliexpress, worked ❤️
Do the psp buttons fit on this console?
I had not even thought about that I will try my psp buttons and if it works I'll make a video.
I did the upgrade & got stick drift after 3 hours
Great video!
Do you have any solution for DPAD problem?
I actually got lucky and my dpad is not overly sensitive. It's actually spot on.. I assume that's what you are talking about. I do have some different membranes coming in that I ordered to try on the r36s but I can try them on the rg353v as well if your interested.
@@2LoudTechMy problem with DPAD is that I can't do diagonals with consistency :( With another membranes do you think that it can be fixed?
I have the same issues bad diagonals on D-pad
There’s videos online how to remedy this dudes. There’s a certain screw in the motherboard just behind the D pad you can loosen slightly and it should make it a lot easier to handle.
can u use nintendo switch joysticks?
Yes you can. I have a link to the ones I used in the description.
You know if we can also upgrade the te buttons or the dpad?
I am currently waiting for a couple different DPad and face button membranes to see if we can soften the feeling of the buttons. They are by no means deal breaking from factory but can definitely be improved. I’ll be reporting my findings once I receive the parts I’m waiting for.
Hi there! Did you end up receiving the buttons and membranes you ordered? Did they make a difference? It looks like some membranes from anbernic and powkiddy should be compatible and I was planning on trying to get my hands on those, but was interested in hearing if you found they improved the experience. Have a nice day! @@2LoudTech
Can the speaker be upgraded?
I'm sure it could. I've not looked into it. Maybe a future project.
The speakers are already very loud and crisp. I have the mm+ and speakers very faint, upgraded that too.
Who is the manufacturer of this analog kit?
What is the name of this theme and is that the one you use?
