    I have a message for all of you tube users. Have you noticed the change in how you can share information? You can no longer choose to share with a specific person, like a friend or relative. You can only choose the social media options. I find this to be a very bad omen. We are being stripped of our personal freedom and the right to communicate directly with someone when we have a subject we want to bring to their attention. We shouldn't have to go through the social media, which is not a guarantee that an individual will see it. I prefer letting them know by an email, but it not as quick and convenient as the former method of sharing that we no longer have access to.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon 6 лет назад +3

      There is no "personal freedom" on privately owned websites. That's as stupid as all your genetically illiterate comments about foods. Nobody is stopping you from posting or sending links to anyone with an email account. If you're referring to the channel page messaging here, it has always been hit or miss, many don't have that option which depends on how the account was opened. If a "friend or relative" has not given you their email address it's time to catch a clue.....

      Wrong. Pat has initiated every encounter by posting idiotic lies and conspiracy theories, especially about GMOs. Pat is the troll and now tries to deny it. Scroll down to see Pat's idiotic claim that Hawiian pineapple is GMO. It is not. Pat even tries to say that since Monsanto creates seed, the plants grown by Dole are "Monsanto products". Monsanto grows no foods for consumption, idiot.

      Dede - thanks for forfeiting this debate without ever trying to defend your stance with proof. You just stooped to trying to poison the well by playing the shill gambit. I win this one by default and I win most with citations of proof that you foil hatters never offer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_the_well
      Next time try a cogent refutation with verifiable legitimate sources. That's how you win debates.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon 6 лет назад +1

      Pat won't admit that social media banned fake news. His hero Mike Adams was both arrested by the FBI for fraud and banned from Facebook for fake news violations with his Natural News fraud site. www.geneticliteracyproject.org/2014/07/28/fbi-turns-up-heat-on-mike-adams-as-health-ranger-fiasco-widens-plus-adams-archive/

    What are your qualifications to make any pronouncements on the health benefits or risks of any of these GMO foods? The scientific consensus on these foods is in and everyone from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (120,000 scientist members) to the European Commission says plants organisms bred through genetic engineering are no more dangerous than those bred through conventional means. Genetic engineering is our only hope to make food crops that resist global warming, resist pest pressures, increase yield per acreage and enhance food nutrition. As the world population grows to 9 billion in 2050 and 12 billion in the year 2100, anyone who opposes genetic engineering is condemning billions to starvation and famine. Snap out of this "Let them eat cake" attitude before you do real damage.

    • @andrewj4426
      @andrewj4426 7 лет назад +1

      The danger is not the modification itself. The danger is in the use of herbicedes and pesticides. GMOs are engineered to withstand 10 to 50 times the amount of glyphosate (Roundup) than a nature created plant. So this means that when you consume GMO food you are also consuming Glyphosate. Agent orange was thought to be safe and all these Vietnam vets started getting non-hodgkins lymphoma including my step dad that died from the disease. By the way agent orange was created by Monstanto, as DDT which was also banned. The WHO says Glyphosate is a likely carcinogen. Hmmmm that's a tough choice should I believe the FDA paid by Monsanto using Monstanto data or indepnendent scientists

    • @prieten49
      @prieten49 7 лет назад

      Standard fallacious anti-GMO talking points. SOME GMOs are engineered to be herbicide resistant, not all of them. Glyphosate is a far safer herbicide than the ones it replaced and residual levels of Glyphosate used on the crops are far below any level toxic to humans. Then you trot out Agent Orange from the Vietnam War. Agent Orange was never thought to be safe. Agent Orange was created by DOW Chemical and made by Monsanto under license. WHO doesn't say Glyphosate is a carcinogen, one of its agencies said it is "probably a carcinogen" which puts Glyphosate in the same category as frying oil and barbershop chemicals. It did not get rated as a category 1 carcinogen. The FDA and every European safety agency looked at all of the scientific research done over the years and concluded Glyphosate was not carcinogenic. The WHO IARC looked AT THE EXACT SAME research and was the only agency to come to a different conclusion. The timing of the "finding" just when Glyphosate was up for renewal of its approval in Europe strongly suggests there were political motivations behind it.

    • @andrewj4426
      @andrewj4426 7 лет назад

      Not all GMOs are the same, i agree. The FDA had banned Stevia for 50 years from being used as a sweetner. It took Coca Cola Co. Truvia to lobby and make it legal. FDA is just a political arm or the food and drug companies. Keep sucking in that poison. not my problem except when you get cancer people like me will subsidize your healthcare.

    • @charlesmrader
      @charlesmrader 2 года назад

      @@patsycav Incredible! Canola is an oil produced from rapeseed. The original rapeseed oil was too bitter to eat. By crossing two different species of rapeseed, Canadian agricultural scientists were able to make a cross with a palatable oil. The resulting PLANT is a canola plant. The resulting oil is Canola oil. Does that mean it is Canadian oil oil? It has nothing whatsoever to do with corn. Corn grown for fuel is not an oil. It is treated to extract the sugar and starch and these are fermented to make alcohol. Alcohol is not oil, and it is not Canadian oil. Canola was developed in the 1970s, about twenty years before anyone knew how to make a GMO plant.

    This is an old video, so you may have already updated your thoughts on this. I am absolutely no fan of Monsanto (now owned by Bayer, I think) and I don‘t know what effects glyphosate has on humans, but the fact is GMO do NOT cause any harm to humans! This has been studied and studied and there is just no data showing that GMO foods do anything more than digest in the same way non-GMO foods do. Think about it, we have been modifying the genetics of most of the foods we eat for centuries if not millennia. Before it was genetically modified an ear of corn was little more than a piece of grass with some large seeds that humans found they could eat. Throughout the centuries the genes were modified through cross breeding to get to the product we know and love today. The only difference today is that instead of having to grow many generations of a crop, randomly developing the traits we want, we are now able to select specific genes to splice into the genomics of the crops we eat to create the desired end results, such as increased yields and disease and pest resistance. I love my home garden, and grow as much of my own food as I can, however with a population of over 7 billion people and growing, the truth is we need GMO‘s to keep portions of the population from facing famine. Warn us about pesticides and other chemicals, but please give folks the correct info on GMO crops that we use today. Thank you!

      "As we approach the 2020s, many consumers have accepted the marketing/activist narrative that organic farming would be the best option for food safety and to mitigate the most damaging effects of climate change. The inconvenient truth is that organic farming is a terrible option from a climate change perspective. Its dependence on manures and compost involves huge, but rarely recognized, greenhouse gas emissions in the form of very potent methane and nitrous oxide.
      But perhaps its biggest climate change issue is that organic farms are mostly less productive per unit area than “conventionally” farmed land. With rising food demand driven mostly by rising standards of living in the developing world, there is a need to boost farm production, and that means the very undesirable conversion of forests or grasslands to agriculture in places like Brazil. That leads to major carbon dioxide release from what had been sequestered carbon in the soils, and also the loss of biodiversity and other environmental services provided by those natural lands.
      In 1990, the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) was charged by Congress with establishing a national organic standard to supersede the fragmented certification systems that had evolved to that time. It was a major struggle because the very science-oriented USDA was at odds with the early organic marketers who had focused entirely on the narrative that what is “natural” is always best. The marketers finally prevailed. When the national organic standards were issued in 2002, they were not based on science but rather on the naturalistic fallacy. So here is the big picture. The only crop category for which organic yields were higher than the 2016 US average was for forage crops for feeding animals. To have produced all of the US agricultural output from 2016 as organic would have required more than 100 million more acres to have been farmed-an area greater than that of the entire state of California, the third largest US state. That amount of new land suitable for farming clearly does not exist in the US, and so that shortfall would induce more conversion of forest and grassland into farming in places like Brazil, leading to major releases of previously sequestered carbon in those soils"
      This informative article goes on to use eleven charts and graphs from government data to prove in great detail just how inferior organic farming is. geneticliteracyproject . org/2019/10/07/viewpoint-dont-buy-organic-food-if-you-want-to-seriously-address-climate-change/

It is always the easiest to talk down on farmers and farming practices. Use a garden hoe and tell me if pesticides shouldn't exist. Those are all foods except aspartame, an artificial sweetener. ONLY zucchinis and the Hawaiian papaya are GMOs. GM corn and soy go into cattle feed and ethanol. Eggs and honey have not changed. Under the new 2020 labeling law, it is no longer legal to label refined sweeteners and oils as GMO. Organic sourced canola and sweeteners are chemically identical to GM canola and sweeteners so that will no longer be mentioned on labels.

    Disagree with the Gmo comment about the bees and honey. Although its true about the fact that honey has fallen victim to Gmo, she did not explain why. They are GMO because they simply pollenate flowers and plant that have been modified. Also these bees are not natural bees and have been modified also. You can find the natural bees in places like Jamaica etc....Natural bees are a lot smaller than the ones we are used to seeing.

    *GMO 20-year safety endorsement: 280 science institutions, more than 3,000 studies*
    "Currently, there is a social and political controversy about the safety of foods produced from genetically modified (GM) crops. However, in the scientific community, there is no dispute or controversy regarding the safety of these crops. To date, more than 3,000 scientific studies [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] have assessed the safety of these crops in terms of human health and environmental impact. These studies together with several reviews performed on a case-by-case from regulatory agencies around the world have enabled a solid and clear scientific consensus: GM crops have no more risk than those that have been developed by conventional breeding techniques.

    In addition, there is also extensive literature that compiles the socioeconomic and environmental benefits that transgenic crops have reported in two decades of commercialization [9,10].
    This document brings together the public statements of technical and scientific institutions that adhere to this consensus. I made an update based on this document from ChileBio that initially included 40 official documents representing about 190 institutions - the document from ChileBio was subsequently updated in 2017 with the institutions and statements attached here.
    The update shows that 284 technical and scientific institutions recognize the safety of GM crops and their potential benefits. Interestingly a large part of these institutions are located in Europe, the continent that has put more obstacles to the commercialization of these crops. On the other hand, the countries with most organizations in favor of GM crops are United Kingdom (33), United States (25), Italy (23), Spain (16) and Germany (11).
    In conclusion, 284 technical and scientific institutions recognize that GM crops are not riskier than those produced by conventional breeding, and/or the potential benefits of these crops."

    I am writing this in late November, 2016. Early in spring I saved a cherry tomato I got at the store. Hoping for plantable seeds. But that thing wouldn't wilt with age but I kept it and kept waiting. Finally, last week it started to collapse. Imagine! it took it about 10 months to start to wilt!!!! did I mention that I kept it on my nightstand, not a fridge! I think it's a little monster cherry tomato from outer space. ...Either that or a GMO. I'm willing to think it's GMO. The thing is kinda scary.

      I am concerned about the so-called organic food with a number 9 to show it's organic. I have apples with organic stickers in my fridge for two or three months, that still haven't gone bad. I'm not sure whether to eat them or throw them away. I had been giving slices to my dog, as he loved them, and he became so ill that he couldn't eat or even drink water. He lost weight and no amount of coaxing would work. I made him soft boiled eggs, oatmeal, and rice. Then one day, I offered him small pieces of baked ham, which he ate, but threw it up later. I blamed it on the fact that his stomach had probably shrunk. He finally had to be put to sleep by a vet, as I couldn't let him suffer any more. My heart is broken. Was it the apples, or was it his dog food, which he had failed to finish on the second day after I opened a new bag. On the third day, he stopped eating altogether. I can't stop asking myself, "what killed my sweet fur baby?" He had been fine until I opened that new bag of Beneful Incredibites. I always ordered the grainfree chicken and the new bag was with beef. You can't trust dry dog food. Feed your dog chicken, eggs, rice and carrots, sweet potatoes and peas. I wish I could rewind and do this myself for my poor Sammy.

Anything "Highlighted" is to help you remember and/or leave well alone, here goes; Artificial Flavours/Colours. "Enriched" Wheat. Potassium Sorbate. "Hydrogenated" Oils. Soy Lecethin. Monosodium "Glutamate" (MSG) A slow poison hiding behind such as "Natural"~"Flavouring". "Yeast Extract". "Autolysed Yeast Extract". "Disodium Guanylate". Textured Protein. Anything "Hydrolysed". Sugar. High Fructose Corn Syrup HFCS. "Corn Syrup". Anything corn related I would leave well alone. Polysorbate. Potassium "Benzoate". "Acesulfame". Sucralose ~ Splenda is simply a sugar "Chlorinated". Aspartame ~Trade Mark ~ NutraSweet. "Soy". Canola Oil. Most major brands of chewing gum. And lastly Maltodextrin, this you will find in anything from stock cubes, soups, tablets, you name it, look it up on the Good the Bad and the Ugly side of maltodextrin. (Basically it's as bad if not worse than sugar) So there you go people stay safe ~ stay healthy.

If people used to be able to afford organic then they should be able to now when people are supposed to be more rich and stuff. There is wild herbs and weeds. if you do some research you can get these for free and they can have much better nutrition than the stuff in the store. Then you can have a garden too. You can even make money with these and should also make savings like in health care. If you buy nutrient deficient foods then you might eat loads of bulk but are still not getting the nutrients so you might find it is deceptive and not really cheaper at all whereas the real quality stuff is what gets you where you need to go.

      I'm so glad that some mothers like yourself express concern about what they feed their children, most have NO idea what they are doing when they give them the powder milk. breast feeding is super crucial and sooo much better as far as nutrition is concerned. but I would say blend up fruit and vegetables yourself and put healthy spices/herbs.. you can probably look up online recipes of people who do it. I knew someone who actually made their own baby food and smoothies for their young children

Corn, soybeans, beet sugar,papaya, canola, and zucchini, and anything made with these products. not wheat, apples,pears.peaches.grapes, cane sugar, barley, oats, oranges, grapefruit, figs, tomatos.potatos. Strawberries + Flounder
      Could a strawberry have sex with a fish? No! But in a lab a Flounders gene is spliced into a strawberry becoming a GMO mutant.

    GMOs are in almost every food thats on the market in in the US even the so called organics, whole foods. Etc we just need to figure out a way to conteract Gmo effects on or bodies. I can tell u Some so called organics, is just a name to get u to buy. Companies care about making money not the safety of the people. Best way research what can counteract causes of disease,of which some are caused by foods we eat like GMOs and processed foods. Some medication s are made with GMOs!!! I will, GMO technology is about farmers like me using much much less pesticides and much much safer pesticides with the pesticides even safer than many of the pesticides that Organic growers use. The CBS Evening News had a piece 8-30-2017 on how gmo technology was being use to cure some cancers. They showed exactly how is being done and they are also working on other cancers trying to cure them. Man has been breeding plants in all different ways for thousands of years to help benefit mankind. 500 years ago a carrot was pure white. GMO technology is use in many things to better the world. Almost all Insulin used today by diabetics is GMO insulin. GMO rennet has been used for decades to make cheese. The cheese making enzyme breaks down proteins and separates them from whey. Golden Rice to benefit vitamin A-deficient children. & BT CORN AND COTTON. GMO proteins include blood- clotting factors to help Hemophiliacs, the hepatitis B vaccine, thyroid hormones, laundry detergent enzymes, and many synthetically produced amino acids used in nutritional supplements. There are many many many more benefits of GMO technologies. We all should give thanks to GOD for giving us the wisdom of GMO and stand up to those that tell lies about GOD's blessings trying to play GOD themselves trying to take away his blessings. www.cbs.com/shows/cbs_evening_news/video/unavz0ldRHLRSnhW_KZvIifswdeSBS9C/fda-approves-brand-new-way-to-treat-leukemia/

      Jo Lind I agree with this comment I have been looking for a simple list of Non GMO fruits and vegetables all over the internet and cannot find any, plus I thought it was common knowledge that anything ready made is modified, and in addition all things produced from animals usually comes with some harm because how would we know exactly what their diet was before their milk, or eggs were taken or before they were killed to be eaten.
