Nah, it's just the outfit. Final Fantasy has always had Arabic and Eastern influences mixed into European high fantasy and science fiction with designs. Yoshitaka Amano artwork shows a lot of Middle Eastern influences

Well, in Lightning Returns they were the two humans to bring the souls of all the people to the new world, the one we live in according to Lightning's endgame monologue. So the allusion still sort of works. And it also goes very well with LR's idea that human souls matter more than bodies, which gods can create and destroy at will.
So if a man and a woman had a two children then the children screwed each other they would just re populate with incest. But u would prefer that over a lesbian couple XD
