OMG!! I’m so excited to see what you thought of this one!! So fun, this is one of my favorites to perform live too. :) :) THANKS FOR SHARING MY MUSIC WITH YOUR AUDIENCE!!!!
You LOTR album helped me through a very tough time when my wife passed, we even shortly spoke about it back in 2016. Also, for anyone reading here, the album version featuring Taylor Davis on violin is also beautiful, the single violin is a perfect match for your voice.
Pfft. You're the GOAT. I wish I could layer 200+ tracks like you do and sound just as epic. Thank you for making such amazing music, and supporting other creators as you do!
16:14 I just can’t get over this moment. It sounds and _feels_ like an entire crowd of people SCREAMING. It fits so well. It’s exactly as if the singer of the song first sees Smaug’s shadow flying above, completely dwarfing everything below, and then hears people screaming, and they don’t understand it until they _see fire_ and then suddenly the music is loud and overwhelming because everything around them is now loud and terrible, and there’s screaming everywhere, their entire world is just being destroyed. It fits SO WELL.
This song is so pure and beautiful. Mr. Hollie’s makes my hairs stand on end. On the songs he couples with Tim Foust……..Shut the front door! Amazing. The human voice is by far the most beautiful instrument and I am so thankful at 60, I still have mine.
Watching you bounce and smile with joy make me happy. I love how much you love doing this. This is how we make the world a better place, spreading joy in the little things. Thank you.
I just absolutely LOVE watching your facial expressions change every time you become more and more excited with every new sound you discover as you listen to this song! It makes me excited and happy watching you! I love your perspective on music and the way you explain it so much!
Peter multitracks like Freddie. Peter executes vocal runs like a jazz singer with the accuracy of Freddie. King Diamond proudly proclaims, "King Diamond -- All Vocals". He never proclaims, "King Diamond -- Entire Bandwidth of Sound" This is the enveloping roar of a one-man vocal army. Stunning artistry.
Last night showed my wife A Peter Hollens video with him working with a children's choir of 200. Today I find that Elizabeth is doing another Hollens reaction AND an interview. Coincidence? I think not. The musical powers that be, where priming us for Friday. AWESOME!
Thank you so much for doing a video on this!! I had never heard of him before but was absolutely blow away by this cover!! Will definitely be following him now!!
I've just come across your channel and have been binge watching for hours. This is my favorite version of my favorite song ever. I am anything but musically gifted, so listening to you explain, dive into and break down the depth and complexity of this is incredible and just clarifies and crystalizes so much about why I love this song, but I never had to knowledge to express exactly what about it grabs at me so deeply.
This is awesome!! Years ago, I would see him every Friday in the fish bowl at the UofO when he was in On The Rocks A Cappella group. Such good memories!!
While I really would love to hear her react to Feuerschwanz's cover of I see fire, I would almost more want to see her react to and analyze DING with Melissa Bonny...
I love this rendition of "I See Fire" the most. It was actually the first version of the song I heard so it killed the original version for me, because this version sounds like how the original should have been done. Love all of Peter's songs. Amazing acapella musician/composer.
Been a Peter Hollens fan for absolute ages, and I love seeing you review his pieces. I don't know squat about voice, but I know what I like, and seeing you with all your accolades and credits react in pretty much the same way is so awesome. I'd love to see you react to he and Maluka's cover of 'Baba Yetu'
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time listening to this song, and I loved the performance. I never heard the original song by Ed Sheeran, but Peter's vocals in this rendition was absolutely amazing. I was impressed by the several different vocal parts he sang on multiple tracks, and the use of his body percussion added to the presentation. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
Totally awesome. I was listening to Peter Hollens earlier today and thinking it would be so great if you did a reaction. I have to admit I have a tender spot for LOTR, since I bought and read the first book before 1970.
Wow! Peter's version of this song sounds fantastic, and your reaction was a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and infectious enthusiasm. There's a fabulous version of Babu Yetu that Peter did with Malukah, and some Skyrim-related songs they did as well that I'm sure you'd enjoy. There's also a great version of I See Fire by Malinda and Violet Orlandi.
Nice to listen to someone who can truly appreciate what Peter does - and break it down in a way that we understand the incredible precision. I also love her excitement at each new sound which is exactly how I respond to this masterpiece.
For those that were expecting metal on Friday as usual, the theme of this song is basically "Shit!! It's a dragon!!" It's pretty damn metal. Funny thing, I was not impressed with the original song, but I've heard at least half a dozen covers of it that I love including this one. Peter is an amazing artist and I can't wait to get Elizabeth's reaction and insight into his beautiful voice and walls of vocal harmony. He seems a super chill guy so the interview should be another gem in the Zharoff crown.
Yeah, this is one where I’ve been collecting covers without ever having heard the original. Feuerschwanz being the first I heard and Toehider the latest.
@@oglschmitt Yeah, and the more melodic, more classically influenced stuff always brings the best out of E. I can't wait for her reaction to Rhapsody's Vivaldi on speed type of metal. It's gonna be funny. 😈🤩🤣🤣🤣
Ed Sheeran is my favorite singer and songwriter, and I absolutely adore this song. Peter is an unmatchable legend, and his stunning talent shows in everything he does. And you, Elizabeth, are an absolute treat.
What even is this man's range! While listening to this, my husband said "eeh he doesn't do much for me..." so I launched into a 15 min rant of all the reasons why and how he's an incredible artist... Hubby just went "wow... turns out I just didn't know what I was listening to." He's now also impressed 😂
This song, Ed Sheerans version, is what got me through my first deployment overseas. I interpreted the lyrics towards myself and my fellow soldiers... My brothers in arms. It really warmed my soul in a special way and gave my a fire in my belly I never knew...
This was the first Peter Hollens vid I ever watched, and it still has a special place in my heart. One of my favorite songs and, as a Middle Earth nerd, I am thrilled especially with the fact that he created the dual melody lines. It makes me think of Thorin and Frerin, who most people forget existed.
What I like is you listen SO intently. Sometimes you are looking at the video but other times there is a really far-away look on your face which to me says you’re cataloging different sounds or timing and when excited seeing your eyes get big before the giggling starts as if you can’t contain your joy and/or your awe at feeling the music and hearing something remarkable.😍😀☺️💖
15:30 For me at least, its the pause before the crescendo. Everything but the main vocal stops rather abruptly for a split second then comes back dramatically. Its my favorite part of the song both in Peter's version and the Celtic Women version
I love Peter Hollens. He’s insane. One of these days I’ll be awake in time for a premiere! Suggestion time: Poets of the Fall - “Carnival of Rust” Alexander Theatre Sessions version.
Enjoyed it ma'am. Forget A Cappella, this is music INDUSTRY good! This song to me is a unique mix of fight song and tragedy song. Makes me think of preparin for war and then fightin it but also seein the pain, desolation and sufferin because of it. A unique song for sure and I feel that Peter's cover of it is several levels above the film version. I of course say that with all respect to the original performers. I've been known to "sing" a little bass and dabble in "cookin" as well and I've always looked at a good song, or maybe a good performance rather, as a good recipe. Start with a solid base, add a strong, flavorful ingredient here, mellow that out with a pinch of seasonin there and you end up with a climax of flavor for all the senses to savour! Could be I'm just crazy like that, but that's how I think of it. Thank ye ma'am for sharin your prejudiced expertise and your cheery disposition. Hope you and yorn have a goodun! ✝️🤠
I love your joy with this one. You mention about how many layers he has going, I sometimes miss some of his old videos where he has a text overlay at the beginning saying just how many tracks are layers in the video. (Some of the collabs with Lindsay Stirling come to mind as it says how many vocal tracks and violin tracks.) Possibly an unpopular opinion: I actually prefer this version to Ed's version. I like the original and it's definitely good, but there's just something about this one that I just prefer.
salutations from norway. Thank you, you are my only reviewer of great vocal's. I think I have seen about everyone of your videos. You are simply the best. I would really love to se you react and review Peter Hollens duett with Ari Kaplan "black is the color". You are in for a treat :) I wont say no more, dont wont to spoil things :)
I LOVE THIS SONG 15 years ago I struggled with drugs happly sober now but this song helps me fight the demons who try an brake that 15 years this version is amazing
FINALLY! My favorite PH video. Like this more than Ed's. This is I think better than a different video he has done. The visualization of him actually doing the work is very appealing to me. Well done by all. Keep them coming. Oh! There's an attractive young lady reacting on RUclips who reminds people of you. Her name is Addie. Again thanks for what you do.
Well done as always! I was looking forward to your reaction to this song, particularly the last section of the song which is the part that always gives me goosebumps. Peter dose a lot of work with The Hound + The Fox. I think you’d love their cover of Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me or Bette Middler’s The Rose.
Thank you for an absolutely great reaction Elizabeth. I enjoyed it so much. I love LOTR/Hobbit related music. You continue to reign as the best You Tube reactor out there. I wanted to make you aware of something. I apologize if you have already heard it. Your favorite teenage contralto has just released a new live performance of an Elvis Presley cover. I Can't Help Falling Love. I would add the Diana's voice has grown both in range and power since you covered her last. It's the first time I have heard Diana with an electric guitar backup. Food for thought. Stay safe.
I am really enjoying your reactions. It’s easy to see just how the music is affecting you and it’s a mix of the song itself and the technical aspects of the performance. And pointing out little things the rest of us probably hear but don’t realize what and how it is being done. I love magic, as in stage magic and close-up. I can be just as mystified as any in the audience but, as a former amateur magician, I have a bit of know, edge of how many of the illusions are performed. Instead of making men bored, it makes me appreciate the performer even more.i once had the chance to be on stage with Jeff McBride years ago and he did the coin production bucket illusion. I know the mechanisms involved and he was doing some of the productions literally under my nose; I could not see the ‘gimmick’ at all. I know how it works, I know what he has to do to make it work, yet I never once saw him doing it! I think that’s how you ‘see’ music.
Big stupid grin on my face, sitting on the edge of my chair waiting to see Elizabeth's reactions because this version of the song is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! (Would love to hear/see your reaction to 'The Parting Glass' version that he does...)
You're such a delightful and yet analytical professional that shares your passion with us. You're an inspiring person. I can only imagine how lucky your friends and partner who get to spend time with you in person feel. Peter has done a masterful job with Ed Sheeran's song from the Hobbit. I wonder if Ed has watched Peter's rendition? It would be really cool, for future reactions if you could do collaborations where the original artist who sang the song reviewed with you a song like this one done by Peter.
Love Peter Holland, been FollowIng him for years now. Another outstanding aCapella group - Voces8. They have a large body of work. Much is classical but not all. They also sing modern aCapella composers - Forrest and Eric Whitacre ( sleep) my favorites. But why I think they are great is how each of the individual voices perfectly blend yet still distinguishable I think? They are not highly produced. They sing in rooms with great acoustics Thank you Elizabeth.
I've never had any interest in Hobbit-world, books or movies, but this beautiful song, and Peter's mesmerizing voice is changing my mind. This video, along with his hookup with Home Free and 250 patreon fans for I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and Austin Brown's Unchained Melody backed by Steven Martinez on guitar are the most amazing and wondrous songs I've ever heard; they stop me in my tracks in bliss.
Peter is one of my faaaaaaaaaaaavorites, I saw him live in Hawaii in 2015 with Jon Schmidt of the Piano Guys. It was awesome! I know I'm a broken record about Voiceplay, and I'm sure you've gotten a lot of requests for their "Hoist the Colors" but, BUT, go watch VP's "Halo Theme" for some SERIOUS vocal gymnastics....and Geoff's B-zero sub is so strong and clear.... I get goosebumps just thinking about it!
Would love your thoughts on Peter's collab with Avi - I LOVE Peter's music and craft but have a huge soft spot for Avi and this was such a beautiful sound they made together
I feel that this version is better than the way Ed Sheeran wrote it. I might actually watch this tea time for once too. There are SOOO Many songs Peter has covered that I’d like to see analysis of that I can’t even list them all. Also I’m going to add my voice to the choir asking for a reaction to Voiceplay’s ‘Hoist the Colours’ the addition of Cesar to the mix of VP and José is perfect
I was seriously concerned, in complete hyperbole, for the hostess when I saw the transition to the multi tracking, because she was clearly hitting a stimulation high on the intro section. Anyone remember the old movie - When Harry met Sally - the restaurant scene that ends with the older woman telling the waiter: I'll have what she's having. Sorry that just popped into my head knowing the the hostess was getting a double nerdgasm dose - the singer she loves, and the fantasy theme. 😁 Infectious enthusiasm 👍
The first time I ever saw Peter hollens on RUclips was when he did the song Carry on wayward son by Kansas.. it randomly came up on my feed probably because Kansas is my favorite band and that song is one of my favorite songs of all time.. then I went down the hollens rabbit hole to check out the countless amazing songs he does.. and then actually got to see him and his wife live in a Christmas show they were part of in Manhattan New York a few years ago.. all of this being said, you should check out the band Kansas they have two lead vocalists with awesome voices that complement each other perfectly.. carry on wayward son and dust in the wind are their most popular songs.. but Cheyenne anthem or miracles out of nowhere and countless others have great vocals also..👍🎸🥁 and the musicianship is awesome..

I love seeing how excited you get about the little details! I'm glad I'm not the only one. You should check out Chris Weathers' live cover of I Will Always Love You. He's bananas! Oh, and Hold On by Alabama Shakes.
Hi Elizabeth... Great reaction as always. Please check out Diana Ankudinova ' I can help help falling in love with you' you are in for a treat. Looking forward to seeing your analysis and reaction.
I would absolutely love to see you react to babymetal, I think you would really enjoy their genre crossover. My go to performance of theirs for when I want to introduce someone to them is Road of Resistance-Live in Japan. You get to not only see and hear the performance of all three of the original vocalists but also the full original band backing. Along with that the crowd and crowd participation at that performance is unbelievable.
She has done it actually, but the copyright battle was one of the few in which Kirk couldn’t prevail. So it has been published in Patreon only, patrons can see it but nobody else. I am a TCV Patreon evangelist, and encourage you to join and use the discord community which is awesome! 😃
I love your enthusiasm and knowledge....and how much you fangirl over Peter. I've been a fan of his since I saw him collaborate with Lindsey Sterling on a few things. I'd like to make a suggestion or two. Seeing as you really liked Jonathan Young's "Hellfire", I think you should watch his version of "Let It Go", it's very well done. And I'd love to see you react to Paint's "After Ever After", if you haven't done so already.
I can only recommend his collaboration with Malukah "Baba yetu". It's soo beautiful❤ I like Peters version of I see fire better than the original actually. Great reaction as always!
Any of Peter's collaborations with Anthony Vincent (formally Ten Second Songs), would be great to see your reaction to! "Rocketman", "Shape of You", "Friend Like Me".
This reaction makes me really want to see you react to Tomi P's version of either "Hellfire" or "My Mother Told Me". I think you'd get a kick out of both. Peter Hollens got me into listening to a Capella on RUclips and that eventually led me to Tomi P's channel.

Only one thing to say...'Peter Hollens is fire'! 🔥

I really enjoy Jonathan Young's cover of this song, myself... but then again, I love a lot of Jonathan Young's covers.
This was one of my first introductions to what a capella could be.
I am fire
I am death
Chills EVERY time.
Wow this man is awesome. Thanks, I’m going to check him out further
I've been hooked on Peter Hollens ever since I saw his video of Loch Lomond.
Love Peter Holland, been FollowIng him for years now.
Another outstanding aCapella group - Voces8. They have a large body of work. Much is classical but not all. They also sing modern aCapella composers - Forrest and Eric Whitacre ( sleep) my favorites. But why I think they are great is how each of the individual voices perfectly blend yet still distinguishable
I think? They are not highly produced. They sing in rooms with great acoustics
Thank you Elizabeth.
17:19 The Charismatic Voice gets a nice Dopamine hit :) Gotta love music that hits a cord.
Wow such a gorgeous woman you give off such positive vibes and your passion for music intoxicating.
❤❤❤❤ Peter Hollens!
I'm hoping that maybe someday Elizabeth reacts to Colm McGuinness. I absolutely love his singing as well.
Infectious enthusiasm 👍
As a LOTR fan, you should also listen to Peter's cover of The Last Goodbye. He puts so much emotion into his singing.
I'm still waiting for you to do a Bev and Bob song. I'd recommend Down with the Sickness.
When you get the time, do ANY Peter Hollens/Tim Foust song. YOU.WILL.NOT.REGRET.IT
Hi Curtis, Elizabeth reacted to Peter & Tim last year, "Misty Mountains." Here is a link to the video: ruclips.net/video/PXOWH4z7ymw/видео.html And here is a link to Elizabeth's other reaction videos: ruclips.net/user/TheCharismaticVoicevideos Enjoy!
@@kirbys1370 Thanks Kirby!
I love seeing how excited you get about the little details! I'm glad I'm not the only one. You should check out Chris Weathers' live cover of I Will Always Love You. He's bananas! Oh, and Hold On by Alabama Shakes.
Everytime you upload a video and it's not words darker than their wings my life span shortens
that girl from Celtic woman Mairead Carlin does this song too and i absolutely love her voice
Hi Elizabeth... Great reaction as always. Please check out Diana Ankudinova ' I can help help falling in love with you' you are in for a treat. Looking forward to seeing your analysis and reaction.
I still would love to see you react to the prayer sung by Peter and Evynne Hollens, both versions from each their channels would be awesome.
Yes, Yes, YES!!!!! PLEASE!!!😍😍😍😍🤗🙏🙏🙏
I feel like we need to see a vocal collab with these two
You need to react to one of Peter's collabs with Malukah. Seriously, their voices blend SO well.
Did react to a Babymetal song but it got copright strikes. It never cleared.
If you love multi layered a-capella, do a reaction to Jacob Collier "Moon River"... Grammy awarded, well deserved!
It's soo beautiful❤
I like Peters version of I see fire better than the original actually.
Great reaction as always!
Any of Peter's collaborations with Anthony Vincent (formally Ten Second Songs), would be great to see your reaction to! "Rocketman", "Shape of You", "Friend Like Me".
😭😭😭 never mind how powerful Geoff Castellucci’s version is, this is clean.
I wish you could hear the Jonathan Young metal version of this song. Goosbumps.
This reaction makes me really want to see you react to Tomi P's version of either "Hellfire" or "My Mother Told Me". I think you'd get a kick out of both. Peter Hollens got me into listening to a Capella on RUclips and that eventually led me to Tomi P's channel.
Such a beautiful channel
Aww, thank you Tony!
@@TheCharismaticVoice my pleasure Elizabeth !
Celtic Woman does a nice cover of this song also
