How do the bugs respond to smell of the mothballs if you’ve mixed it in with : scented fabric softener, liquid detergent and vinegar?

Aren't mothballs toxic?
Does it contain napthalene which is thought to have carcinogenic elements? Please enlighten. Thanks.
