1/32 U-Boat? Okay I'm interested. Oh, I thought it might be a cut away with interior. Still cool, but a bit let down, mainly because I let my imagination run away with me. I think a full center section cut away would've been amazing! Imagine the possibilities. Interior action, detail galore, lighting and scratch building options. Perhaps not in 1/35 scale that would simply be way too massive, but 1/72 for sure.
Wow!!! Thats incredible Andy !!! Love it!!! I wonder will they do the other sections ? Its a water line series that connects ? That is Amazing Andy !! Incredible !! I cant wait Love the 1/37th scale
Just ordered. As a Submarine veteran I'm very excited to received and build this kit. Initial plan is to do a seascape diorama with the gun crew and Bridge Officers and crew.
It wouldn't surprise me if they released the fore and aft sections as separate kits, or even the full sub at some point. Model companies usually release a less desirable version first, wait for a bunch to sell, then release the version everybody wanted in the first place. That way the same customers end up buying basically the same subject twice, thereby increasing sales.
But Andy, I've already sent my letter to Santa :-) Somebody in the modeling industry is a visionary and hiring History Majors to study the history books and finding new ideas for product They've also improved the molding process exponentially in detail. I've always been an aircraft builder building the aircraft from WW2 and SEA, plus various historical aircraft. HOWEVER, this kit is so unusual in history with details and possibilities, I mean the provenance is out of the park, I'm at the point where " resistance is futile". Thanks for letting us know. Feliz Navidad.
Exciting times, wonder if border or an after market manufacture will release the missing front and back sections as seperate upgrades. Looks pretty well detailed.
If you did a?U Boot at sea you wouldn't be seeing the entire pressure vessel through the dark North Sea or North Atlantic waters anyway, depending on the depth ordered by Kapitan. If you scratch build the tio 1/4 of the pressure hull surrounded by dyed resin that gets darker the deeper it goes. Add some melted glue stick breakers. Most of this is the crew deck grating welded to a framework on top of the pressure hull. The torpedo loading could be done as replenishment at sea but you'd need a support boat.
Waited and just got rewarded! Looking forward to building this one. Aftermarket parts? I'm sure they will be plentiful! Bow and stern to follow? Thanks Andy!!!
There is no story yet off a full 1/35 type C uboat kit for sale. But yes , would be a awsom kit to build - next up Battleship Tirpits scale 1/50 like the one on display at Marine Ehrendenkmal Laboe ! ,!
I'll definitely be getting one of these and the crew but it is a bit disappointing that they don't provide anything that suggests the pressure hull which will be very visible through the deck and flooding holes. Maybe some aftermarket will step up or scratch building will be in order. It's nice but could have been so much more.
I am very much looking forward to this ( please Santa!?). A little disappointing that the command figures are the same in both figure packs as they don’t really fit with dockside theme.
Hum not sure what it says about me that I knew the boats by the decals. The Sword and shield is U-81 which holds the record for the most ships sunk in a day, the Devil is 552 which sunk the USS Ruben James on Halloween 1941 before the US even entered the war. And the swordfish is U-96 the titular "Das Boot".
Now they need a crew firing the 37mm... In the movie it was a 20mm but still... "Secondary! Fire at ze Bridge!" Would make an awesome Enemy Below Diorama!
A very nice model but as everyone here is wondering how long it would be the TYPE VII C U-BOAT in scale 1/35 should measure around 1.920 mt or 2.551 inches in total. Not bad but or you live in a mansion or you empty your garage or your wife will divorce you, plenty of options here.....
As nice as it may sound initially, the torpedo loading scene does require more hardware which isn‘t included in the kit. There needs to be a winching mechanism being attached to the coning tower, for lowering the torpedo inch by inch into the interior. This heavy thing does not just slide down the chute like a sack of potatoes! Without the winch, the scene makes only half sense. Some serious research and scratchbuilding required to do the winch.
I just received mine. I am a bit disappointed. The main freeing ports are not open, the bracket to secure the flak gun is moulded into the deck . It should have been a separate piece . If you wish to display it loading the torpedo the bits should be up .they do not give you this option . i do realise they have been cut in half but they should be raised in port. Cheers
It looks to be a nice kit. But the trouble is that because it is a part hull. It would be really awkward to do a realistic diorama. Unless you just do one that is as long as the hull. A full at sea diorama with the guys firing the gun would be hard to do, with no front and rear of the submarine.
Actually , Andy , i'm wondering how long it will be , before someone combines it with a full working rc boat . There are a fair number over this side of the pond already , with at least one being of scale length . From what i've seen it would be fairly easy to fit , and would give a pretty good result .
Another attention grabbing kit (s). The conning tower figures with the torpedo loading crew doesn't make sense if incorporating into a dockside scenario but, very nice indeed
The ship is under-crewed. The conning tower would normally have four observers (one per quadrant)and a watch officer...plus the captain during surface actions, as depicted on the box. The gun crew should also include 1-2 more shell handlers. Unfortunately molding the add-on figures in resin instead of plastic makes converting a second set into the number and poses needed to accurately crew an attack a more difficult, and expensive, task.
1/35? Wow. That makes some awesome dioramas possible.
I’d love the full length version. I’d find room.
The Enemy Below where the American Destroyer rams the U Boat would be a good diorama

@@paulgolding1009 or das boot with the burning tanker made with plasticard etc.
The detail is amazing!!!! 😍 Your right, the possibilities with this kit is endless. 👍
Here comes the after market people! Oh all the possibilities!

Love the 1/37th scale
obviously an opening here for a 3D printed or resin cast fore and aft sections........
Just ordered. As a Submarine veteran I'm very excited to received and build this kit. Initial plan is to do a seascape diorama with the gun crew and Bridge Officers and crew.
I really love the idea of this kit! I sure hope they're working on more of the same.
Yes, but a full 1/35 scale sub would be awesome.
Yes, my Italeri Schnellboot needs company.

"Assault on a Queen" is a good movie about some people finding one.
I agree, would be cool Mark Holm.
It would be so big though 😂😂
This looks good, lots of scope for different dioramas. The sculpting of those figures is exquisite!
Very cool kit. Those figures look like they can be used on a 1/35 Schnellboot too.
Can't see this without hearing the Das Boot theme in my head
Just got this kit.very pleased with it just waiting for the deck crew now
have ordered this kit with the gun crew, can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you Andy for the great review.
You know someone is gonna make some aftermarket kit to build this whole sub out. Gotta happen.
I start the 1/16 Sherman over Christmas break. My son is super excited to get started on it
I have always been frustrated with land / sky / ocean discrepancies in scale. 1/35 would give me a wonderful congruency of perspectives!

That is awesome. The moulding is fantastic 👌
Nice! What a time to be a modeler. They need to make the rest of the sub.
Andy, I'm pretty sure that bent tube is the air intake for the diesel engines. What a cool kit!
I paused the video, went on line and just ordered mine!

I'm still trying to find time to get around to the 1/72 U9 I ordered from you. I also have the Revell U67/U154 kit yet to build (also in 1/72).
Absolutely beautiful…. Neeeeeeed one now! 😆
Must be Christmas!
Sub looks great and the figures will make this a fun project
Waited and just got rewarded! Looking forward to building this one. Aftermarket parts? I'm sure they will be plentiful! Bow and stern to follow? Thanks Andy!!!
Alarm!!!!!!! Playing the theme from Das Boot ....
It would be cool if they later added the bow and stern for the full lenth be it above the water line.
Accurate armour used to do it in resin don't knw if it's still made also a dockside for it not cheap though
I'm more excited to know when the WNW haul is going to be available outside NA
I suspect aftermarket manufacturers will supply the rest......eventually.
Definitely wanna try and make a water Diorama
Nice kit👍👍
I'll wait for them to release the full u-boat with cutaway view interior and lighting kit.

Border should at least have made this with a bow so as you could make a diorama of the Uboat surfacing.
I’m ordering asap 👍😁

Reminds me of "The Enemy Below"... "Fire Kuntz!!! Fire!!!"

It's missing the deck gun barrrel. Mine is missing the deck gun barrel. Where is it? I didnt see it in your video either.
i want this w an interior

There are resin kits of entire setup, Im sure we will get them in proper scale soon :)
I’d like the whole sub!
Should come WITH the crew by default.

Maybe a modelling company could do a centre section of some aircraft in say 1/12 scale - ?
there is an inner pressure hull should be under the decking. its absense should be pretty apparent
Hey Andy, when are you shipping more 1/16th Sherman Tanks to Australia? Everywhere is sold out, I could more easily buy a kidney than your tank :)
Full length model at 1/35 would be 75.2” long. Beam is 6.97”.
I'd buy it in a MINUTE!!
My lil brothers GI Joe aircraft carrier was bigger than that. I had to assemble and apply all the decals.
It looks to be a nice kit. But the trouble is that because it is a part hull. It would be really awkward to do a realistic diorama. Unless you just do one that is as long as the hull. A full at sea diorama with the guys firing the gun would be hard to do, with no front and rear of the submarine.

Hello, can you give me the length
please?
I want to steal some parts for my Bronco coastal submarine
What type of glue do you use for resin figures.
Just normal superglue.
The Type VIIC flak gun is a 20mm C/30, not a 37mm.
Another attention grabbing kit (s). The conning tower figures with the torpedo loading crew doesn't make sense if incorporating into a dockside scenario but, very nice indeed
why every time a 7c U-boat, why not type23 or 21, or some of the Walter Submarines ,
BORDER MODELS SHOULD Release a Bow and Stern Add On Set!!!! So disappointing!
That wasn't a life preserver, it was a ''Head Seat'' nautical lingo for the Toilet ergo toilet seat, ha ha.
i want a Bismarck/Tirpitz/Yamato in 1:35 scale
