DreamWorks is Making Fun of Disney in Their New Movie

- Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is the newest movie from DreamWorks Animation. The major antagonist in Ruby Gillman is a mermaid named Chelsea, who shares a very similar appearance to Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid. Not only that, but Ruby Gillman is hitting theaters around the exact same time as The Little Mermaid's live-action remake! It's a classic DreamWorks vs. Disney battle.

Honestly, DreamWorks deserves all the love they're getting. Disney nowadays doesn't have unique ideas and always defaults to live-action versions of animated movies.

And don't forget that nowadays their animated films are always about generational trauma with no real villains.

It was.

Kerbiverse is doing the exact same thing as DreamWorks
Yeah dude dreamworks was specifically created out of revenge and hate towards Disney
I strongly agree with DreamWorks on this one about mermaids. According to mythology, it claims that mermaids tricked men and killed them, so they were originally evil. But of course, Disney HAD to make mermaids nice.
Isn’t that sirens?

So far i believe POTC also showed there version that mermaid are just evil and trick mans to come closer to drown them. As a over water they look beautiful but moment I I water they showed how scary monster they where
@@Yami-mugoni613 sirens are mermaids in Greek mythology, but mermaids were in earlier myths and known for luring men in most of them.
Yeah, I do like that they went back to how mermaids used to be described as. Heck if I do my own version of The Little Mermaid one day, I may incorporate this fact into the story.

That fact that DreamWorks was able to come up with something different rather than reusing the same property is kind of sad for Disney.

Personally, I like how they switched the dynamic of mermaids being dangerous instead of beautiful princesses and krakens being the good guys instead of the monsters.

I do not like Boss Baby at all, but I read a comment that raised a good point. If Dreamworks is branching out and making movies like Boss Baby (which made about 530 million dollars) and Trolls that many younger children enjoy, then we'll get to see more masterpieces like the second Puss n Boots movie. The old Disney Dreamworks rivalry is back. I’m in here for it
Back? It never left
No it isn't, this looks ass
Honestly, I'm glad DreamWorks is becoming more original and creative with their movies. Disney hasn't been original at all, they focus more on live action remakes and Marvel and Star Wars.
All we're asking from Disney is something good and original.
They have made original movies lately. Onward, Soul, Luca, Turning Red, the upcoming Elemental, Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Strange World, the upcoming Wish, Crater, and some others if I missed anything are all original Disney movies NOT based on any existing material nor IP. Disney does more than Marvel and Star Wars you know. Also, DreamWorks is making Trolls 3. Doesn't sound like a great idea now, doesn't it?
@The Mascot Wizard Oh yea, I know. But we have a bit of them though and Disney is shoving more live action remakes down our throats
@@themascotwizard5267 Well, Disney will do more sequels, another Toy Story, Frozen, so Dreamworks is not unique. Since when Star Wars and Marvel are stunning? many barely remember them, the only good thing they released right now is Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3. Wish hasn't even come out yet, Raya was a failure and few people liked it, I don't know how Strange World did in the United States but at least I know that in my country and others it didn't seem like a big deal. Soul, Luca and Encanto had charm, there I do not deny it. The point of Dreamworks is that it tries to change but it's not the only one to make sequels either, this type of parodies towards Disney is just that but many prefer to say rip-off when it is something different. Plus Disney likes to focus more on movie sequels and live actions that they don't really need to do when you already have something completely done.
@@crystalbae0909 Guardians 3 was great, agreed.
