    why did you blatantly show the puppeteer in front of the entire audience though

      It's a style of puppetry called Bunraku (Julie Taymore employed the same technique when she directed the stage adaptation of "The Lion King"). A Bunraku puppeteer is capable of more mobility of movement, and it allows for a more intricate creature design.
