Please do a video on Kaostanza, rank 1 Talon EUW. His play is completely opposite to Agurin and focuses on playing with tempo, rushing objectives, and invading enemy camps. He almost never full clears and usually only clears his own camps when there is nothing else to do. He uses Talon's mobility and clear speed to gain an exp, gold, and tempo lead to punish the enemy jungler. It's a very aggressive style that focuses on playing off powerspikes and invading/denying camps rather than full clearing. He consistently hits 1k+ LP for the past 3+ years. Talon could be considered a "half clear" jungler as he usually clears 1 quadrant before making a play rather than full clearing. He is currently playing on the account Finality#K405 on EUW.
Another cool thing to notice: he always buys damage components first to speed up his clear, but it requires not making mistakes in early fight and knowing your limits, which he does really well
fullclearing isnt the baseline of agurin, he plays aggressively if it makes sense. He has a list of 5-6 things that he constantly looks for that are higher prio than full clearing if they have a high success champs. Its just that higher elo players know how to avoid ganks so most ganks have a very low success rate of him getting anything for his time. So only if all of those 5-6 things are at a low success chance, agurin will keep full clearing to maximize his income.
not true, full clear is 9/10 baseline on his j4 and kha. but its true that full clear is better in high elo since people have good tracking. spam ganks works better in low elo.
I feel like the example used at 3:38 is not a great one of what happens when he ganks. It looks like a really piss poor gank at Agurin's fault just from what the video shows. Blue wave is less than 10 seconds from crashing into turret, Gnar just started his back, and J4 presumably isn't spotted until he leaves brush. He chooses to solo dive turret while aggro'd instead of waiting 5 seconds for the wave to crash and Jax to be there to help. He also has flash to get out of turret range but chooses not to use it. I think red team punishing him for this is less based on him ganking and more based on the fact that he played that poorly.
The example still showcases the logic: if J4 waited more than a couple seconds for the wave to crash, the death timer would be the same as walking out of turret and completing base (8s+). In this instance, if J4 waited 1 extra second in the best case he would spend 9s to get back to base after ganking. Compare to 12s death timer which also gives you homeguard movespeed will lead to J4 reaching krugs after Zyra takes them either way. This highlights the importance of reaching your camps on spawn ESPECIALLY if you show on the map, which facilitates the enemy jungler to take your camp unimpeded. In another sense, this example also showcases the philosophy of playing for high percentage consistency because as you can see even the rank 1+2 jungler is making some obvious mistakes both macro and micro wise while executing the dive. From that, you may therefore argue that ganking is inferior to prioritising fullclearing on repeat due to the variable nature of executing said ganks.
@@oceelysium OR given the scenario in which he executes the dive properly, note that Zyra is bot side while he is top. Given this information, he knows that Zyra’s krugs will spawn at approximately the same time as his if they both started on their reds. In this case, he executes the dive a couple seconds later, takes down the Gnar, takes maybe a couple of turret shots, then takes Zyra’s krugs while trading his own. In this case, he gets a takedown, takes the camp, and backs in time for his raptors to spawn. This is almost objectively a better scenario than dying, giving the gnar a near-even gold trade, losing his Krugs anyways, and being threatened by the Leona and Zyra invading his jungle with weak bot side prio. My point is, if you decide to make the dive in this scenario, you need to do so properly with no room for giving the enemy something to trade. Calling it worth based on the death timer while almost griefing your top lane is just poor play.
@@oceelysium It's 'consistently' and "prioritiZing'. Sorry someone had to let you know.. we can tell you are just trying to sound smart😭 Unfortunately you have read this situation completely wrong. That gank was a sure kill and a pure mechanical mistake. And yes, a kill for the team (esp himself) > krugs. Getting the kill ups his tempo quite a bit, I believe he can buy a full cullfield instead of a pickaxe? + exp gains. Either way, the play was made by Agurin himself ffs... The reason this looks REALLY bad is the fact that he made a second 'mistake' in a row: assuming zyra and leona had left his jungle whereas they were waiting for him in red buff's bush. This was more of a good read by the enemy jg+sup, not necessarily a macro fuck-up by Agurin. In sum, it was a mechaincal error -> good enemy play. Has nothing to do with the 'ALWAYS full clear NO ganks' stragety and is indeed a bad example. It's straight up misinformation LOL Dobby's definition of Agurin's gameplay isn't precise.
@@kc3reo thanks, my mistake. i gotta check myself from now on To type an entire paragraph with so much fluff, to say 'zyra always gets to krugs first if he ganks'... some smartass behavior. ofc he's british LOL (jokes)
I was waiting for this video, nice Dobby! Any thoughts about not getting sweeper and sticking with ward? He almost never gets sweeper on jarvan, he almost never does on any champ besides on elise.
Hi he can do much more with a well placed ward than with a removed ward. Hope that makes sense? Also he buys pinkwards and placed them in important brushes
This video sums up this season's experience. Farming xp is so crucial. Ganking lane loses you farming xp. You need to path bot or else game is lost You need to full clear and take voidgrubs for level 6 spike it just feels very stale. Not what meta used to be. Bring back early rift herald. I think riot pushing for AP mage jg and making the clear speed 3:30 was bad for game.
This works in higher rank because people play it safe and ganking usually results in nothing gained. In low rank however its a fiesta and ganking definitely works better than farming.
Isn't it even more important to farm in low elo? When your teammates are unreliable, you full clear and gank when available to ensure you can win fights
@@claimant2912 lets say you have enemy top darius and your top is panth. You assume panth would play it safe. You full clear and the enemy diana does 3 camps and ganks top. You proceed to clear out her jg. Panth goes back to lane and diana, having nothing to do, ganks again and he dies again. At this point panth is level 3/4 and darius is already level 6. Does your pantheon stay under tower? hell no buddy hes going to fight while spamming "jg diff" You sadly have to give up your top jg now because diana is doing it knowing darius can kill you if you come to contest. You assumed you can dive bot lane or get both dragons however their bot lane is playing safe and the enemy fizz is coming to fight you while you solo drag and your mid is pushed to their tower. Your full clear + clearing enemy bot jg put you at level 5 while diana was at level 3 however what can you do while your top is also level 3 and enemy darius is roaming freely now? this is the scenario that happens almost every game in low rank bro. It doesnt have to be top, any champion with an engage skill will engage regardless of where enemy jg is.
Karthus clears on CD and basically never leaves his jng. Very hard to track, thus very hard to take action against him. Basically karthus loves to play with exhaust, reducing greatly MS of given enemy, and he can land a tons of single-target-Q thus doing ENORMOUS damage. And how Karthus ganks?... R. on top of that, in teamfights karthus has his passive that can and probably will deal great damage. btw karthus scales better than j4.
@@iamlostintime3343 If Karthus predictably clears on CD, it's trivial to track. If you're a good jungler, you know how long it takes for anything to respawn, it takes one ward (somewhere in general area of chickens usually at level 1) to find out if Karthus started top or bot side lol. By the way, jungler doesn't have to be the one to do it, it's a good ward for midlaner... If your team doesn't ward correctly, then you aren't in rank where it would matter anyway.
Call me crazy but after patch 14.22 I swear they nerfed J4, Q pen went from 29 to 26 and ult ratio went from 195 to 180. Nothing mentioned in the patch notes.
yes almost all of them. He's not ganking to maximise his income BECAUSE gank wont work because its top elo and people know how to prevent gank. If your not top elo, keep spamming ganks, it's overall better
The fact that the extra smart good players even accounts for level advantage over item advantage in their gameplay is mindblowing for me. I surely will never get good enough to reach that level where I can and want to account for that. On the other side of the spectrum, the streamers I watch play extremely badly. No strategy, no cautiousness just brain empty with extra misplays here and there. Comparing the two is like sky and earth. Hopefully the streamers that I watch could use their heads more in games but seems pretty hopeless

Ganking was always low IQ strategy. "Bro pls gank I can't play the game unless it's 2v1 reeee" players deserve a permaban. The only reason I'd gank a lane in ranked is if I'm Duo with someone who is factually better player than me.
It always felt wrong to gank your laners just because they want you to or need help. Turns out most of the new junglers are just right about that instinct.
@@hansomekim1219 i only do this in low elo whenever i have a teammate darius, or any strong assassin. if you give them 2/0 lead it doesn't matter if u lose camps u just win the game. i see it working in high elo too sometimes. but assuming it's a skill matchup, my first comment stands
3:39 not to be a dick but that's entirely agurin misplay on the gank ( tooks 2 tower shot and miss the combo) and he decided to face check the camp to reset the timer!? (where zyra had show presence of) tbh, this video isn't that "warp the korean jungle meta", it's about he being a good j4 with fund a mento
Facechecking is safe as jarvan, the problem is he did it using his escape instead of spending 3 seconds walking. He also had flash up so it is whatever, but wouldn't have needed it if he kept his dash.
that flash gived him 450gold and ton of exp. they lvl 5 and around 30/40cs so it's probably min 5 or 6. Not flashing would be a huge waste of time and flashing in and steal a kill would give him the opportunity to create a lead. But yes, didnt needed darius would probably got both kills anyways.
I think Jarvan has great scaling. Once he gets his items, he can lead team fights with amazing crowd control. If you get ahead in levels, you can even take on other junglers
@@LoLDobby that's good snowballing then, in terms of scaling karthus is infinitely better, but I agree J4 is insane in soloq due to how easy it is to play him plus the state of the items he builds, in particular frozen heart and spirit visage are great items, and eclipse is amazing with his kit, giving him all the damage he needs
No quite. Is not bad but is not great either. A lot of the "good scaling" he has is from the items, which have %. So Eclipse for example does %max hp damage, Sunderer heals you for % missing HP, and the resistances + the multi-dashes he has allows to stall for Eclipse+Sunderer's CD. His scaling comes from being able to be a big pest during TF with tankiness, mobility and ok dmg.
@@MrJuliostito not only soloq. Jarvan 4 was also always picked in pro scene on regular basis. This isn't the first time people have covered Agurin. The guy is a macro beast. Back when the meta was to hyper clear with ghost perma ganking (think hercarim), Agurin was still playing this slow style steady gold/exp. The guy proves he is consistent and gets high rank regardless of inters. So, you complaining about factors that happen to everyone really doesn't make a difference. It just shows that you want to blame other people instead of improving your own gameplay. It's not rocket science, but the video is answering a question to something that's always on the mind of jungle players: deciding when and where to gank Agurin is choosing a guaranteed-steady-gold income and exp vs. the gamble of a gank that can always go wrong; and make your team even more tilted than they need to be. Agurin is showing that steady pace gives him an edge over opponent in the long run since he is spiking first, in levels and items and dominating the game afterwards. A masterclass at jg really.
He is playing in high elo where people have a brain. You wouldn't survive a second in that game, stupid bronzie trash. Your elo is so bad you can farm for 20mins then 1v5 and get a penta because you have like 3 more items than your enemies despite them having 15 kills.
@@bezly8867 yeah, but so did basically every other item in the game, Eclipse and Sundered overall got nerfed less compared to other options, and tank items are overall stronger, esp with damage getting nerfed across the board.
yes he's full clearing to maximise his income BECAUSE ganks wont work BECAUSE it's top elo. On low elo spamming ganks is still the best way to win. people dont take care of positioning and jungler tracking AND people are so easy to make mental boom. You litterally gank 3,4 time the same guy over 10min, 9/10 he will go int/afk/afk farm and give the game
@@kurioman In low elo it's much easier to farm. High farm = early first item powerspike, just focus down most fed enemy (hint: it's the guy with most complete items that increase their damage, not kills, and not gold) and do the objective (if they even show up to dragon in low elo LOL). Bronzetards chase kills while letting enemy minions pound on towers on 2, sometimes 3 whole lanes lmao. The more your teammate dies, the more confident enemy is and the less gold your team is worth, just ignore them, because farming 2-3 items is done faster than your teammate can int 10 kills by himself and 10 kills aren't worth shit on same champion. Enemy will have high shutdown + still less items than you, use your brain. If your team ints, it's literally good for you in low elo. >inb4 bronzetard explains how 1000g paycheck is bad for him when that's like a half of item while you're already 1+ item ahead because you farmed unlike bronzetards who wouldn't know how to rightclick a minion even if game reminded them every 0.5s In low elo when I was just learning how to actually play this game, I even had instances of enemy jungler + mid invading me but losing a 1v2 because I was just farming while they were busy jerking off or whatever it is they do that caused then to give up a double kill to a PvE enjoyer.
But... but... my main character syndrome bot laners want me to turret dive a leona draven, at lvl 2 and if I dont they will spam ping me and blame the game on me ;;;;((((
This is essentially every high IQ jungler, so many smurfs jungle because it's literally as easy as simply farming, and jungler has free farm because the only way to get fucked by your "laner" is if they invade you and somehow don't get punished for it.
@@templeofdelusion I understand, yet I dont think this playstyle would be the best in low elo (no hate) from my point of view in low elo the best would be to permagank perma invade enemy jungler XD, and farm kills. Atleast for 5-10 mins straight then just keep farming your own jungle, and playing normally :p
But the 3:36 gank was horrible. I’ve never seen a J4 ignore the 2 wave crash and just eat 2 extra tower shots for free. What you’ve proven is that Agurin is terrible at ganks and meta shifted away from aggro
Even if the gank was successful and he didn’t die he would still lose krugs guaranteed and it would still end up snowballing into zyra hitting 6 before he does
if he actually didnt try to auto him he was out, but i dont know why th efuck would he try to auto the gnar if he already missed the EQ. Hes rank 1 and 2 so i shouldnt talk tho
The top gank was totally his brain rot mentality, why would you not wait 1 second for the creeps to get hit first, literally died for no reason and then bot countered his jg and expected red cuz 100% know how he plays
What are you talking about bronze? If he died or not it doesn't matter, he would have lost krugs and raptors anyway. Actually dying there was the fast and yet he still couldn't get there in time. He had to recall immediately after clearing, because he wouldn't have missed the camp exp and he would have got lv6 first. Yes he could have played the dive better but the dive wasn't even a good play
@sandromaspindzelashvili5767 my guy this ain't micro management or even close to the actual brain any other moba needs, it's simple, he would've gotten a kill, gold hence an item, not given the top a kill, advantage for top and kept stealing the other jg if he wanted, he could've Q into bush instead of in the open, whatever exp he lost he would've gotten in gold advantage and that gank, the game isn't purely levels, it's gold and objectives, it's just easier to get kills at level 6, he could've gotten a gank and a good 2 kills on bot either way if he actually didn't just rush for red in the open, former gm 2013 and actual ancient on dota, clown, the mental skill you need to play this is simplified into gold and kills which lead to objectives, whoever gets to snowball first usually wins, this includes being ahead of level, farm etc or start coordinating better than the other team for kill picks that or you have one of the kill a creep and get fed champions, legit the mental capacity I see into these "pro plays" is literally something you see in archon on Dota, it's just a glorified f2p e girl game with absolutely 0 skill, to summarize, watch sseth league video, 0:59 specifically, when you try dota and realize your tiny brain can't keep up with denying, pulling camps, micro managing your own creeps and courier while also considering all the facets, item actives and the fact that skills can actually affect your allies you'll realize this is brain rot, you should try playing invoker, very friendly first time hero, smiley face.
pure bs, I cant even full clear without ally dying twice, this top elo people are lucky af, I enjoy how streamers of high elo lose their shit while passing plat to master elo
I understand your point about deaths in games, but it's not luck that drives the success for higher ranks. The players have a better grasp on the game so there are less mistakes made for deaths.
I will argue something here This strategy about ganks lose i feel like ganks will win more games then power farming in anything lower then diamond Reason being team mates tilt if you afk farm Enemy jungler gets a lead through lanes miss players Players are overly more aggresive as the elos go lower, they dont respect win cons, nor power spikes They flame and give up because their already low elo so they dont really care too much This is based on the average ranks in lower elos
Yeah but that's not the point of his strategy. He's using the fact the enemy jungler is falling behind and punishing it, now they can't really go for plays on your timers, you can make a play on your terms without sacrificing farm. Let's say bot dies to a gank, both of them, but you can gank them on level 6 from fullclearing while vi is 5. You can force this play bot, and if vi contests it then you win the play due to level lead. Ganking is self sacrifice unless there is nothing else on the map to do or a dive is possible without dying, if you gank once off timer and the enemy jungler is competent, then you can't really do anything without that lane helping you. You will lose every duel on a level deficit, you will lose objectives because slower smite upgrade, you will get outganked because they unlock more ganking tools and can win 3v3 or 2v2 fights with level lead. If you get flamed then it's very likely you haven't used your lead to actually fix your lanes. Going even or slightly ahead in farm while your laner rots is not gonna win you the game, using your lead aggressively when the enemy makes a sacrificial play is.
I play similarly (obviously not close to as good) to him but people just tilt so quickly and beg me for a gank and end up blaming me for their loss even if I have 6 grubs and soul or whatever and huge advantage on enemy jungler. And I just end up with one or two useless raging inters. Also supports and mids 90% of the time don’t help with vision or fights whatsoever. Edit: I’m diamond master elo not bronze
the difference is that agurin looks for 5-6 things before full clearing, you dont. Agurin full clears bcs he plays in extremely high elo where the enemys make only very tiny mistakes so theres not a lot to capitalize from. Full clearing isnt his priority but its 100% consistent and a gank would need a 75%-80% success chance for agurin to take it. If Agurin was in ur elo he wouldnt be full clearing bcs there are so many opportunitys to get ahead from
@@rafunzel3980 definetly a good point in the mistakes thing everybody makes a lot more mistakes. But I’m in diamond master not like silver lol so this isn’t quite accurate
It's mostly just an xp issue the jungler with more assists/kills will have more gold and items but still will be 1 level lower than the person who full cleared. I think they could just have ganking give more xp and that's that. There's a nice risk/reward to it. Also I don't think full clearing is braindead, you still need to gank when the opportunity is there or when your camps are down.
"no brain" farming? lmao try to spam ganks in challenger and see why its best there. the reason the farming works so well in high elo is because people know how to track the jungler so getting a gank to work is much harder.
Nothing makes him special, he just plays the most lmfao, getting rank 1 isn't that big of a deal, I say that as a multi seasonal rank 1 Akali/Irelia player... The biggest issue with getting high rank is waiting... Do you know how much time people spend waiting for a f*cking game? Like to get rank 1 with Akali in season 6 I played through 2 Assassins Creed Games on the side, watched idfk how many hours of Yt clips and more... I ordered lots of food on the side and honestly idfk... Its just a thing of playing more... Thats why TFBlade made rank 1 in several regions so easily... It doesn't really matter how well you play as long as you rely on your champion pool... I mean Im pretty sure over 80% of top 500s play games next to League while in queue because it takes forever... the longest queue I had was 2 hours 43 minutes with I think it was 8 or 9 dodges... If you want rank 1, just be persistent... Like literally...

Sorry someone had to let you know.. we can tell you are just trying to sound smart😭
Unfortunately you have read this situation completely wrong.
Prioritise is correct in british english, prioritize is just preferred in american english. They're both valid.

You need to path bot or else game is lost

I think riot pushing for AP mage jg and making the clear speed 3:30 was bad for game.
Hi mechanics are actually also really good. But that probably goes for all challenger players. His Elise is also crazy good.

Damn never knew Jungle was this cutthroat, makes me want to be a jungler lol. Thanks for sharing Dobby.
Super interesting! I have a question: Why is Khartus a counter to J4?
Karthus clears on CD and basically never leaves his jng. Very hard to track, thus very hard to take action against him. Basically karthus loves to play with exhaust, reducing greatly MS of given enemy, and he can land a tons of single-target-Q thus doing ENORMOUS damage. And how Karthus ganks?... R.
on top of that, in teamfights karthus has his passive that can and probably will deal great damage.
btw karthus scales better than j4.
Ok, thank you!
If your team doesn't ward correctly, then you aren't in rank where it would matter anyway.
farming is important, who would have thought, now i have an excuse for when my team spams me the help ping

yes almost all of them. He's not ganking to maximise his income BECAUSE gank wont work because its top elo and people know how to prevent gank.
If your not top elo, keep spamming ganks, it's overall better
Yay the Agruin Video i wished for!

@@LoLDobby oooh dobby answers. I love your videos ❤️
It always felt wrong to gank your laners just because they want you to or need help. Turns out most of the new junglers are just right about that instinct.
It depends. Sometimes its worth it to fall behind in jungle to snowball a lane out of control

J4 has good scaling?
It's not rocket science, but the video is answering a question to something that's always on the mind of jungle players: deciding when and where to gank
Agurin is choosing a guaranteed-steady-gold income and exp vs. the gamble of a gank that can always go wrong; and make your team even more tilted than they need to be.

In low elo when I was just learning how to actually play this game, I even had instances of enemy jungler + mid invading me but losing a 1v2 because I was just farming while they were busy jerking off or whatever it is they do that caused then to give up a double kill to a PvE enjoyer.

Completely missed the point of the example, whoooosh
The top gank was totally his brain rot mentality, why would you not wait 1 second for the creeps to get hit first, literally died for no reason and then bot countered his jg and expected red cuz 100% know how he plays
What are you talking about bronze? If he died or not it doesn't matter, he would have lost krugs and raptors anyway. Actually dying there was the fast and yet he still couldn't get there in time. He had to recall immediately after clearing, because he wouldn't have missed the camp exp and he would have got lv6 first. Yes he could have played the dive better but the dive wasn't even a good play
Early on dying is faster than recalling
@@sandromaspindzelashvili5767 maybe take a look at the respawn timer downleft before you say this nonsense
The players have a better grasp on the game so there are less mistakes made for deaths.
by the time i finish 1 full clear bot is 0-4 somehow lol
You walking into a lane with your teammate dead would do more damage (literally) than if you just farmed.
I will argue something here
This strategy about ganks lose i feel like ganks will win more games then power farming in anything lower then diamond
Reason being team mates tilt if you afk farm
Enemy jungler gets a lead through lanes miss players
Players are overly more aggresive as the elos go lower, they dont respect win cons, nor power spikes
They flame and give up because their already low elo so they dont really care too much
This is based on the average ranks in lower elos
Die Deutschen wieder.
Well you need to play better
Agreed lol.
the difference is that agurin looks for 5-6 things before full clearing, you dont.
Agurin full clears bcs he plays in extremely high elo where the enemys make only very tiny mistakes so theres not a lot to capitalize from. Full clearing isnt his priority but its 100% consistent and a gank would need a 75%-80% success chance for agurin to take it.
If Agurin was in ur elo he wouldnt be full clearing bcs there are so many opportunitys to get ahead from
No you don't. You think you do but you are so far from what he is doing it's not even funny.
@@rafunzel3980 definetly a good point in the mistakes thing everybody makes a lot more mistakes. But I’m in diamond master not like silver lol so this isn’t quite accurate
I hate the fact no brain farming is better than succesfully ganking a lane in current meta
"no brain" farming? lmao try to spam ganks in challenger and see why its best there. the reason the farming works so well in high elo is because people know how to track the jungler so getting a gank to work is much harder.
there is no brain farming, riot just giga nerfed jg at that point that there is no point of ganking unless enemy team are trolling XD
