She was a victim of the dreaded Retconasaurus Rex
No they didn't do justice for Samatha. I wanted them reunited.

Yeah they always do that with any hyped show. It's been so common place that I recognize it in a show I just stop watching
I agree. Her story just ended so weekly. So she just disappeared into this place that children go to when something really bad. It’s gonna happen to them because it was so bad that the universe couldn’t allow it to happen or for her to die like that? What the hell is that nonsense? That’s stupid. I’m sorry that abducted by aliens or being separated from everyone and then kept in a bunker or something would have been much more interesting and also just a much more satisfactory ending. The same episode never explains how the parents of these children would always write the so-called kidnapping notes and always seem to no details about the kidnapper to be. It was just a shitty story
They did for a little while before she left with the other Star children.
This was one of the things that really made Mulder a good character.
He was a kid when it happened and it affected his whole life. What started as aliens became more about a kid misunderstanding the world.
I feel like everything lasted too long and the story went sideways but it was great in the early years.
i think after like seaon 3 or 4 they did not know were to go wtih it
but a reboot 5 sesaon that are all plan out could be really cool
This feels like "um yeah we better wrap up the Mulder sibling arc. Just some random she is a star person thing. Not like anyone really cares".Except people did and now I know and it feels sloppy and half arsed.
It felt like they did a lot of that in the later seasons. Samantha, the syndicate, the smoking man, The Lone Gunmen…their endings all seemed rushed.
It deals like a lazy ending
@@07foxmulderThey did the Lone Gunmen dirty 😭
Agree 100%. Really dumb lazy ending for her character arc
I watched the X-Files every week as a child. Maybe I was too young, maybe I sometimes had nightmares after watching it, but I loved the show. It is still very dear to me.
Same here. I enjoyed every episode when I was a kid.
I'm the same, the face on mars episode still gives me chills in 2024.
I loved the X-Files when it aired and still consider it a Top 10, even Top 5 series. But as it went along it just got more and more confusing. Aliens doing this and that for unexplained reasons, the secret conspiracy group, the machinations of the Cigarette Man, the metal men in the last couple of seasons, etc. I think even with a re-watch I couldn't explain half of what is going on and why. In the end I chalked it up to the writers (principally Chris Carter) having no larger plan and just tossing out random stories. I think if the show was produced today there would be more coherence into the grand arc of the show, the aliens and their actions and so on.
What happened: The audience figured out what happened, the writers panicked and said, "Nuh uh, can't be that!" and wrote another layer, the audience figured that layer out, do this a few times and eventually the writers say, "Okay, fine, let's just stop this," and stopped writing layers by the time the whole thing got too unwieldy.
Nah, directions change as the show gets greenlit for another season, these tv shows go on until the money runs thin, writers have to come up with a new direction when they realize they can keep it going.
Same plight as every ongoing series - Lost, Walking Dead, all got messy and lost their original directions as time and the money continued to flow, audiences figuring things out is a far lower concern.
Justice for Samantha!
That ending was frigging unsatisfying that JJ Abrams could have written it.
Yep. He does that
@@willkoestner4159 when though?
@@Erlisch1337 I guess you didnt watch Lost
@@cnsmooth seen the whole series twice. One of the best endings out there
@@cnsmooth also Abrams had nothing to do with it. He only touched a few episodes in the first season. So your attempt at a "point" there does not work at all....
The X-Files had an ending as bad as Game of Thrones, but by the time it finished, nobody cared. They should have made a movie about the alien invasion and end the series on a high note instead of changing the mythology in the revival. Closure was a preview of the ending, both anticlimatic and clumsy...
Saw this ep when it aired and was confused AF as to what actually happened.
Same here bro. I had to wiki it and it still is kinda vague…
Almost forgot, Cassandra told Mulder his sister was out there with the aliens.
Samantha was the most disappointing story line of all time maybe. After seasons and seasons of build up, they laid a fat turd. This is literally the episode i quit watching X Files.
I'd say that the biggest problem with Samantha's story (and X-Files myth arc in general) was they never actually had a plan. They made it all up as they went and proceeded to repeatedly paint themselves into a corner.
One of the things that’s always bugged me is how in season one, we hear Mulder tell the story of Samantha’s abduction and in the first (I believe) episode of season 2 we get to see it happen….only it’s nothing like what Mulder originally said lol
The classic unreliability of memory
Just discovered the channel. Well edited, well narrated and impressive knowledge of X-Files on display. Bravo. Subscribed.
Much appreciated! Thank you very much
What always seemed ridiculous to me is that the government syndicate gave up 1 each of their own children. All of the shady crap they’ve done they could have just kidnapped an entire daycare school and gave them up to the aliens
It had to be their own children, the aliens insisted upon it to have them prove their commitment & so they could use them as hostages to help keep those involved motivated to play nice.
@@veritasome5965what did the Aliens want again ( since I don’t remember)
I admire you for creating channel dedicated to the X-files bro thats awesome
Thank you soo much that means a lot
@THEXFILESEXPLAINED Do one about the black goo in the movie, also one I remember being good had something to do with parasitic worms or something. Or that wacky one with the killer fireflies in the forest that was a trip lol. I'm half joking with suggestions. Love the show, love your channel.
Ah yes, the X-Files. Fox's breakthrough sci-fi show that launched during a time where sci-fi was considered network poison. Even the recently relaunched Star Trek was syndication only. Fox did not really know what to so with this show, and boy could you tell. They let Carter more or less have his way for the first 4 seasons, then started imposing network bloat on it.
I love the x files to this day, well the first 7 seasons, but sadly like many of the main story arcs it seems that the writers just couldnt make up their mind and/or couldnt leave somethings alone in the half assed state of conclusion they created for them. Mulders sister is a fine example....
What a good explanation, X-Files is my favourite series, thank you❤ new sub❤❤
Welcome aboard!
Thank you for this video! As a series fan, it is good to reminisce about the show
Glad you enjoyed it!
That damn fluke gave me nightmares when i was a kid 😂😂but always watched it and its my childhood favorite tv show
Scared me too. I never thought my children would feel true X-files fear until we watched Mr. Chuckle teeth.
Mulder at 12 in 1973 looked remarkably like a kid from 1993.
Just like Batman 89 finding out who murdered his patents, Mulders sisters kiddnapping resolution let the air right out of the balloon.
The starlight thing is new to me but I remember The Syndicate all giving up a child. They didn’t swap from taking Fox to taking Samantha because she was female. They did it because the 2 of them have different fathers & every family is only required to give up one child. If Fox had been given up, the cigarette smoking man would’ve been giving up 2 kids & Mulder senior wouldn’t be giving up any. That’s why Fox’s relationship with the father that raised him is so strained. I don’t think the starlight thing was a good wrap up. Samantha clearly remembers Fox so she probably remembers all her trauma. It would make more sense if she died from complications from the experiments. There’s closure in death & thinking of her in heaven is a similar emotional peace to the starlight kids
I watched that season 7 episode when it first aired. I didn't get it. Pretty sure I still don't. haha
Closes her story showing that humans are the biggest monsters out there. It might have been better to never close it out maybe have the starlight episode in Millennium with Frank black discovering Samantha Mulder.
@@devontehuntley6274 The idea would be to hint at that it is Samantha but not conclusive.
@@devontehuntley6274 Guess what the world does not give closure so fantasy can follow suit occasionally.. On another note you are entitled to your options how ever you should keep them in your butt.

This all u do?! The Files?!? Ill sub! Now!
yeah all about x files !! thank you so much !!
@@THEXFILESEXPLAINED dig it!
My favorite samantha episode was the heart cutout killer that said he killed samantha. I loved the idea that his trauma created an alien abduction to cover up the horror of a killer snatching his sister. Ultimately it didn't happen that way but that whole episode had me hooked in
Both X-Files and Lost felt like they had so much potential but it seemed like they didn’t ever really get going in a particular direction or when they did it would just dead end. They just randomly went wherever they felt like going each week with no real long term blueprint.
Was such sad episode, one of the few times the show used an outside source for music is during the scene with his sister. Moby's My Weakness.
David was the worst at " crying" i have ever seen.😂
I love relating the x files to real life. mulder was put on wild goose chases, he was gaslit, manipulated, lied to, at the end were still not sure what the hell is going on, just like in real life, it feels impossible to know the secrets of the government for 100 percent certainty. what if its a ruse?
I didn't even pick up on this starlight nonsense when I watched it. Thought she was still "out there". More than a little bit gutted finding the answer wasn't a particularly good one.
I hated the way they handled her story. It just went too far into the WTF territory. Weird things turning around to Stardust and all that BS. I would’ve rather him get his sister back and have her for a season and then she gets sick sort of like Scully did and dies, but on her deathbed, she tells molder she remembers others who were experimented upon and she wants him to keep fighting to save them… thus giving him more reason to keep on searching for the truth.
Love X files and your channel ❤
Yay! Thank you!
I always believed the bounty hunter that said she was still alive
I stopped watching the show before I found out, though I assumed that she was little more than an implanted false memory placed to cover up some other more significant event designed such that it would lead him to investigate the x-files.
The concept of "Mulder's sister" was the MacGuffin of the series, never intended to be a character in the series.
I always wondered if he ever found his sister, sadly this show wasn't a part of the series rotation when it was on while I was growing up and up until recently I'd only ever seen a handful of episodes plus the movies but recently I started watching the series and made it to season 4 before I lost interest... I don't know why buy I just never could get into this show!
Just always botjer me the bounty hunter in season 2 says shes alive so in season 6 or 7 when they find this out i couldnt believe it, wasnt until the 5 th rewatch that i started thinking maybe lol
To me, the only logical explanation, is Samantha was really Sam Beckett, the Quantum Leaper. And Sam, leaped into Samantha’s body, but was entangled forever, and so suddenly disappeared from Fox’s sight. Sam Beckett became amnesiac of her, and so, has no recollection of any connection with her. There was no logical reality in the universe which could bring her back into Mulder’s time. So, she is somewhere, and the UFO incident that Mulder apparently witnessed of her disappearance, was an accounting of a giant quantum shift, which forced an alien craft into the physical location of an opening of a quantum rift, where Samantha just happened to be, partly due to Sam Beckett’s traveling through this location n time/space. I do not think Samantha is dead, but It could be that she shows up in parallel locations to Sam Beckett’s travels. She may be really scared or she may realize what has happened, much like Holly Marshall in Land of the Lost.
This was the second biggest disappointment of the series… the finale being this first! Otherwise, the show was a masterpiece! Sucks when an amazing story has such a horrid ending! Thank you for your work, by the way! ❤
Dont forget to subscribe and like for more x files content. thanks for the support
Of course not, I think I'm the 93rd subscribed user.
Done🎉
I just figured she never wanted to return to earth and just felt at home traveling in space among the stars and the aliens had no way to convince Mulder of that.
Bring her back to tell him? They couldn’t have tried too hard if that was the case.
The very last episode in Season 11 was pathetic! Suddenly their son didn't matter, and a 50 year old Scully is pregnant...again
She's the victim I feel bad for her.
What a load of nonsense. It's been decades since I watched x-files so maybe star dust children make sense somehow, but it doesn't feel like it would belong in the show I remember.
Also even before that, having cancer man (and Mulder's father) being implicitly involved in Samantha's disappearance and choosing to never tell him, seems like such a tease and a stretch. Like I know Cancer man has a lot of secrets he keeps from everyone, and hes not really a friend of Mulders, but I think seeing how driven Mulder was by the kidnapping for years he would have told him something at somepoint.
This show had a lot of great storytelling but the alien conspiracy arc was a hyper-convoluted dumpster fire.
Why did the alien bounty hunter tell Mulder his sister was alive?
They probably retconed that cause let's be real they had no clue where the main story was headed
It’s part of a deeper lore regarding grey aliens. Everything in x-files does an insanely good job of matching 1-1 conspiracy theories. Thebgrey are believed to take our bodies to continue to live since they don’t have souls and can TRULY die unlike humans they define death as consciousness/soul vanishing not as physically stopping .
Know it sounds dumb but don’t blame me just reporting crazy people shit not writing.
Maybe he meant those clones that were based off his sister?
I think if the (X-FILES) show, got rebooted someday; This mystery would be both solved, and shown in the show series.
I didnt know thats what happened to his sister. I didn't find closure from this bs 😂
Also.... Liked and subbed
Hey thanks welcome aboard
It was all in his head. 🙄
The spiritual stuff really ruined the series for me. Aliens/monsters, fine. Spirits and shit, no thank you.
the fabled christopher walkens turned her to stardust? is that what was said, somehow i cant make it out. sorry english isn't my first language exactly.
Could have been a much more in-depth storyline, a little disappointed in the simple ending to such an interesting thing
no they didnt do justice... justice would be the syndicate suffering
The early years of Supernatural was really good thanks to Kim Manners. I love the X-Files, except the the later years. They really dropped the ball with the reboot.
People seem to love this episode. It SUCKED. Everything about it. Even that fucking monologue. I remember first seeing it and not knowing what the fuck or why the fuck they were pulling this out of their asses. It's lazy, confusing, pretentious, manipulative, and anti-climactic. A total cop-out. It probably marks the beginning of when I started to lose interest in the show.
This was the worst thing about the entire show cuz when its answered it sucks
Shark attack.
I'd stopped watching by this point, it all got a bit arse tbh.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
To to to ti to to to..ti tu to tooo
She took the probe like a champ🙄
This part of the story sucked. They really just phoned in the story arc of his sister. "She died and ghosts took her" or whatever. Lazy. They could have made it so much more interesting and/or mysterious
Why was lone gunmen canceled after one episode?
Ratings. A lot of people didn’t care to watch a spin off about the IT nerds lol.
