  • Is this video I will show you how to SAFELY remove the dents from your two stroke dirt bike exhaust pipe. I bought a two stroke pipe repair kit off of eBay and will take you through a safe tutorial on how to use a Map gas torch and and compressed air to get the dents out of a two stroke dirt bike pipe. There are all kinds of warnings from people that this method is dangerous, (and it certainly can be) but under the right safety precautions, you can fix your dented pipe using this method without a problem. I have included the link below in my description to where I purchased the repair kit from!
    Here is the link to grab yourself the pipe repair kit! This is the 125-300cc kit but this seller (allgoods222) has kits for just 250's, 125's, etc.

    I've removed dents from dozens of pipes and I've found in order to get the dents all the way out you need to run more psi at least 60 or 80 in some extreme cases and more heat to the point the metal is bright yellow/white, may seem excessive but I've been doing it like that for years and haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood) haha! Also I made my own set up for sealing the pipe off and I've had it over 100 psi and have never blown any of the ends off. If you go to Tyler Monagan's cr125 build on here I'm the one getting the dents out of his pipe. Hope this helps man keep up the good work 🤘

      @GregHitchko  3 года назад +2

      Right on! I really appreciate that feedback, super helpful. I did feel like I could have gone higher on the PSI as nothing felt weird with the process but its hard to know for sure. I was keeping it at that lower PSI because that is what the kit said but the way it mounts on to the pipe, especially with the flanges are the end, I don't think it would blow off if it's mounted on there correctly. Next one I do, I'll have to push the PSI a bit higher. Seems like you would need to do that with the smaller dents.

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  3 года назад

      @Doug DeGrave it definitely seemed fine to go higher on the PSI but was being cautious with the fist couple that I did. That would be legit but I think I'll keep the igniting part to zero 🤣

    would welding a solid piece of metal to the middle of the dent, heating dent up until red hot and pulling on the solid piece of metal work?
    maybe the welded on piece could be a hook, then you put the exhaust in the vice and hang some really heaving weights on the hook and heat the dent until red hot, maybe the dent would pop out? then let it cool, and cut the welded metal off. done.
    has anyone tried anything like this with success?

      @@GregHitchko You've got most of what you need to use water. Get a porta-power with a line,swap out the air valve and tap threads (pipe thread). Get a quick Release coupler ,thread it into the cap. Completely fill the pipe with water. Drain the porta-power, fill it with water,(won't hurt it). Drop the porta-power into to a bucket or any kind of tub, you'll need the capacity. Start pumping. Depending on how big the dents are, you'll need between 500 to 700 psi. Some dents can be a little stubborn, tap lightly with a hammer. No heat marks, no explosions and straightens the pipe back or very close to original shape. Most woods riders will more than dent the pipe, they also twist them,then the pipe won't seal,vibrates and some will damage the exhaust port spigot(KTM) if left too long. Water doesn't compress very well. That's why it works so good.Heat and lubrication are not an issue. Goodluck.

    i wouldnt have the courage to do this. air is compressible so dangerous, also my pipe already has welded up cracks, which under pressure and red hot to get dents out could busts and hit me with hot molten metal. then again as long as you have eye protection even that shouldnt be too bad. i mean you (technically.. sort of) get hit by hot molten metal while angle grinding and welding i guess..

    Good video, better safe than sorry! But whoever the manufacturer of that bolt kit is, they're not good at designing things. If you rotate the holes on the half clamp 90 degrees, then you have a complete hole instead of two halves which eliminates the chances of those bolts pulling through. Anyone who says heat it till it almost melts and run it at 150 psi has never had a car or truck tire explode on them and it shows...
