There is a saying that crap rolls downhill and it does. Devin was actually drained against Regis Prograis, but the fact that he rehydrated 25 pounds most likely means that he took an IV of serum to speed up the hydration process that normally takes 2 to 3 days after dehydrating. He was able to do that because he had leverage over Regis Prograis and his team. Ryan had leverage over Devin Haney and his team. Devin didn’t look nearly as big as he did against Regis and Ryan looked 10 more pounds than him. It is most likely that Ryan did to Devin what Devin did to Regis. Ryan got the Benefits from being at that weight and Devin didn’t because he had to drain down. Either way, Devin should move up to 147 and Ryan should as well
Ryan Garcia did some Bad Boy Pistons ish on Haney. A calculated hard foul knowing the consequences to get the upper hand in a fight. The style isn't for everyone, but Ryan went and took it within the parameters of the chess game. He got played against Tank, but learned and gave it right back to the system.
Haney had to cut weight which does take something out of you..,..Garcia didn't and came in normal without any negative effects because he didn't cut. So even if they both rehydrated to being bigger, one was weaker because of the weight cut and the other wasn't because they didn't cut at all
Coming in overweight was definitely a strategic move by Garcia and his team that, along with his mental health antics, had been well planned. The Haneys had two choices, demand Garcia get down to 140 or accept the 1 1/2 million dollar payoff. He opted to blow the 2nd day rehydration limit from the IBF, miss out on the chance to win their belt, so that he could have a massive weight advantage and win the fight against the current Monster of the division. Had he succeeded, all anyone would be talking about, is how Jacobs upset and beat Golovkin.. Devin Haney, in an interview, said he walks around at 170-175. Which really means 175-180... So I don't feel like him being drained was the great factor... he's a champion at this weight class and should've been able to perform like normal... he's 25 not 45... case in point-look at Floyd vs. Marcos Miadana; huge weight difference... power and strength was against Floyd and he found a way to out box him and make the rounds count... Haney under estimated him from day 1 to round 1!!! flat out... And his defense isn't as great as it should be.. plenty of holes to exploit besides the hook... Also Ryan was just as Fast against Tank regardless of the weight clause...but Tank had a better strategy and out boxed him...even Tank said he was still cracking him and that Ryan had much power in that fight... Tank just had the power and strategy to flatline him which Haney good never do... but!!! Haney definitely has the ability to score more and win rounds... This was a game of Tactics and Ryan played him well... played to his ego... from the side bets; to the online antics; Haney felt like he had this in the bag... I think it’s definitely on haney, he is around the age where your muscles change . “Man strength” right around 26 for most. So he may be 147. But regardless, I don’t think it would make changes that quick in him to where he could no longer make 140. But we don’t know. He will never say he’s drained no matter how he looks so we can really only make an educated guess.
I know in the UFC they take 30 or 40 % percent of your pay and it always goes to your opponent. It never goes to the UFC or anyone else. It always goes to the opponent. I don't know about boxing.
Starting to think that if you can't make the weight then the fight is called off and the fighter not making the weight is fined 'severely' and his ranking is affected as if he lost the fight. At least this way making weight is taken seriously 'on an even playing field for both fighters' and is not manipulated at the whim of a fighter / team or third party. Just a thought ...
I’m confused is there tare on the scale because he weighed in with sweat pants boxing shoes and a beer. I’m a say he was really like 142. I’m not sure the 2 lbs made that much of a difference. Not sure how true but also Ryan was saying that he was like 155 160 fight night and Devin was like 170? I think the problem was Devin getting caught early and then at spurts during the fight. He couldn’t adjust, however still fighting a good fight. Without the knockdowns that decision might’ve been different.

So I don't feel like him being drained was the great factor... he's a champion at this weight class and should've been able to perform like normal... he's 25 not 45... case in point-look at Floyd vs. Marcos Miadana; huge weight difference... power and strength was against Floyd and he found a way to out box him and make the rounds count... Haney under estimated him from day 1 to round 1!!! flat out... And his defense isn't as great as it should be.. plenty of holes to exploit besides the hook... Also Ryan was just as Fast against Tank regardless of the weight clause...but Tank had a better strategy and out boxed him...even Tank said he was still cracking him and that Ryan had much power in that fight... Tank just had the power and strategy to flatline him which Haney good never do... but!!! Haney definitely has the ability to score more and win rounds... This was a game of Tactics and Ryan played him well... played to his ego... from the side bets; to the online antics; Haney felt like he had this in the bag... I think it’s definitely on haney, he is around the age where your muscles change . “Man strength” right around 26 for most. So he may be 147. But regardless, I don’t think it would make changes that quick in him to where he could no longer make 140. But we don’t know. He will never say he’s drained no matter how he looks so we can really only make an educated guess.
I know in the UFC they take 30 or 40 % percent of your pay and it always goes to your opponent. It never goes to the UFC or anyone else. It always goes to the opponent. I don't know about boxing.

Starting to think that if you can't make the weight then the fight is called off and the fighter not making the weight is fined 'severely' and his ranking is affected as if he lost the fight. At least this way making weight is taken seriously 'on an even playing field for both fighters' and is not manipulated at the whim of a fighter / team or third party. Just a thought ...
I’m confused is there tare on the scale because he weighed in with sweat pants boxing shoes and a beer. I’m a say he was really like 142. I’m not sure the 2 lbs made that much of a difference. Not sure how true but also Ryan was saying that he was like 155 160 fight night and Devin was like 170? I think the problem was Devin getting caught early and then at spurts during the fight. He couldn’t adjust, however still fighting a good fight. Without the knockdowns that decision might’ve been different.
