Muscle memory is such an underrated selling point. It's the biggest reason to buying a pkb phone. I can walk around and type without looking at my phone. I know it's accurate. It makes it safer to use in a lot of instances. It can make social situations a little less rude. I can type under my desk while still talking face to face with someone. It saves me time, because I hate having to stop what I'm doing (say in a store) to text someone. I just wanna type while walking....do so with a glass slab is just rude and you often get in people's way, or you gotta waste your time and step to the side.
I still have my z10, and I use it in tandem to my android device. And, its more than a connecting device. I use it as a secure storage device, especially for storing passwords in its password keeper. I keep music in it, and use it to open PowerPoints, excel sheets, word documents, and PDF. Also, I use it as a notepad. It's very useful.
My first Blackberry was a Curve 8830 and my last Blackberry was the Bold 9930. I really loved my Blackberries for a time. Switched to iPhone in 2012 and haven’t left iOS since. There are still days I miss that 9930 physical keyboard. BB still had the best keyboards I’ve ever used.
you reminded me just how much I love and miss blackberry. im so sad to hear their contract is up in august.which is shocking and confusing bc I watched a few key3 videos and I absolutely fell IN LOVE with it! I switched to iPhone from a BB and I missed it so much. I wish back in the mid-to late 2000's, blackberry kept up with the times and the speeds of the phone bc I thought they were such a great phone. not long after switching to iPhones, I ended up loathing them. I have had nothing but problems with iPhones. and I would so much rather a physical keyboard which a lot of people were dragging in a lot of videos. I hope theres some sort of solution with BB and they continue making phones and getting better and better. I would LOVE to have another BB!!
We will have to wait and see. It sucks that the licensing agreement is ending but maybe it’s for the best. TCL and BlackBerry Mobile didn’t do a great job with supporting the devices or quality control. I’m not going to give up yet. Waiting to see what happens after the licensing agreement ends to see if they announce a new one with someone else. Going to have to wait and see... but who knows.
TechOdyssey dang, well that sucks and is sad to hear that they shot themselves in the foot. I’ll continue to have hope too! These phones nowadays are 😒 frustrating. I’m about to place my iPhone on top of a firecracker and watch it explode 😆
Why did you ever feel you had to switch phones? My first Blackberry was the original Pearl in around '07, which didn't last very long thanks to the mechanical track ball. but it did get me hooked on the concept..Then I got a Blackberry Curve in '09. That lasted until 2015, when i picked up a Blackberry Classic. The keyboard on that started to become glitchy, from a few keys that would stick I think, and so just last week I picked up a new-in-the-box Key2. I like it ok, but I do miss the intuitive nature of the Blackberry operating system, which I think is miles ahead of any Android system. I also miss the optical track-pad with a curser on the screen, and arrow keys! Those features alone made it better than anything else on the market. In the end, there are zero reasons to use anything else as long as any Blackberry will even sorta-kinda work on today's networks.
I still wish there was a Priv 2. I was using the original Priv as my work phone and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I had to upgrade back in late 2019 because my firm's software doesn't run on Android 6 anymore. The Priv was the perfect Blackberry to me. It had all screen for content consumption but a slide out keyboard when you want tactile feedback when typing. If Blackberry ever releases a Priv 2 with 2021 flagship hardware and a better physical keyboard, that would be my dream phone.
I'm writing to you from a BlackBerry Key2. Prior to this I had the Priv and this really feels like a step up as far as speed is concerned. Absolutely love this phone and don't feel left out with apps (as I did when I had the Q10 and Z10). I will continue to use my Key2 for as long as possible.
I've been keeping my priv going. I put a new battery in it from ebay but it was the same 2200mAh (in real use, it advertised 3400mAh) as my degraded old one. I bought a more expensive 3rd party battery. I hope it works better but i haven't put it in yet. Overall the phone overheats too often. Can I turn off the DTEK stuff to squeeze a little more out? What does it even do beside remind you to put a screenlock on? I would get the Key2 but they seem to $$$ for what you are getting. I have the 'updates available' error where it won't update the OS because BB or Google has control and I have to deactivate Google for the upgrade? I haven't done it yet though it had that problem over a year. I wish someone would make normal good QWERTY phones still. I liked the Priv better when I first got it, the BB SMS message program was nicely integrated into the hub. At some point it changed to open the Google messages app instead, which is annoying because the transition from hub to SMS is broken. I work around it. I wish manufacturers wouldn't take their loyal customers for granted and drop support. Oh well.
@@ruslbicycle6006 It's a shame that the Priv only got one major OS upgrade. I was using the Priv until late 2019 as my work phone until my firm's apps no longer supports Android 6.
Thank you for sharing your expertise, TechOdyssey! I've used BlackBerry phones forever and always vowed to be loyal for as long as they're being produced because they were originally a Canadian company. When other people zig, I like to zag. I'm sad to hear that 2020 is the end of the road. I'll take good care of my KeyOne and Key2 in hopes they last a while. This is a change I'm not looking forward to.
@@TechOdyssey hello sir..I want a brand new blackberry Q10.. where can I buy.. because in India there is no blackberry store is selling their phones.😒😔
Heck, in 2020 my main device is a Classic, serves me well, has some good podcast apps that still work, crystal clear audio and great reception. Battery lasts 2-3 days with moderate use, very stable. So good I will buy another as backup.
aw man do I miss my classic! so great to hear yours is still rocking on! it beats these crappy $1000-$1500 phones whose batteries dont even last a full day and have constant problems!
I still use my Z30. After seven years, it still works. Yes, the browser is struggling and the app world is in tough shape, but otherwise, for phone, text, email, bluetooth all still works. Wish that some money could be invested into the system to give it a leg up.
The Z30 was/is a very good phone. I really enjoyed mine when I had it, multiple times lol. I just started using the Q10 again last night. I got the special edition white/gold one and I've been setting it up. I can't get my Google contacts to load which is annoying but it did setup my email, thankfully. It's definitely more limited than ever but still, phone calls and texting are great. The browser is definitely not what it used to be but thankfully still works for the most part. I wish they could revitalize the OS as well.
@@TechOdyssey I've been a huge advocate for bb for a long time, and when they finally started dropping phones running android, I was pumped. The priv definitely had its drawbacks but I loved it. Better than having to purchase a whole separate keyboard attachment for your phone. The overheating issues could be solved, and the battery life too. Wouldn't be too hard of a fix.
Still using my blackberry passport Silver Edition AndI am loving it. The cell is “ perfect” “ makes perfect calls” as a matter of fact my last call was perfect. Please Lord “ Make Blackberry Great Again”. “ MBGA”.
I went from iPhones to blackberries then to android and now I'm typing this on my BlackBerry key2 and I absolutely love it. I spent way too much to get it from Amazon but I don't even regret it.
Bought mine at launch for the $649 pricetag from BestBuy. I've been surprised by my lack of desire to upgrade, all prevous BlackBerry devices had too many compromises but the Key2 is truly a jack of all trades and has the power to do it all
@@TechOdyssey If I had ONE gripe or one thing I'd change it would be the camera. Not even the whole module, just give me OIS darnit! BB phones haven't had OIS since the Priv
I just bought another KeyOne and it arrived today. I've had the other one for 2 years and 7 months. The only reason I bought a new one is because of the battery. I purchased my new KeyOne from AT&T.
This is why I went with the Unihertz Titan instead of an actual Blackberry. I only had one Blackberry so the only ecosystem feature I care about is the physical keyboard itself, so that, modern android features, and continued support are what let me to the Titan. I'm liking it so far. Nice discussion
4 years with my priv 🙂 4 years that I love my phone. I bought it just after my LG G3 and without any regrets. Reaplace Google maps by Waze, more speed. I had the same "problem".
i just had my Priv's battery, charge port, and screen replaced a couple weeks ago. I hope that the next generation of BlackBerry models include a slider phone but with the quality and tech at least at the level of the Key2
Sadly I had to give up on my BlackBerry Motion. It kept restarting several time a day. Factory reset the phone in case it was an app causing the problem. But the phone still kept restarting. Went out and got a Galaxy S20+. It's good phone, but the hub and bb keyboard will be missed.
I am a fan 2 ...never had another brand. I wish they would bring out an android passport....btw...whats your opinion on the unihertz passport like phone?
I think that it's a promising device. I've really been trying to get my hands on one to review but so far I haven't been successful. So much craziness has been going on that I lost communication with them. I really want to test it out and see how well it performs and holds up. I would imagine that it will make a lot of passport users very happy, since it's a solid looking clone of the passport, which we love so much, but it's finally running android. The price isn't bad either.
I still use a blackberry bold. am I the last one ? Can’t beat the compact size and keyboard. Any know how to transfer stored memos to Key One ? ATT says they won,t sept this phone for long.
Good video. Very honest and pragmatic. I enjoy using my Black Edition BlackBerry KeyOne. Great device, good camera, keyboard and EXCELLENT battery life.
Great video man! I used to love BB.If i would have lots of money i would buy the majority stock in BB and try to bring BB up there again, where this company was once!
Picked up the Key2 LE last fall and really digging it. Like you, I've had BB all the way back to the side thumb wheel days and can't give up the keypad.
Yup. Man... I remember messing up the thumbwheel on my old BBRY, and blowing out several track balls on my Pearls. People just don't understand. Some of us love keyboards and have been using BlackBerries for over 15 years.
i'm still rockin' my Priv which was a change from my Passport SE which was a change from my Torch. My Priv ticks me off at times, but it's my baby. Love feeling like i'm in the Matrix w/ my slide out keyboard. LOVE my friggin' KEYBOARD. not tech savvy, don't watch movies on my phone, don't listen to music on my phone, internet search is cool, google play & search are good enough for my needs...i'm set for now. can't give up my keyboard.
Just received a brand new Key1 (200 on Amazon) about 3 weeks ago- right as this apocalypse got going... I highly recommend the Key1, it's my favorite phone ever, 10 out of 10. I only wish there was a keyboard shortcut for the drag-down notifications, I love REAL BUTTON SHORTCUTS !!!- space bar to answer a call and power button to hang up- real buttons like devices have done for over a HUNDRED YEARS !!
I use the same combination, Classic is 4 years old and no problem, KeyOne Black Edition surprised me, never braked, would be perfect to have Blackberry OS.
Hey nice video! Typing this from my silver KeyOne that's 2,5 years old atm, I smashed the screen on it couple weeks back and got a replacement for 12 bucks and installed it myself, I love this thing!
Middle of June 2020 and I'm still rocking my z10, lol. But you are absolutely correct when you say it's nothing more than a Communications device. Sadly, as more time passes I lose access to websites, pages, apps, email servers and just about anything that could be important. I haven't been able to send an MMS in Lord knows how long, I can't access many many web pages. Yahoo mail has basically given up suppor6t. Gmail is starting to glitch out as well. I know it's just a matter of time before the whole system fails and I lose access to the everything. She did me good for all these years, i will always be a Blackberry fan thanks for your awesome videos Man.
a BB Passport on Android would have been insane , i always got great comments when people were seeing my Passport, I have right now the Keyone and i like it !
My dad used to work for blackberry. My first phone was a blackberry dev alpha B (I think. It definitely was a z10 with a square body). After that, I got a z30 when I lost it. I have used it for several years, and got a dtek 60 up and running after replacing the screen, since it was my mom's old phone
@@spirg I believe the downfall of BlackBerry started when they released the BlackBerry Storm. I believe this was their first touchscreen device & it had so many issues with software that it really hurt them with consumers.
I've had a Blackberry since 2002 (5820 followed by the 7230, I still have my 7230 downstairs in a drawer and it still works to this day), still have one now, and have had one or another throughout this entire time. They were literally world changing. Everything an iPhone did several years later, my Blackberry was doing several years earlier. Currently still using a Classic, and love it. It died briefly this morning, before waking up again and being as good as new, hence me finding this video, to see what was happening with Blackberry. Glad to hear they might be back. A world without Blackberry and full qwerty keyboards and totally dominated by iPhones would be a sad world indeed.
I actually abandoned using BlackBerry's a few days ago..... My cell phone carrier had a great deal on a Samsung S10.... I debated it for a long while and said screw it.... I really miss having a physical keyboard. I got way to comfortable with it between my Priv then my Keyone Black Edition. I stopped using my Black Edition because it's battery was wearing out..... Tried my Priv again for about a month, did many things to it to increase its performance a little, and battery life, got it to last 4 hours 20mins screen on time..... Still crap, just as bad as the aged battery in my KeyOne Black Edition. I kinda wanted a Key2 (non LE) But yeah no way to get one cheap.... Bottom line is I am trying to sell my Black Edition for a little extra $$ for my new PC build project. I'll likely keep my Priv forever. Loved it's design... Who knows maybe Blackberry may "make" phones again.... If they do we will see where things stand 2/3 years from now when I'll be done with the S10.
I hear ya, and don't blame you at all. The S10 is a great phone. I have a Fold and an S20 Ultra, but thankfully I have two sim card so I still bounce back and forth between my BlackBerry quite often, and use it for twitter on WIFI at home all the time. Great phones. I just hope that somebody picks up the licensing agreement or BBRY starts making them again - both are pipe dreams at this point, but I think there's still a lot of people who enjoy the devices.
@@TechOdyssey I agree, I would like to see someone else pick of the licensing and maybe be a little more ambitious with it.... I totally respect the Key series more traditional BlackBerry design... But what I always wanted to see was another slider like the Priv! Be great if another company got the license and did both! But as you could tell I wasn't going to hold my breath.... I think BlackBerry will find other ways to make money..... But who knows, time will tell! I quite like my S10, getting use to the keyboard is annoying.... I am actually starting to use the swipe finger dragging typing thing.... It helps a bit with my speed but still faster on a BlackBerry... Only issue is I sometimes send texts that don't make complete sense because I don't pay enough attention to the words it places...
@@TechOdyssey I already did! The Samsung one sucks! @the_boon I considered replacing it's battery, but at least where I am in Canada, I didn't see any more legit brand batteries for it. Just no name chinese ones, or ones that already had bad reviews. I live at the border and got family in the states. I could of checked out the US eBay and Amazon. But I kinda went operation give the Priv a 2nd chance and didn't turn back haha. With everything I did to the Priv to get an extra hour of screen on time on it, I could of done to my KeyOne Black Edition, it would of sped it up and increased it's battery no doubt.... But I didn't.... If I can get what I want for it, It will be sold.... Otherwise I'll hoard it no doubt... But not doing much good to me in a box when it's still worth a little bit of cash.
@phillip perkins I suppose I was getting a little tired of it. Wanted something newer and better. KeyOne one was getting slower on me. But yes scaling back the BlackBerry stuff would of helped just like it did on my Priv. But I didn't bother. Just stuck with the Priv till I seen a deal on this S10.
I so wish they would had made a Priv 2 when you slide that keyboard heads turn. I met a few ladies with the slide but it had problems as you noted. Back on key one and classic now.
I just have such a hard time typing on touchscreens and dont want/need a phone to align satellites or open my garage door from 11 blocks away. I text/email, watch RUclips ans read the news. A physical keyboard is important to me.
I use my PRIV for 3 years. Its still working, DTEC sure encrypting everything, cost was like 120$ new and can not believe anybody could spend 1T$ for "U know what"
I love my Classic... but if I have to choose something usable. I would take my Keyone Blackedition. Still feels at least a bit like a Blackberry. The Key2 is better but for me misses the magic.
I had a Pixel 3a but I sometimes have neuropathy in my fingers. I need a physical keyboard. I stopped using my new $400 Pixel and bought a new $150 Chinese market KeyOne, removed the Chinese language displays and am totally satisfied with it. I can type as before.
My 2 favorite berries were the Z30 and Passport. An Android Passport would have been off the chain for BB. I finally gave it up last year when I lost my Dtek50 and Michael Clewley left Blackberry. Blackberry made great phones.
Yeah. The Passport and Z30 were great. I also loved the Q10, and then the keyboard on the Classic was probably the best ever, IMO. I had always hoped for a passport migration to Android but it never happened.
Just replaced my Passport OG to the Passport SE last fall and it feels so much more classier. I feel like I'm in the minority. I had both Passport and Priv. But unfortunately, the Priv was starting to show its age and it slowed down a lot.
@@vensankasel2128 when I first bought my Silver Edition, BlackBerry was still selling them from their website early 2017. So, yes. I have been holding back on using the SE for nearly 3 years before my OG died.
@@ksquared2618 I absolutely think so. I use mine all the time, everyday and still get very good performance and most especially great battery life. I will almost certainly look to buy another one if this one ever breaks.
My Z10 does about 99% of what I need it for. It's a bit laggy sometimes, but I manage. If only BB would bring current software and features and massage them into the Z10 package, life would be better. The thought of getting a phone twice the size is of little interest. The Z10 is a perfect fit and doesn't have all of the unnecessary stuff. Thanks for the video.
I got a pretty much new in box Q10 a couple of years ago and managed to get it hooked up to a Verizon sim card for a second phone number even though it was getting tough to get old tech on by then. I need to move the number but I am loathe to part with the Q10 and being able to use it when I want to. My main phone is an iPhone 6S+ but the q10 has such a great feel - the keyboard is wonderful. For all their tech wizardry, modern phones are soul-less by comparison. I always used Blackberrys and Nokias but got sucked into iPhone by the 4s when I needed a new phone in a hurry and it was affordable. The 4s was rather nice though. I couldn’t throw my Nokia 7110 away, (the one with the slider), and I sometimes look at it fondly and wish we still had cool stuff like that around.
I have been using mny blackberry phones for mny years since blackberry curve 8900. The best experience I had so far with blackberry is blackberry 10. It is unique and does everything I need, especially so smooth. But when I move on to blackberry keyone which runs android, I don't feel like it's blackberry anymore. I feel like I am using android phone with blackberry keyboard on it. The experience is different night and day from the old blackberry platforms. So now I am back to use my beloved q10 because I find my classic is too heavy and too big even though I love the keyboard on the classic. Overall, I hope blackberry will continue on with their OS 10 and keep coming out with new awesome blackberry phones. Not everyone loves all screen phones. The only thing I need from the blackberry is more supported apps and more powerful components. Long live blackberry.
Most berry users from what i understand never got it for the camera (just an added bonus) i had the priv and a few of the older models ... I think, i never used the camera as much as i do on thr Samsung phones.
@@Citizen_of_the_Verse oh. I was specially talking about the LE. The LE camera is potato if it's not in ideal lighting. The KEY2 and KEYone and earlier devices had decent cameras.
I have the key2 le in champagne and I just recently got the priv. I prefer the priv because of the amoled display, its 5.4 inches in size, better camera, and I like the sliding mechanism for the touch sensitive keyboard. Sliders have gone the way of the dodo and its just fun and cool to have one again. However, as you stated the lack of updates really does suck but all BlackBerry devices are headed that way so it is what it is. Nice video.

Still have my BB Motion and am still loving it. Have you heard anything on the BB Evolve?
Thank you for sharing your expertise, TechOdyssey! I've used BlackBerry phones forever and always vowed to be loyal for as long as they're being produced because they were originally a Canadian company. When other people zig, I like to zag. I'm sad to hear that 2020 is the end of the road. I'll take good care of my KeyOne and Key2 in hopes they last a while. This is a change I'm not looking forward to.

Me too. I would definitely buy another Classic when my current one dies. Really can't see any reason not to. Had the original Classic too.
An updated version of the Priv would be amazing. The slide out keyboard was such a nice option to have. I miss mine, but the battery went
Yeah. That would be super nice. If only!
I wish they's come out with a true Blackberry operating system that would 'talk' to everything on the networks.
Watching this from BlackBerry key2 black.
Never ever had any other feelings for any other phone. All I need and will even need is in my bbkey2

Nice. I hope you still enjoy using it for a long time and it serves you well.
@@TechOdyssey I am stuck between Key Two and Evolve (Canadian companies rogers and bell support it). Which would you argue is better?
This is why I went with the Unihertz Titan instead of an actual Blackberry. I only had one Blackberry so the only ecosystem feature I care about is the physical keyboard itself, so that, modern android features, and continued support are what let me to the Titan. I'm liking it so far. Nice discussion
blackberry 10 is excellent to use as a media player, flac files, mp3, mp4,mkv, etc

I have been using a Key2 for just over a year or so. I am happy with it.
It's a great phone! Glad you're enjoying it
I've been using the Key2 since it came out , best phone ever, fantastic typing experience
Still using two of a kind: BlackBerry Classic Q20 and Keyone Silver. And I still loving it!
Nice. Great combo! I loved the Classic. Best keyboard ever.
I have the same combination! Mine, I thought I may out of date anyway. And I was thinking if I should upgrade to key2 ...

Awesome. Thanks for the support, and thanks for watching.
My dad used to work for blackberry. My first phone was a blackberry dev alpha B (I think. It definitely was a z10 with a square body). After that, I got a z30 when I lost it. I have used it for several years, and got a dtek 60 up and running after replacing the screen, since it was my mom's old phone
BlackBerry was such a iconic brand back in the day.
Yeah they were.
MarkC609 “ Was “. Good point , no more
@@spirg I believe the downfall of BlackBerry started when they released the BlackBerry Storm. I believe this was their first touchscreen device & it had so many issues with software that it really hurt them with consumers.
I loved the Priv. Only had to sell it...
...to get my hands on the Key2LE.
Love my Priv. Simple and reliable.
@@TheIdleCrow download the gboard keyboard from the app store. You'll thank me later.
@@TechOdyssey I already did! The Samsung one sucks!
@the_boon
I considered replacing it's battery, but at least where I am in Canada, I didn't see any more legit brand batteries for it.
Physical keyboards are the best.
I dont need character or style lol. I just need to be able to type effectively!!!
I use my PRIV for 3 years. Its still working, DTEC sure encrypting everything, cost was like 120$ new and can not believe anybody could spend 1T$ for "U know what"

BRING BACK BB OPERATING SYSTEM...I went back to my PASSPORT..WHO THE FLUCK NEEDS APPS
Exactly. If you need apps on your phone to make it useful, your phone can't be that good to begin with.
My Q10 works just fine.
Writing you from my Q10, I am sure I won't need another brand for at least 3-4 next year's.. Best regards from Athens-Greece!!..

Nope not going to happen
I have the key2 le in champagne and I just recently got the priv. I prefer the priv because of the amoled display, its 5.4 inches in size, better camera, and I like the sliding mechanism for the touch sensitive keyboard. Sliders have gone the way of the dodo and its just fun and cool to have one again.
