It was great watching you both get in the groove. You know you both wanted to get up and shake it. 😂
Bill Bartlett the lead singer and guitarist with Ram Jam is still going strong to this day. He still tours and has even been part of the Yardbirds tour since around 2015.
This song will stick with you for the rest of your life.
It will be odd moments, a sound, a tune...You immediately go into the "Ram Jam" audio loop. ;-)
Been there many times.
All the best.
Cheers.
The other day you cried and today you laughed, it's the magic of music. Peace!
So Cute you two are. A song from my childhood, love it!
A great pure rock and roll tune and everyone wishes it were longer!
Can you believe this was a one hit wonder for these guys?
What a tune. AWESOMENESS.... BLACK BETTY V BLACK BEAUTY = 🐎 😅😂
That is one of the best rock song ever !!!!!Is a clasic
I love this song, great musicians.
One hit wonders of the 1970's.
Everyone plays this version, but the Album version is much longer and shows the guitar work so much better.
A song for putting a smile on your face :)
Lol. Andre.... You are thinking of "Black Beauty" the horse. AWESOME TUNE. Icannot wait for this reaction.
I always enjoyed this song. It’s crazy.
Loved seeing you have fun! Such a great song! You two are one of my favorite reactors. ❤️❤️
Love the quiet country and the lights in the cities at night. I hope you both get to travel to the places you dream of going to.
Great reaction video guys...such a fun song
My oldest son has a black Trans Am and he calls it Black Betty he always plays this song when he go out driving!
This song just gets you up and makes you feel good!
"Black Betty" was Ram Jam's only big hit in 1977. But it is one of the most fun & energetic songs. Just some dudes hanging out in someone's back yard & jamming out. Love it! "Black Betty" is a 20th-century African-American work song often credited to Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter as the author, though the earliest recordings are not by him.
While some may think “Black Betty” refers to a woman, others claim it’s a nickname for any number of objects, including a bottle of whiskey, a whip, an 18th century musket or even a penitentiary transfer wagon.
@Sub if you are against antifa and BLM No one knows for sure the true meaning of this song.
It has to be about a woman. She had a child... Listen to the words people. It's not that complicated.
A legal case and some touchy radio stations did for this as a hit at the time but it still became a classic.
Love this song hope you get a kick out of it
The Black Betty was a muzzle loading rifle, made in Burmingham, Alabama. And yes, they were partying on beer and weed. It was 1977 America. Backyard parties and jams.
I've heard of the british brown bess rifle. Never heard one called black betty.
My wife gets the “vapors” when she sees Johnny Depp in the movie “Blow” & this is playing in the background
Hey, you two Europeans.
You guys take me back to the years when I was a teenager!
I was a 15-year-old boy and in the 1st grade....
THIS was one of my favorite songs, along with "Barracuda" by the Hearts
P.s.: I really appreciate that little picture that is to the left of Dominika.
I own a similar small picture (made on a silver frame), given to me by an Orthodox Christian friend of mine (I am, however, Roman Catholic) and which was specially blessed by the (Orthodox) Eparch of St. Petersburg
Thank you so much, thank you so much for appreciating my comment.
I just want to add one thing, which concerns Andrei...
Andrei,
Do you know that you are very similar (morphologically speaking) to the Romanian monks (that I have met, in the course of my life) and who live in Romanian Orthodox Christian monasteries (especially located in Transylvania)?
You remind me (with your very nice, very polite and very patient way of doing) the many discussions I had with them and which (with great discretion, on their part) were never prevaricating, but always full of active listening, of reflection and a great reason for learning and theological reflection.
1977. THE ultimate year in musical terms imo. I was 13 and "Sultans of swing" was released too. Still two of my absolute favorit tunes.
I ❤️ you two😅
It’s a work song and they turned it to a party song. You don’t need to know more than pour yourself into the fun
Are you talking about the horse in the book named Black Beauty? Hahahahaha😊😊😅😅😂🎉🎉🎉
Look up The Lemon Pipers for a stark contrast - lead singer plays guitar.
Leadbelly did a version of this in the 30’s. They definitely made it their own
Anytime you want to come to LA let me know. You can stay with us N/C lots to see and do! I’ve heard this song through out my life still don’t know what the heck it’s about! Lol
There's a longer version of this, that you may enjoy more.
They are not on something, that was the Energy of people back in the 1970's!
There is a studio version that is longer. I've watched about ten reactions to Black Betty by RamJam recently and all of the reactors are smiling by the first verse. 😂
This song was reworded by Lead Belly in 1939
One hit wonder. Loved it. Read about it
it's always a pleasure to see you again and see you commenting on songs. I suggest you see the video of ''algérino - bawa''
he sings ''dance like a chaoui'' the chaouis come from a region in the south east of Algeria where ''the wife, the horse and the rifle'' are sacred. a little musical and visual journey
good viewing
thank's
Hi Guys, great reaction. I would really like to see you react to this again when you find out that they were talking about a rifle used in the war. PLEASE. lol
It i s about love! Ha Ha Ha
Ram Jam formed in 1977 and split up in 1978. This was their only hit. It's great, but it was the only one.
This song has been around forever. Leadbelly recorded it in the 1930's, but it's probably older than that. Black Betty refers to a rifle, and her "baby" is the bullet. Ram Jam made it a hit im 1977, and it was a Party.Song.! (we had a LOT of fun in the 70's) Sadly, they never had another hit. Glad you enjoyed it - that beat will be in your head now for a long time! Love your reactions - there is something to enjoy in any music genre, and you two do! ♥ Thank you.
They don't look like they're on something, just having fun
Nice video. You might enjoy an Australian song by Daddy Cool called Eagles Rock. Keep up the good work 😊
Pants down, boys. lol
in my opinion, and strictly my own opinion.... black betty was a musket/rifle used by british soldiers waaaay back in the day. black betty's child was the ball/bullet that she propelled through her smooth bore. "the damn thing went wild", refers to the fact that they were inaccurate, and the ball went where it wanted to. just sayin'.
This reminds me that Ren did a verse of this while busking with Sam mixed with some Stevie Wonder. It was so fun! 💜
Please seek out the unedited original version! No "official" video but it's DEFINITELY the definitive version! Smokin'! :)
The 25 videos every reactor should listen to: 1) Metallica - Sandman, from Moscow, 2) Elvis - American Trilogy 3) Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks 4) Nirvana - Teen Spirit 5) Skynyrd - Free Bird - Live at Oakland 6) Allman Brothers - Whipping Post 7) Elvis - If I Can Dream 8) Heart - Crazy on You - the one with Silver Wheels intro 9) AC/DC - Thunderstruck 10) Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight 11) Santana - Smooth 12) Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing 13) George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today 14) Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma 15) Eagles - Hotel California 16) Tom Jones - Ill Never Fall in Love Again 17) Rush - Tom Sawyer 18) BGT Paul Potts Audition 19) BGT Susan Boyle Audition 20) REM - Losing My Religion 21) CSNY - Suit Judy Blue Eyes 22) Bobby Joe Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe 23) Pink Floyd - Crazy Diamond 24) Willie Nelson & Ray Charles - Seven Spanish Angels 25) Rod Stewart and Ron Woods - Mandolin Wind
As mentioned before, the first verse is an old work/slave song. This part is usually sung much, much slower. The second and third verses were actually written by the lead singer, and he wrote them about his favorite pin-up model, namely Betty Page. So it's actually two songs in one.
I've read in many accounts that the 1st verse refers to black powder muskets, w h en fired the blinded many soldiers. Black Betty being the black powder. 2nd refers to black hashish, a fine smoking material that is much more potent than weed. 3rd verse refers to the black Betty woman u referred to
@@kenkonwick6660 I actually saw an interview with the lead singer. Someone managed to track him down a few years ago and had a phone interview with him. One of the things he asked him about was this song, and that was his explanation.
💯
There is actually an extended longer version of this. This is the short Radio edit version
They spent the video money on Weed!! ❤😊😂
Welcome to the 70s. Texas
Black beauty was the horse 😁
Hi **MyFavCoupleEver** not sure if anyone has said this yet in the comments BUT if ya ever watched the movie "Blow" with Johnny Depp this song was played in it...Ha LUV your reaction as usual **PixieHugz&Luvz**
I think I know her !
The guitar solo is edited, maybe a 3rd heard. Is a great song
Black Betty is a rffle, well as i Can read me to in fb😊
❤😊😂❤😊😂
Listen again youll get it. She had a child said it wasnt his. Its close to love but not quite.
Y'all can meet up in Texas.
Black Beauty was a horse! Black Betty is a combination of things! A type of gun/musket/rifle in the first verse, the second verse is about drugs and the last verse is about a woman. I see someone explained the musket to you pretty well, @angusrocks939, so I don't need to go into all of that, and the rest of the song is pretty self-explanatory! good luck with your channel, I subscribed here I think I must have forgotten to do it last time I was here, but it's done now. Thank you, I was entertained and enjoyed my visit with you!
Deb
I do believe the majority of the budget went on weed. :)
i think i know....... , its a horse😂. the horse you mean is black beauty its from a tv show from the 70#s and several movies
A few hundred dollars a video camera and your backyard…voila
Black betty was a gun, a drink, and a woman... Listen to the long version
Guys on speed riding motorcycles in a friend's backyard
Umpgh umpf 😂
Actually, the horse is called Black Beauty. Lol
Black Betty has Bern identified as a number of things.
In this song, however, it sounds like a woman.
Black Betty is a horse :)
It's Black Beauty, but close enough :)
It's actually an ancient song from Lead Belly (one of the great ones)
