The elastic bungy is a great idea to stop the front tether from flopping around...I have mine as long as is possible without being able to be sucked in, mainly so I can use the same tether for mooring etc...maybe I can adopt the idea in my setup, and if not, attach a separate extra mooring rope is the next best option.
Hi Peter, I use to have just a heavy bungee cord for the tether and it seemed to work ok too, but since I'm selling the ones in the video, I figured I should be using them and have recently swapped over! There are several ways to do it, but the main thing is to totally avoid having to run the engine when you have your anchor rope in the water. I've seen too many skis disabled completely by sucking up the anchor ropes. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@Jetcast You wouldn't be an agent for GC by any chance?....as I imagine it would be more economical to ship a few items at the same time, and then reship those heavier items locally....the front rod holder and extra tank make so much sense
@@mekuranda I’d like to, and of course know GC. But so far we haven’t been able to work it out. Freight is very expensive across the Tasman currently and DHL adding additional charges every month. It’s hard to make it economical
Likewise Thomas. Sorry I had to take that phone call as I wanted to have a chat before you went.. anyway, thanks for subscribing to the channel, and watching the videos mate!
Thank you for an excellent explanation. I have been researching and not quite getting it. The loops in the main anchor line was the missing piece for me.
I’ve never really dropped an anchor on a reef except in a boat and they make specific anchors for that. You might be better off drift fishing or do what I do and use the PWC engine to “hover” over a spot . Thanks for watching !
If the tide is going out or wind is offshore.anchoring from the front still leaves the ski facing the shore while the swell is pushing into the rear.say anchored off an offshore reef while surfing
Rare for us...normally wind and wind swell come from similar directions as we are not sitting in the surf zone, and when it doesn't and the wind gets too strong, it gets too rough for fishing- wind against tide/swell makes it extremely uncomfortable. The bigger issue is the problem of dragging the tail of the ski under and getting water forced into exhaust and engine. Recipe for breakdown -if not a sinking.
Cheers William! You can find these anchor tethers (and also a new shore anchor kit) at my website. It will save you the hassle of making one! :) www.jetcast.au
There’s a link in the description of the video. But here it is: www.Jetfisher.com. I’ve just run out of stock but more coming. Thanks for watching Chris.
Good system, but I think you have to unwrap the rope off the arm, because the cable tie won’t break when you put pressure on it. You need to keep it on top of the arm, possibly with another tie in the second hole (maybe a lighter tie. Good luck and happy skiing.
Yes, you are right. After I shot the video I noticed that myself and have fixed it! I don't actually use an anchor much myself but carry it for safety reasons. But I use dual cable ties because I have busted a single one quite easily when in choppy water. The skis are quite heavy and have a lot of drag.
1" chain normally, but just gauge the weight vs the anchor weight. You want the chain to keep the anchor horizontal until it bites in. I don't know if there is much science to it though. Thanks for watching!
Ohh ok I see. The carabiner I already have has a closed loop hole on one end making it permanent. Sounds like it’ll be easier just grabbing a new one I think. Thanks mate
Break the rear cable tie by yanking hard! Then the rope pulls the anchor from the head. If it’s still stuck it’s stuck! You’ll have to leave it I guess. But that’s not happened to me. Came close once as I put too heavy a cable tie on the rear point! Eventually it broke and came up but had a hunk of rock also wedged on the top of the anchor!
Gotta applaud your ingenuity! Money is money I guess but I find that I have very limited time on the water so I try to get what’s required to do the job and waste as little time as possible. I have worked out the missed opportunities that can occur are more costly than saving a few bucks!;) The bloody cost of fuel currently blows any savings I get elsewhere anyway! 😂
Just like to mention to turn engine off when dropping rope over the side as the inlet can suck it up real quick and wrap around drive shaft. Not fun. Had to be towed.
Great effort Jetcast . Some great ideas in there , thanks for inspiring me .
cheers Paul. Glad it might help you.
Thanks for the tips, I’m going to give this a go tomorrow 👍🏻
Thanks for watching. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your anchor tips - very helpful. The tether also makes docking quick and simple.
No worries!
All your tips based on your experience is appreciated 🙂
Thanks!
Was literally trying to solve this problem yesterday, thanks for the breakdown of your system!
No worries! Glad it helped.

Thanks, those were some awesome tips, especially how you tie up to the anchor.
Thanks Wade, glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.
Yep, this is helpful. Thanks for sharing this.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, thanks for the shout out!
No problems. Feel free to use on your website if need be!
Great video mate, i was struggling with how to manage this!
No worries!
Thank you
You're welcome
thanks for the teach
No worries. Please come back to the Channel!
Thanks, great vid. What would you recommend for anchoring if reef fishing?

Hi. Can you please tell me where you got the panier on the side of your ski in this video?
Hi Craig, they’re called Tubbies and supplied and fitted by Shoreline Jetskis in Australia.
This is fucking genius mate, Love the idea with the tether, definitely implementing this on my Ski.

You mention you selling the bunny anchor rope, where are you, and how do I contact you please? I am on the Gold Coast. Thanks for the vid!

Thanx Dude, But.... What size chain if only 1m - 1.5m ?

flat coil is a good idea thanks
Cheers! Thanks for watching.
Do you find that the carabiner on the tether flaps around and scratches the hood at all?
Hi Jack, just store the carabiner in your glove box until you need it. It isn’t permanently attached, so simple enough just to hook on when required.
Ohh ok I see. The carabiner I already have has a closed loop hole on one end making it permanent. Sounds like it’ll be easier just grabbing a new one I think. Thanks mate
The anchor /dock tethers I sell now come with a 10cm stainless carabiner that is removable. Thanks for watching.
You retrieve your plastic anchor? I thought they were disposable!
Disposable? Never heard of that plus would be hugely irresponsible for the environment.
How do you get it up if its stuck on the bottom?
Break the rear cable tie by yanking hard! Then the rope pulls the anchor from the head. If it’s still stuck it’s stuck! You’ll have to leave it I guess. But that’s not happened to me. Came close once as I put too heavy a cable tie on the rear point! Eventually it broke and came up but had a hunk of rock also wedged on the top of the anchor!
I tried to save money by using a 30 kilo anvil as an anchor. Works well, except it's a bugger to hoist back up.

Yes, absolutely! Thanks.
if I'm anchoring up in lets say 20-25m of water...I'd put about 30m out...just saying but works fine....
Are you fishing in a lake! It’s very unlikely I could hold my 300kg ski in any sort of current around here with a sand bottom to hold it.
