Great video, gives a good idea of what the experience is like. Wow those views are amazing! I’d forgotten how beautiful snowdonia is. You were lucky to have such fine weather even if too warm. Sorry about your bad experiences with the shambolic organisation, that’s very disappointing.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I think sadly I'm done with UTMB, so I won't be returning until they can demonstrate they've thought things through more from a runners rather than financial perspective.
Enjoyed the video. I’m doing it this year, have run a few routes up there for training and found it okay, but it’s cold - can’t imagine doing well in that heat
Great effort by you, be proud of that in that heat also managing to film, I pulled plug at 33km, I was done for and there being no water at check point 2! Queues waiting for empty coke bottles from farmer, filled with water to be tractored in! Too many people in that race, year before was so good, this year so bad, felt like not nearly enough spent on providing well stocked stations. I went back last Friday, did an unsupported effort of the same course, carried all my own fruit, snacks and water and did it in 12 hours in rain and wind, so different, enjoyed it so much more... Recommend it to banish any ghosts and enjoy that terrain without the queues and crowds!
thanks! even though it's a while back, it's great to get these words of reassurance that I wasn't alone! PS - have you received the race director's report yet?
Thanks for posting and enjoyed the video. I did the 25km and suffered under that heat - scraped in 2 mins under the cut off. But this year I'm attempting the 55km - surely it can't be that hot again?! Hopefully UTMB has sorted out the aid station issues for those of us bring up the back of the pack!! Are you having another go this year?
You're most welcome. I'd be most surprised if it was that hot again. I'm not attempting it again this year. I need to be assured that lessons have been learned from last year before I'd consider it (and I would if they have). Unfortunately there was no race directors' report (as I understand he is no longer involved), so I genuinely hope it goes well and I can consider it again. This year, I'm trying some different events, so keeping myself busy :) Best of luck to you and would love to hear back as to how it goes/went!
I know what you mean about the aid stations.. but they were a different experience by the minute… first station loads of water, but very scarce on food, and the only food they had when I was there, I was told I wasn’t allowed.. I assume for the 100k and 100miles.. I was banking on a banana for a boosted.. but couldn’t get one. I’ve heard others say it was fine. Then the second aid station was struggling to get water ready… the poor volunteers were running ragged trying to move water from a massive water bowser to a couple of water coolers to serve us all.. food was full.. I sat outside of this one to charge my watch get some calories in.. and when I walked through to the toilets and back to leave the place was stripped.. I timed out at aid station 3 as well u fortunately.. if I hadn’t stopped at cp2 so long and kept moving.. I’d have made cp3 with 5 minutes to spare.. so annoying. It was a tough day.. signed up for next year already to put things right.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It’s almost exactly the same as me. I made CP3 with 90 seconds to spare but decided my chances of making the finish in time were too remote by that stage. I haven’t seen the race director’s report yet, but it will be interesting to see what they’ve taken away from this year’s event. Hopefully enough to make your experience next year the right one!!

Thanks Alex. Really appreciate it.
Great video, Onwards and Upwards.
thanks! That's the only direction, right? :)
@@thelaidbackrunner definitely, you’re an inspiration
Really well done though, and thoroughly enjoyed the video.
thanks so much. really appreciate it!! I'll be posting some new events in the coming months, as they actually take place :)
Well done in harsh conditions.
Well done! Hopefully giving it a go again this year! Thanks for sharing your experience

@@thelaidbackrunner i understand. Very sad affairs...

thanks so much :) hope you have a fantastic time. At least the heat was somewhat freakish, so that's unlikely to recur.
good effort! sorry about your experience with utmb. love your choice of music!
Thank you!! I liked selecting the music 🙂

Great effort in those conditions. Well done.
Thanks! Appreciate it. It was a mission all right!!
Good video. I did 25k. Have you got your eye on a Summer race?
Thanks very much - I appreciate it! And well done to you! I'm doing Race to the Stones 100km in July, which I'm looking forward to immensely!
@@thelaidbackrunner yes that’s a good run
