Just installed this (and two Noctua 120mm fans) on an Asus Turbo GTX 970. Temperature plummeted from 80°C to 50°C running balls to the wall at 100%. Can't hear it running. Amazing.

I just picked up a Morpheus II. I've spent some time dry fitting the fan braces to the cooler. Most might think that the brackets snap into place, when if fact they don't. They don't require a great amount of force to get into place, and it can be tricky trying to get them all situated correctly. Just take your time.
Man, thanks Matt SR for loading this video last year. I didn't install my Morph 2 for 2 yrs. Waited for warrantee to expire. Installed a pair of BeQuiet 120mm fans. I should've done this sooner. I've hit 1770fps+ still under 65c. My safe & staple game settings are somewhere around 1710+fps, 1115+ mHz mem, 37+ Core mV, 50+ PwrL, 85c tempL and fan speed is @90%. Keeps the temp limit under 45c. I like that.
Yeah, I humored that I lost my best tubes of Artic MX mud so I used the thermo mud that came with the Morpheus 2. Heh. It's surprisingly good. My new staple is now +37 mV, pwr, 50% pwr Lt, 85c temp limit, 1735 MHz on fps, 1190MHz on mem, 95% fans. It's stays amazingly cool. I game around 39c. I'm sure I can get close to 1800 MHz if I tax it. Thanks, again, Matt.
@@MattStephensRich Ok, so I tried about 1 hour to put the Morpheus 8057 on my PNY 2060 Super (2060S is listed as compatible), but without success. The mounting holes to fix the backplate on the brackets are off by about 1mm, so I guess PNY uses a very custom build for their blower cards. Raijintek should exclude the PNY cards from their list to prevent people buying the cooler for this model. Luckily I managed to remount the original fans. Guess I'm stuck with my jet engine blower for some time now :(
nice video i just bought one for my holy shit thats loud PNY 2080ti blower edition in my tinkering/overclocking machine and this helped a great deal. i found a pretty good mounting position using the smaller brackets and putting them in the fan holes that are right up against the radiator but your way seems better since you pointed out that notch. it took me a while too before i figured something out. i was just starting to think im about to throw this thing out the window lol thanks
As people before me said - incredible and well filmed instructions, very brief, as I would like all such vids to be. At 14:39 you said that this piece is for adapting to fan power, is it necessary to use it, or can i just go ahead and plug 2 of my fans in seen card slot?
Glad you liked it! Depending on your card, you could indeed plug directly in. Some fan connectors still need an adapter to get it over to a usual PWM connection.

@@MattStephensRich better safe then sorry. I have had it where there was a hard dried bit in the middle and it kept my CPU cooler from doing a full spread. Stuff happens especially when you least expect it.
Even Steve at GamersNexus agrees prespread is the best for having the least amount of paste possible well also having full coverage. Too much past can hurt thermals.

You can just trust it works! 😉 in all seriousness it has been running very well, I’ve had the graphics card running fullbore calculations for folding@home Covid project, and it never breaks the 75 degree mark with fans at minimum setting. Still working through some over clicking work to see how much headroom is open, but temps have been markedly improved, with a very hard ceiling at mid-70s.
TDP is the comparison you’re looking for: Morpheus has 360 rated TDP and Accelero has 300. That being said, both coolers have massive fin stack; I’d gladly use either!
Indeed you can use rgb fans; but double check them can take their power from the same fan pin, or need an additional outside power source. For improving the mod, I’d recommend using high powered static fans (like these Noctuas), using thermal cement for the smaller heat sink pieces (the double sided tape ended up coming off after a few days), and indeed doing a mod on the backplate to fit the new bracket. I am thinking of double a part 2 video, for missing the backplate, and dialing in an overclock on the card.
Hey, nice upgrade w/ the Morpheus II! Would it be possible to keep your own backplate when doing this mod or is it mandatory to utilize the backplate they include? I was planning to use this on my 1080 gaming X and wanted to keep that backplate, but if not it's fine.
Worth seeing if the backplate will fit. For instance, on the Raijintek upgrade I did, the stock backplate wouldn’t fit. Can easily Dremel or file to fit!

In addition one should put thermal pads on some critical of the chipsets to ensure they have contact with the backplate to give/spend some heat to it. I used the Morpheus II "Core Edition" on this build. The short answer is they are the same design cooler, with the spec difference coming down to VRM coolers and other add-on components. (as far as we've been able to tell; Raijintek changes the accessory components often). They even use the same marketing material for each. I would ultimately recommend buying whatever is available/at cheapest price.
What could be the problem if the fans don't spin when connected with a y splitter and a VGA PWM Adapter to the 4 pin gpu fan slot. But they work when they are connected to the motherboard.
Two quick thoughts: 1. Double check the pins within the adapter array are all ok/not damaged, so that power is transferred OK through the chain. 2. Connect the original fan to the GPU 4 pin to make sure the 4-pin slot itself is not damaged. If the original fan still works, it could be a faulty adapter.
@@MattStephensRich All the pins seem to be fine. I also connected the old gpu fans to the gpu and they work. Guess it something wrong with the adapter. I read somewhere that the gpu might not give enough power to the new fans or that they are just not compatible.
Most all fans run at the same voltage, unless you’re using some super weird skew. Could also be worth trying a different set of fan, even if as quick diagnostic.
Biggest priority is to have clean mating surfaces, hence the precaution and wipedowns/buffing of anything in touch with a heatsink. If you're critiquing lint that was on the card board itself, that isn't going to be an issue - again, focus is on good mating contact with coolers. PCs are dirty places already!

It's a Fractal Design Define S Case. I originally bought it for a larger, regular ATX board, but have kept it through the years, even though I do not need all the real estate. Very quiet, and good, minimalist quality (even without some of the newer aesthetic touches like PSU shroud). Since it's a previous gen case, could probably find one around eBay used!
Why dont you show how to connect fans into GPU pwms? I would like to see it, i have now installed this on EVGA GTX 1080, but it runs always (even at BIOS) at 100% (2000 RPM) and it cannot be controlled even in EVGA Precission Extra app.
Hmmm, the connection was straight forward, plugging everything in. Might try re-plugging in time make sure the connection is good? Also could try another overclocking software like afterburner to see if you have any fan control.
@@MattStephensRich Thanks Matt, i had to reconnect it to MB and order second GPU->PWM convertor for Noctua, as last option it seams GPU SW knows i connected just one connector with Y-cable and it thinks there is just one fan running. I am sorry i made support from your channel, but i was frustrated, there is no solution for my problem on internet :-)
@@MattStephensRich Ok, now i connected both fans each to its particular connector on GPU and it works flawlessly. When i used just one connector with y-cable it probably "thinked" that just one fan is running, so it probably switched into some emergency mod with 100% fans.

Glad to hear it! I’ve been dialing in this card for cryptomining actually; never exceeds 75C at full regular load. (Have dialed in more power efficiency/crypto bios design to push temps even further down to ~70 with 1100 clock speed)
After temps held in the solid upper 60s - I was ultimately able to push clock speeds up to 1.5 Ghz, with massive power draw however. Ultimately ended up bringing overclock down, and undervolting a smidge.
@@XX-121 I mean compared to the upper 70s I was getting before hand, especially as sustained clock speeds, definitely gave a 15-20% boost. Ultimately if you're looking for more performance - look to buy a new card. :)
No sure I follow? Case fans are held in with screws, and the CPU fan is held to the CPU heatsink via a bracket that came with the heatsink if that's what you're referring to?

Depending on your card, the VRM heatsinks may not be compatible. I'd recommend sticking with the smaller guys instead, so you can be sure there's a good fit.

Yup! This one would fit - I have a similar video of the Arctic Accelero, which I installed on a 980 of the same card design as the 960. Either would be a great option!
The instruction set with my copy of the cooler called for these sized washers - I am hearing reports Raijintek have a number of versions of instructions going out depending on the manufacturer? Obviously double check the spec of your GPU, and match the installation instructions accordingly.
Yes... and like I said, my copy of instructions was a different version at the time - notice I don’t even have a variety of the heat sinks featured in that version of the instructions. 🤷🏼♂️

If you’ve built your own computer, you should be able to handle the cooler swap just fine. The biggest benefit is definitely lower noise coming from the graphics card, in addition to higher overclocking overhead thanks to added cooling capacity.
@@DrZmesky FWIW, there is a bracket set for smaller height fans, so you could go with a slim fit option too. Depending on your case scenario, it might be worth seeing if stock works first before worrying about the cooler upgrade - it definitely has some heft!
astute observation! Reason behind this - the PC case doesn't have enough clearance from the carpet to get air in through the bottom - the power supply is pulling air from within the case as that gives it a better breath path. :)
Yeah! I’ve been still working out some overclocking with the card now that the cooler is on. Wanted to get the video out rather than wait for some of those results and returns, but might try a follow up video covering temps, and also some overclocking I’ve been doing as part of the folding@home Covid research effort. Turns out folding is a great way to test graphics card temps!
If you’re insinuating the thermal paste as an adhesive, it technically isn’t as it’s not binding the cooler and graphics card together. That’s why we saw do use screws 😊

Yup, more than enough voltage for delivery. Ultimately you could power a number of fans off the same connection; there is a lot of power overhead.

You can control fan speed with a 2pin fan if you Desire 3pin is rpm sensor and 4pin is is temp censor
True, but you'd need a card that can control based on a 2 pin - having the full pin array gives you best control, hence the recommendation.

Can thinner 15mm fans also be mounted to the heatsink using those brackets?
Most likely - as long as the fan is the same width (or at least not thicker) so it can still secure to the cooler.

Your reassembying this gpu in dirty conditions (lint is on the gpu) that will cause malfunctioning of the gpu in regards of static buildup.

I've heard the MSI 1050 Aero series have 58mm mounting holes and you can use this cooler on them, anyone tried?

@@MattStephensRich Thanks Matt, i had to reconnect it to MB and order second GPU->PWM convertor for Noctua, as last option it seams GPU SW knows i connected just one connector with Y-cable and it thinks there is just one fan running.
I am sorry i made support from your channel, but i was frustrated, there is no solution for my problem on internet :-)
@@MattStephensRich Ok, now i connected both fans each to its particular connector on GPU and it works flawlessly. When i used just one connector with y-cable it probably "thinked" that just one fan is running, so it probably switched into some emergency mod with 100% fans.

25mm on these fans (about an inch). Kit comes with two sets of brackets, one for slimmer fans and one for the standard 25mm.

took two attempts as hotspot 105c on first crash.
second one worked, not seeing above 83c and core is like 60c gaming.

Glad to hear it! I’ve been dialing in this card for cryptomining actually; never exceeds 75C at full regular load. (Have dialed in more power efficiency/crypto bios design to push temps even further down to ~70 with 1100 clock speed)

After temps held in the solid upper 60s - I was ultimately able to push clock speeds up to 1.5 Ghz, with massive power draw however. Ultimately ended up bringing overclock down, and undervolting a smidge.

@@XX-121 I mean compared to the upper 70s I was getting before hand, especially as sustained clock speeds, definitely gave a 15-20% boost. Ultimately if you're looking for more performance - look to buy a new card. :)

No sure I follow? Case fans are held in with screws, and the CPU fan is held to the CPU heatsink via a bracket that came with the heatsink if that's what you're referring to?

Is the vrm heatsink even compatible? There are no holes where the screws would go.
Depending on your card, the VRM heatsinks may not be compatible. I'd recommend sticking with the smaller guys instead, so you can be sure there's a good fit.
@@MattStephensRich are the mosfet heatsinks the only ones worth placing? I placed all the heatsinks according to the manual but if I place heatsinks on the chokes my Vega doesn't respond nicely haha
@@Voyex Essentially yes, mosfets will produce some of the most heat. VRAM, for instance, rarely needs heatsink/added cooling.

Yup! This one would fit - I have a similar video of the Arctic Accelero, which I installed on a 980 of the same card design as the 960. Either would be a great option!

I am curious why you used the mylar washers as the instructions say they are for Hawaii GPUs?
The instruction set with my copy of the cooler called for these sized washers - I am hearing reports Raijintek have a number of versions of instructions going out depending on the manufacturer? Obviously double check the spec of your GPU, and match the installation instructions accordingly.

Yes... and like I said, my copy of instructions was a different version at the time - notice I don’t even have a variety of the heat sinks featured in that version of the instructions. 🤷🏼♂️

The improved cooler has helped lead to a 15% improvement on overclocks thus far. :)

Do you mean the power connection for the card? Indeed that connection is usually on the outer facing portion of the graphics card.

Ah gotcha. Since the PC tower sits on a thicker pile carpet, I have the intake faced up to get proper airflow. 🙂

Sorry I didn’t have the chance to capture those for the video. Ultimately, temps held in the mid 60s on max 1080p settings. This cooler can basically manage any thermal load you’ll ever throw at it.

I was wandering if it was worth or not, I mean my gpu is brand new, but it has a blowe cooling system (2060 manli) so when I'm gaming it often reach 76° and I know that it ain't bad
And I love change stuff in my rig by my own
My question is, should I do that? If its not that hard I totally wanna do that even if it's not necessary... till now I builted by my own my whole pc and couple days ago I added an artic duo without destroying anything

If you’ve built your own computer, you should be able to handle the cooler swap just fine. The biggest benefit is definitely lower noise coming from the graphics card, in addition to higher overclocking overhead thanks to added cooling capacity.

@@DrZmesky FWIW, there is a bracket set for smaller height fans, so you could go with a slim fit option too. Depending on your case scenario, it might be worth seeing if stock works first before worrying about the cooler upgrade - it definitely has some heft!

astute observation! Reason behind this - the PC case doesn't have enough clearance from the carpet to get air in through the bottom - the power supply is pulling air from within the case as that gives it a better breath path. :)

Yes! Temps would regularly exceed 75C under heavier loads - have the added cooling keeps temps in the 62-64C range. 😊

Yeah! I’ve been still working out some overclocking with the card now that the cooler is on. Wanted to get the video out rather than wait for some of those results and returns, but might try a follow up video covering temps, and also some overclocking I’ve been doing as part of the folding@home Covid research effort. Turns out folding is a great way to test graphics card temps!

If you’re insinuating the thermal paste as an adhesive, it technically isn’t as it’s not binding the cooler and graphics card together. That’s why we saw do use screws 😊
