I feel like this is a very subtle roast of Jane Austen...
No, not Jane Austen! This is exactly the sort of melodrama she would scorn. But it IS a roast of all the historical dramas watched by people who probably also love Jane Austen, but are so eager for something that smacks of the olden days that they'll devour any show with sufficient amounts of carriages, costumes, and dances, regardless of what drivel the story is. Jane Austen Wannabe shows.
Plus it gives Jane Austen a good smack down too.

Attic Wit That's not hate at all. It's constructive criticism. Sadly, for me at least when I leave constructive criticisms people think it's hate or I'm just being negative. Only a few people realize it's constructive criticism and we leave it because we care and want the show to be better. At least we know Jason knows the difference and appreciates the honesty from his fans.
I feel like Studio C pulls this kind of stunt a lot (maybe it is just their style) but I would like it to be a little more 'clever' if you know what I mean.

Yes I completely agree. To be honest their sketches now aren't really that funny... I didn't even smile with this one which is honestly so sad because I love them so much. There's something special when they do it in front of a live audience

Jason said season 8 won’t have a live audience, so hopefully they will return in season 9
