The positioning of the eye on the side view helped remind me about thinking in space. I was thinking he’d add it closer to the edge but then realised of course it’s recessed. Little reminders like that make a huge difference to inventive design. Though obviously using reference helps remind you to.
Thank you this is very helpful but my heads look strange compared to your demo despite several attempts and slowing the video down so I can follow at my own pace, is there guidance on how wide the chin should be as so many planes seem to depend on this? Also I thought that the eyes sit in their own inward plane (gabella) so should this not be illustrated? I’m very grateful for any guidance you can provide. 🙏
OMG thank you, this is awesome! I've spend whole weekend watching lessons and tutorials trying to grasp pieces of knowledge...this is by far the best explanation I've came across. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
This is absolutely a revelation to me! Extremely helpful. The transition from the frontal view to the side view is explained extremely well. Thank you.
Wow your tutorial blow my mind I mean...i was very confuse with the proportions of the nose and ears thank you so much for the tutorial i'm going to practice with this
This is outstanding, one of the best tutorials to map out the front planes of the head, beautifully explained where everything makes sense. Will watch this every day for the next week to get comfortable with all the nuances. Thank you so much! And thank you to Zin Lim!
Looks like I also go through the same sort of thing with the ear. The height is right on point, it's the width difference from the side plane that seems identical to the front view. It is challenging to master this from various point of views with all the different foldings and ridges it has.
Best video I’ve seen, explaining proportions and planes of the head. I’ll watch repeatedly to absorb all this information. Great foundation to then customize for unique faces. Thanks for your generous lesson! I feel like I have a road map for a very complex journey.
I’m going to challenge my self to drill the 5x daily for the next week. This is great, I’m going to save this as exercise to go with the handy drawing app. Thanks for the lesson!
Hi! Honestly, this is the first of your videos that I have watched. Personally, this is what I actually needed to watch. Realizing plenty of things and have my inspirations in drawing back to life. And I want to thank you for if it wasn't for this video I might not be able to remember that doing a sketch on an piece of paper and just making yourself grow, getting loose, and remembering mistakes while actually enjoying is the best way to learn. Rather than doing a lot of artwork with pressure and struggle. Love lots!
Well I sure know what I’m going to be doing tomorrow once I get a chance to pick up my pencils. Many thanks, I usually sketch the outer of the head I’m drawing then fit everything in but this seems to definitely show the areas for contrasts better. 🙏🏼
There is a website platform called Sketchfab where people sell 3D assets. And the best thing for artists is that on the browser itself you can preview them so they become an easy reference for artists. And since you are just previewing, it’s free and no need even sign up.
Spent so much money on lessons this is by far the best tutorial
