Gracias. Maestro Fabio Biondi y a toda Europa Galante.

isn't it absolute power of Corelli that all orchestras on Earth have performed his concerto grossi?

For someone like Corelli, who used to direct his concerti grossi with more than 100 instruments, having just 7 might have seemed unusual....indeed.

Corelli’s orchestra in Rome was certainly larger than many today realise, and you’re right to point this out; we know this from payment accounts for the players, and from reports from visitors like Georg Muffat and Giovanni Mario Crescimbeni who recorded their experiences.
My understanding was that the norm was 30 to 40 players, rising to 70 to 80 for special occasions; it is even alleged that it reached 150 by one account.
These concerti grossi were popular all over Europe and were still being published and played in England for example right up to the end of the 18th century where they sat alongside the equally popular Handel works; they have stood the test of time and are performed regularly today to the delight of both musicians and listeners, indeed parts of Opus 6 No 8 have made it into the soundtrack of the film Master and Commander.
