Love lukey asking the questions fans want to hear. “Peeling the onion back further” led you guys into telling some great insight of differences in coaching
love you guys more of an AFL fan because i’m from WA but you guys are definitely making more of a nrl fan with every pod. Sure get you boys over to WA for the double header??
RCG has been huge for the Titans. I’ve watched a few training sessions, and his leadership stands out - constantly vocal, setting the standard with his intensity, and making sure the boys stay switched on. His impact goes beyond his own game, he brings a presence that lifts the entire pack.
Hearing mase talk about player clauses was so refreshing haha. I feel like I needed to hear that as a fan. Love hearing your input and honestly gives the fans something new, honest and informative. Not media fuelled with agenda. Love it lads - hopefully see you out on the course soon scope
that chat around lukeys eels beating mase and the dogs back in the day that’s the best thing about this new media in particular this pod best banter boys i’m a kuzzy from day 1 big year ahead lessssgooo da kuzzy usos
Legendary show boys. L1 since day 1. This show brought my passion back to league. As a kiwi there's not much content here besides from a warriors perspective. I love how you show love to every team.
One of the main things that hasn't been mentioned in relation to most of these player options, is that they mainly occur in 2027 when the new broadcasting deal comes into effect, and likely the 18th team. Agents would be aware that there would be a big cap increase due to the TV rights going up with 9 games a week instead of 8. Even outside of player options, most of the big name players have contracts ending in 2027, so this would have been a strategic move by agents knowing that there is a bigger slice of the pie coming in the form of both a cap rise AND an additional team.
Respectfully I think Kikau was incredible at Panthers with very big moments. Impressive charge downs, short kicking game sparingly and was a star player. He did have issues with gas tank and some errors but I didnt see him get back to this person til late last year. Atleast from my memory
Just want to say, tough gig for Luckie being stuck between two great players, but his inputs are always very valuable and I think he is a great addition to the team
I think one of the things that benefits the chooks here is the fact they have Townsend on board. In terms of Brown there would be an argument that his game management could be better. So not only are they a blue chip club, they have the experience to help him better his game and maybe take him to that next level, they have the coach they have the board and they have uncle Nick. Parra have a serious problem on their hands here.
Western Sydney is Australia's 3rd largest economy. I'm not sure how they define Western Sydney in terms of boundaries but as a proud westie (northwest, close to Parra) I can tell you, its pumping. Beautiful communities and is a nursery / baby factory building up the next generations of great Australians. Sports - tick, great multicultural food scene - tick, communities working together to make it a great part of Australia - tick, Western Sydney Airport and how that will drive more development and jobs - massive tick. West is best! Love all the clubs you are covering but have to say....Go the Eels.! Back in the late 70's Arthur Beatson bought my brother and I a pie and chips at Cumberland Oval....Ill never forget it.
Loving it guys. Can't wait for the chat around the dolphins. One thing I have been thinking about as a strength of ours is our different possible halves combos to switch it up according to who we are playing. Nikorima and katoa are the starting halves, but O'Sullivan and averillo can get in there too and do a job. Last year Wayne switched it up to great success at the end of the year. Wondering if we might get this happening more often to keep opposing teams guessing. Phins up.
Questions for both of you as you’ve played in Super League - why do you think it’s common that NRL players move to the Super League and struggle with injury? With news that Maika Sivo is out for the whole 2025 season, David fusitua played less than 30 games over his 3 seasons and many more examples. Always baffling as I thought rehab/prehab would be similar in both countries
Great podcast guys! I have the Tigers as my big improvers this season and I think while Luai is a huge part of that, they did get rid of two players in bateman and Papalii who, for what ever reasons did not want to be there. May is an 80 minute player so he can start in the middle, and when Klemmer or Twal come on he can move to the right edge. Also most successful clubs have five or six players who run the team, while the other players are just there to do their job. The Tigers have been lacking that, but they now have Luai, Koroisau, Galvin, Bulla, May and I will throw Doueihi in there. If he can have a full season, then guys like Hunt, Bird, Olam and Pole can fill the gaps they have had. Not saying they will win the comp, but a flutter to make the eight is not a silly bet. They also have a good start to the schedule where they play Newcastle and Parra twice in the first eight weeks.
"Canterbury are not afraid of anyone" - love that comment. They beat Melbourne in Melbourne last year and just lost by 4 at Penrith with them at full strength. They should have beaten Manly in the semi. Top 2 if Burto and Toby fire, and with more yardage up front surely coming with bigger middles in 2025 that should happen, especially with Roosters and Penrith on the decline.
Power to the player is good for the players and the game overall, I think. Fans will adapt to it but I can see the ‘new fan’ or casual following a player as opposed to teams in the near future. Not every fan but will be more common than you think especially with the comp heading into 20 teams.
Love the divisions thought. What do you think of two nine team conferences when the comp goes to 18 teams. Play everyone once and your conference twice making 25 games, couple of split rounds is a 27 round season same as now. Playing your conference again stops the randomness of the draw and who plays and doesnt play who and adds to rivalries. You get two shots at your conference opponents eg qld darbys but then the one off games you want to win cause you wont see them til finals or the next season. Top 2 from each conference make up top 4 and then next 4 highest on the combined ladder make up wild card spots for finals so years with a stronger conference teams could mean a stronger wild card team than a conference winner adding even more drama to the story line. Then when nrl add more teams add 2 to go to 20 and make four five team divs and do a similar thing. Love the show keep up the good work
Gus Gould talked about the Jersey Flegg team voacjed by Josh Jackson, which is creating a level of Player that will have alot of NRL grade players. Preston Campbell is a prime example coming out from under Josh Jackson.
Anyone else taking a weekly trip to the driving range to hit a bucket of golf balls on the off chance the brain can somehow get lucky with the top comment and the call up to the golf day happens?? Yes sir 🙋♂️🤣🤣
Hay Lads, it’s great to hear you back in my ears. In reference to interviewing special guests, I think keep it to just 2 or 3 per year of someone phenomenal like PG. I’m thinking the likes of Meninga, Bennett, Bellamy, Ivan Cleary… you know, your Mt Rushmore selection. And have them on at those special times of the year. How good would it be to have say a previous origin coach on in the lead up to origin…? Ivan as we head into finals… how good. And as a kicker, announce the guest to the listeners in the lead up so we can put up some questions via RUclips for you to ask them. Love ya work
Scope and OG. L1 day 1, but first time commenting. Thanks for making my commute to work just that little bit easier My comment is around the Titian's fullback position. I am a Titian's fan and every pre season it seems like the noise out of the club is about how we need to fix our defence. Yet when it comes to the fullback (arguably one of the most important positions when it comes to defence) we seem to throw it out the window. I love JC and Kini but Brimmo is clearly the best in our team when it comes to defence. He is clearly the best at communicating and is a much better 1 on 1 defender, as was evident in the games he has played there over the 2 years. He is a prime example of a fullback who can stop as many tries as he can score. I have been saying it for 3 years, but I feel like that giving AJ the fullback position will be the first real sign that the Titans are taking defence seriously
I really like divisions idea to bring more rivalries! My 4 divisions would be Outer Sydney Div: Panthers, Eels, Bulldogs, Tigers. Inner Sydney Div: Roosters, Rabbitohs, Sharks, Dragons. QLD Div: Broncos, Cowboys, Dolphins, Titans. Greater Div: Storm, Sea Eagles, Knights, Raiders and Warriors. I put Manly in the Greater Div with their rivalry with Storm.
Hi guys love the poddy L1 from day 1. One of my best mates is getting married late this year and is a big fan as well as a mad golfer. Wondering if there is a chance of any civilians getting a call up for next years Levels golf day would be an awesome wedding gift to be able to get for him. Cheers boys
Here’s one for you. TONY JONES went to Cambridge Park High School. He’s a Penrith boy. You’d think he’d know better. That’s not how we are from Penrith. We would have been on Djokovic’s side and are.
What was the biggest hurdle/adversity or challenge you faced in your career or life and how or what helped you overcome it. This younger generation cops a lot of flack for not being resilient or mentally tough and a question like this may provide insight into times when we or others doubt us or the cards seem stacked against us yet we somehow find ways to persevere and overcome them and this can sometimes be very definitive moments in our life. Keep kicking goals fellas , awesome content. Honest , raw, real and still top of the game
The Leftovers Scope! For shame! Call it the Distance Division, the teams that put in the KMs for the comp every year, can't wake up in your own bed and play an "away" game across town.
Fkn poddy ‼️‼️‼️ missed the yarns over the holiday periods. Levels network is just refreshing compared to everyone else, I love you guys and James Graham just cos Jimmy’s passionate too. Besides all the footy talk etc etc, in terms of a poddy / interview setting, Scope’s delivery man he strings topics and sentences together so well and Willie og comes with his rawness it’s fkn 1+1=2 😂 Keen for the next poddy / episode on the Brisbane division. Keep it coming usos ! 🇼🇸🇦🇺 Payne & Tino if youse are reading this pledge to Samoan bra’s 😂
Hey boys. Your best ability is Availability. 2022 cows, 2023 warriors and Broncos all had great seasons with next to no injuries. In all 3 cases the following seasons were ruined with injuries and they all missed the finals.
I’m a Penrith fan 56 have been since Terry Wickey halfback , Kevin Dan fullback. 49 years. The NRL sides have raided us for 5 years. Second tier players as well. Plus injuries, international footy, state of origin. And our assistant coaches. EDIT We still won 🏆 4 in a row. Cry me a river about any other side.
Boys, L1 from D1. Refound my respect for Big Willie and loving the Kiwi boy for lighting up the RL Podcast world Scope❤️ keep up the good work fellas Look I’m punching 50yo. Watch league since I had material nappies! Loving where the game is despite being a Tigers tragic. My comment is this; one of the better performing teams in the last 4 years against Penrith has been Parra with their second phase off load game - from big junior, RCG, or Papalii and marata etc etc even pensini giving it late. They can’t handle the chaos. Why don’t other teams do this? They try to get in the grind which is exactly what Ivan wants. It shit me to tears (not a storm fan at all) but they tried to go toe to toe in the grind in GF with one of the biggest chaos merchants in Grant and Munster in their back pocket. They need stefano to get an off load game The end Kiwi Mitch
Hey fellas, on Nathan Cleary making it through a full season. I'm no hater, I think he's on track for modern GOAT status - however he has switched to the carnivore diet. I know he's one of the most professional athletes around, but I'm seriously worried about him developing nutrient deficiencies. I think we might see a bit of a blip for him this year and I wouldn't chalk it up to Jarome leaving.
Hey boys how much impact is the cowboys loosing Reece robbinson? I feel like it hasn't been talked about much but is a huge loss for the cows. Love your work and how much you have grown in 3 years, keep it up and looking forward to the season and all of the triple OGs hard hitting comments
With clauses nearly every single club in the NRL has them. Only three clubs in the entirety of the comp dont have them with the Bulldogs being one. Not all clubs have them equally tho a lot of the top clubs have clauses but theyre either in the clubs favour or in interest of both the player and club. Example of this is Melbourne & Faalongo has a clause where if Pap stays long term he can leave the club its the same with their young half back if they resign Jarome Hughes he can look for another club. I'll find out who the other two clubs are and add an edit 👍
I hope we don't lose Dyl but if he decides that's what's best for him all the power to him. If my mate wanted to go to an opposition company for a better pay check or just for a seachange id celebrate them but we let our tribalism cloud the fact these guys are human too
As an American living 50 miles west of Chicago, I am obviously a LOCK for comment of the year. Named after the greatest Green Bay QB of all time, for a start. Anyway, I really think that the NRL is missing a trick by thinking that they can grow the game in the US by going to Las Vegas. Are they taking the piss? Why are they not coming right where I am? A mere stone's throw from here - but, being a lazy American, I would only ever drive - is Goebbert's Farm in lovely Pingree Grove, Illinois. Why not do a preseason here? Sure, it will be about -10 degrees, but who won't be thankful for THAT training experience come June in Canberra? Also, right after the pumpkin fest and light show around Halloween, I reckon that we could EASILY accommodate seating for upwards of 200 rugby league tragics in the parking lot to show the NRL world what a season opener should REALLY be like. Indeed, can you walk 200 feet from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and go pick fresh serrano chile peppers? I think not. Here in Pingree Grove, however? It's a piece of piss. I know, I know. You could never have expected such forward-thinking commentary from your RUclips community, but that's the beauty of having a global platform: it allows geniuses like me to help marginal talents like you drive rugby league forward into the 21st Century. If there's anything else I can help with, just let me know. Otherwise, keep up the good work and just send me a cool NQL sweatshirt in lieu of the golf tournament and we can call it even. (No hidden get-out clauses in THIS contract!) Love you, lads, and keep up the good work! 🙂
Question for Wiremu… How can you can declare Isaiah Iongi as “just a kid” in relation to being a weakness in Parra’s backline. He is highly touted, got player of the year in Jersey Flegg in a premiership winning season in, fullback of the year in NSW Cup and made an impressive NRL debut last year in his only first grade game, recording 257 running metres and eight tackle busts from fullback. Yet when it comes to Blaize Talagi(who made countless handling and defensive errors last year), you compare him JARRYD HAYNE no less! I’m not just a salty Parra fan, I honestly believe that Parra have acquired the better young gun. I love Gutho and I personally think Iongi’s got bigger boots to fill than Blaize, but if you asked the average pundit, they’d rate Luai above Gutho. So, theoretically, there’s more pressure on Blaize. Love the show! “Proper giggle” and informative. ✌🏽
Hey brothers welcome back 😀 love the poddy, was listening to the podcast and OG was talking about his SG Ball team and it reminded me of a interview on another podcast (don't worry you guys had finished for the year 😂) it was with Matthew Ridge, the life and times. Anyway the thing that I took must from that interview was when he left the Championship Manly side to go to the Warriors. He was saying that the mental toughness wasn't there, conpaired to the Manly side he just left which explains a lot of that team of that error, by far that Warriors was the best 60 minute team in the game, but league is a 80 minutes plus game. and that's were they fell over. so the thing I'm asking is how do you install that mental toughness to the younger guys coming up though the lower grades to say like SG Ball like OG's boys are. Because I've seen so many young nz players get picked for Ozzie NRL U15 development sides and don't make it because of one thing or another? But most of the time I think they don't have the mental toughness or as OG puts it the (Go at it!!!) Or( Iron Sharpen Iron!!) Attitude what do you think?? Da Random Cuzzie
Chur bro, it's not entirely fair to expect the same level of mental toughness or performance from the Warriors in their early years compared to a seasoned club like Manly. Building a winning culture and instilling the resilience needed to compete at the highest level takes time. The Warriors were still in their formative years when Ridge was knocking about, whereas Manly had decades to refine their processes and standards. Moreover, it's a bit rich for Ridge to criticize his former club about resilience when he was the highest-paid player at the Warriors and was always out injured lol! My point is that mental toughness isn't just about individuals - it's a product of the systems, coaching, and culture built over time. So it's a bit unfair to compare a decades-old powerhouse club to a newly established club. Kia ora.
Hey Guys Enjoy your podcast . Doing a great job. A question Can you tell me , when a bomb goes up , why the wingers and centres sometimes watch the players and not the ball in some cases. Seems like one player jumps but some of the other defending players don’t even have their eyes on the ball Are they trained to do this ? Just been noticing this more and more and just don’t know why . Thanks Tell Willie , it’s Chris from the Bali 19 lol Met him a couple of times
Hey guys loving the podcast. My question is what’s your thoughts on Madge possibly moving Patty to prop and Kobe at lock. And how would it change the team middle rotation. And how would you then rate Payne and Patty as a front row pair ? I’m a broncos fan and am a fan of moving Patty to prop but keen to hear your boys opinion. Thankyou for all the content
Who's the kid in the Parra jersey? Far prefer this to be just the two experts and not some random (although this seems to be a pattern on other similar pods now too).
Been a bulldog supporter all my life. The dogs have had some awesome players over the years, and some great teams. 2004 the best of the lot id say. Reni Maitua playing 5/8 in that 2004 team is the best footy the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs have played in my lifetime. In that team, what that team needed, he was better player than both Anasta and Thurston imo. He was an excellent defender, a physical player, but also could read the game and get the ball to the centres right when they needed it. They played physical footy that was pretty to watch. Youd confidently put him up against any 5/8 - Fittler, Lockyer, Barrett..... Reni could match up on any of those guys. Tremendous player.
Mase - Penrith, Melbourne and Canterbury don't allow player clauses in contracts for good reason: CLUB COMES FIRST. It would be too easy for a player to drop off intensity if in the back of their mind they know they've got a safety net to fall back on. The mindset is different if you know your performance will determine the size of your next contract. The mindset is different if you sign on because you're committing to the club and jersey. You can't tell supporters to accept player power, we support our club, and the players who play for us. Clubs letting players go is nothing new - if you're good enough you will always find a place somewhere. Also, if you want to imbalance your club's Cap by taking too much money you're leaving less money for other top players to be with you. That's not giving you and your team the best chance of winning the comp. Get paid well, sure, but be the right size piece in the Cap puzzle. It doesn't have to be player vs club zero-sum game. Last point: you guys haven't once mentioned Josh Curran when discussing Dogs forwards this year. Major oversight.
Jack Bird starts they’ve already talked about him wanting to play 13 after he didn’t want to play 13 at the Dragons.. Good luck with Birdys ego Benj lol
Nrl teams buying there uk counterparts would be the go especially if your a young bulldogs player getting sent to Batley to play on the field on the side of a hill. Imagine Willies protege Mason terrorising them just his mentor did 😂
Bird is training at 13 for the Tigers so i think Fonua Pole or Alex Seyfarth will play 11. Also no way Staines plays instead of Jeral Skelton. Think the Wingers pick themselves honestly.
Clip it up. Darts is on a Tuesday night, 20 pints deep I've got training tomorrow. Yes OG yes. Loving Luke's input too boys. Great show
Love lukey asking the questions fans want to hear. “Peeling the onion back further” led you guys into telling some great insight of differences in coaching

Great show boys .... a must watch for any league fan. Way better than listening to mainstream journos of dubious footy IQ.
Glad you boys are back! Always chuck the earbuds on at work to listen and pump out a big number shearing sheep listening to something ya enjoy! 💪

Players care less after the move, and therefore probably take shortcuts when it comes to training. Also, they're just a little older.

How could the triple og forget the great Greg the beast Eastwood from the bulldogs internationals
Love the idea of player movement with the Super League, it’d help the international fame enormously.
Great show boys

Just in regards to player options, Harry Grant had one for 2026 and Pezet and Sua both have clauses in their favour. It's becoming the norm.
Fkn poddy ‼️‼️‼️ missed the yarns over the holiday periods. Levels network is just refreshing compared to everyone else, I love you guys and James Graham just cos Jimmy’s passionate too.
Besides all the footy talk etc etc, in terms of a poddy / interview setting, Scope’s delivery man he strings topics and sentences together so well and Willie og comes with his rawness it’s fkn 1+1=2 😂
Keen for the next poddy / episode on the Brisbane division. Keep it coming usos ! 🇼🇸🇦🇺
Payne & Tino if youse are reading this pledge to Samoan bra’s 😂
Yes that ruined Parra, we were an offloading team very entertaining and it worked plus we had an identity.
Imagine being a young kid in the system getting mentioned by mase 🔥🔥
Mase has hit his quota of 1 c-bomb a week on the levels network. Need more unchained Mase on the rant including the classic “don’t get it twisted”
Refound my respect for Big Willie and loving the Kiwi boy for lighting up the RL Podcast world Scope❤️ keep up the good work fellas
Look I’m punching 50yo.
They need stefano to get an off load game
The end
Kiwi Mitch
Come
To
Wellington please 🙏
1:29:41 pumping Parra bye 50 😂😂
Nah fuck all 🍞 kicking back with the levels boys and that 🍞
Lets oggg
DCE & Jakey have to be the guests
Surely the two guys coming on is horo’s best mate DCE and the money man cam Munster, also a shout could the sponsor be knuckles from CTC?
(No hidden get-out clauses in THIS contract!)
Love you, lads, and keep up the good work! 🙂
Yes the bro Lukey with a mic now
According to my 2013 nrl trading cars reni is 183cm think that’s 6 foot in imperial
Super League missed a big opportunity with the Toronto Wolfpack. That was their foot in the door to the US Market
Would be ideal for NRL to buy ESL & have fringe players play over there for experience & come back when need be
Question for Wiremu… How can you can declare Isaiah Iongi as “just a kid” in relation to being a weakness in Parra’s backline. ✌🏽
"old tom, Tommy Jones".. 😂😂😂 that's the kind of respect that clown Tony Jones deserves..... Willie is just the best!! 😂😂😂💪😎🔥
Kia ora.
@BigSnapper mean bro fair call😀
Mas is 110% correct about parras back 5 I don’t see any of them putting their hand up for hard carries
With all this stuff going on with lachy galvin not resigning at the tigers yet could you see dyl brown link up with luai if Galvin moves on ?
Hey Guys
Enjoy your podcast . Doing a great job. A question
Can you tell me , when a bomb goes up , why the wingers and centres sometimes watch the players and not the ball in some cases. Seems like one player jumps but some of the other defending players don’t even have their eyes on the ball Are they trained to do this ?
Just been noticing this more and more and just don’t know why .
Thanks
Tell Willie , it’s Chris from the Bali 19 lol
Met him a couple of times
Hey guys loving the podcast. My question is what’s your thoughts on Madge possibly moving Patty to prop and Kobe at lock. And how would it change the team middle rotation. And how would you then rate Payne and Patty as a front row pair ? I’m a broncos fan and am a fan of moving Patty to prop but keen to hear your boys opinion. Thankyou for all the content
Gotta get s.j on here boys
Who's the kid in the Parra jersey? Far prefer this to be just the two experts and not some random (although this seems to be a pattern on other similar pods now too).
His role is to ask questions which the viewer 'also average punter' is probably thinking. In my opinion, he's been doing a great job.
Have you guys thought about doing a tip comp
Dce and Munster
Hozs best mates
Hey guys im pretty sure pezet has a clause if hughes re-signs
Will you boys be featuring on a hello sport live stream watching a game this year?
How many rings does horo have and not including munsters Dailey m
Jack Bird starts they’ve already talked about him wanting to play 13 after he didn’t want to play 13 at the Dragons..
Good luck with Birdys ego Benj lol
Big chad guy and Val
Wildcats/panthers come on now scope 😅 Leigh leopards is crazy 😂😂
Boys what were your boys personal bests bronco times. Just curious since your middles.
The boys joining, I'm guessing, are Townsend and Munster
Nrl teams buying there uk counterparts would be the go especially if your a young bulldogs player getting sent to Batley to play on the field on the side of a hill. Imagine Willies protege Mason terrorising them just his mentor did 😂
Bird is training at 13 for the Tigers so i think Fonua Pole or Alex Seyfarth will play 11. Also no way Staines plays instead of Jeral Skelton. Think the Wingers pick themselves honestly.
Fozzy and gutho
DCE & HYNES
SITILI 🥶😮💨
DCE is a lock. I'll go Zac Lomax for the 2nd as a smokey.
Townsend and cheese
DCE and Cleary
Chez and Munny current players is my guess
Surely Zac Lomax goes to fullback if the kid struggles and the team is under the pump?
Bring more Parra positivity!
Boys no chance Blaize gets the call up until he is ready. I think he is a talent but needs a lot of work.
DCE and Chad T.
New poddy DCE and Foran.
The Cheese and Connor Watson
Gutherson and Brandon Smith
Cherry Evans and foran
critta and bizza
DCE and gutho to be guest hosts..
