⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Exploring the Sant Joan Funicular at Montserrat

The Sant Joan Funicular is a funicular railway at Montserrat, near Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. The line connects the monastery, and the upper terminus of the Montserrat Rack Railway, with sacred sites, walking trails, and viewpoints higher up the mountain. With a maximum gradient of 65%, it is the steepest funicular in Spain. Enjoy this special look at a very impressive railway!

Did a little research on the track and how the wheels work. Basically the outer wheel has two flanges which keeps the train on its side of the track. The inner wheel is more of a cylinder. Kind of like the wheels on the Flintstones car. At the looping point this cylinder seamlessly rolls from one rail, to two, and back to one.

The switches/points on these funicular tracks always baffle the hell out of me. It straight up looks like they would derail looking at the way they are set.
