I seen an article that showed honda is developing another cr500 with 92hp. But idk if its true. Check it out on google. Unlikely, but hopefully it is true 🤑
I want one! I started racing in the late 60's when it all started and was also glued to my Dirt Bike Magazine. Montesa, Bultaco, Sachs, Penten, Husky's, Maico, Elsinore, Hodaka, Taco and Little Indian mini bikes, just to name a few that I had. Now at 59, I ride a '14 KTM 500 exc I built (I sure miss those earily days though) !!
lol well met friend, first order the free video then one of our trained professional Tech Associates will contact you for a free consultation how this could be yours.
Come on, you have a 500 dual exhaust 2 stroke and there’s not one clip in the video of the rider actually pinning it or showing any of the bike power. The dude in the video is riding it like it’s a 65. You guys should actually show us what the bikes capable of.
Seriously, a crowded desert is not the place to show this thing off. Wasn't there a big straight wash somewhere near there? Shit, put it on the road for all I care, I just want to see it opened up!
Fair enough. I owned & rode a 1981 Suzuki RM465X motocross racer here in New Zealand back around 1984. I swapped my 1979 Honda XR500 for it with a mate. He went on to blow the XR500 up on the way to work...I went on to fit a Boyesen Reed to the inlet manifold to smooth out the powerful RM465 engine power band. As my goal was to tall gear the RM465 for off-road maximum speed runs of around 10km, I fitted a small rear sprocket and large front gearbox spindle sprocket - can't remember the number of teeth on both sprockets now. I ran the engine on BelRay 2 stoke oil. I considered using alcohol for fuel however was frightened I might take the top of the piston off with too lean mix. I weighed around 69kg back then. I achieved my goal. Don't know what speeds I reached but I believe they were around 100mph. Pic of the bike here: www.flickr.com/photos/35707376@N00/50855348636/in/album-72157713681398176/
I rode a ported for hill climbs 1987 CR500R with the best forks Honda ever put on a dirt bike, the 43mm cartridge Showa's. with 15/47 sprocket set, the gps in my pocket said 101 miles an hour across El Mirage. Without the front fender. With the front fender it toped out at 97 mph. I was drag racing all my buddy's on their new four strokes, and by the time I got into fifth, they were all little dots on the horizon. It was the most reliable, fast best handling desert bike I ever owned, and I've owned quite a few. I'm positive it would smoke this thalidomide twin pipe monstrosity, since they put the engine in a different frame (a CRF450 yuck...) and I'm sure the only thing the rider on this bike would see is dust, and smell traces of 32.1 Yamalube R as my old CR500 put miles between us. I never got beat, nothing like doing 70 mph feet up slides with the front wheel a foot off the ground. Bring it on.
When I was a kid, the best day of every month was when Dirt Bike hit the mailbox. Super Hunky and Paul Clipper and all the tests and stories (I remember the Super Hunky F15 story and chasing rain all over the desert, Clipper's "Finsher" and the return of the US to the MdN with Bailey, Magoo, and O'Show wrecking the Euros). I lived for Anaheim SX and the legends of the time and then going out to El Mirage and Shadow Mountain and blasting all over the desert with my dad.
The best bike I ever had the pleasure in riding cr250 89. Beast, more than enough 💪 for any man. Had quick blast on a kx420. That thing used to rattle your bones hard.
I spent my whole life watching Motocross from age 5 onward to my early 20's When Carmichael left and the 4-strokes took over, I was over it. This is the best thing I've seen since 2005 hands down. The manufacturers sold us on heavy slow 4-strokes that are only fast for pro's who hit the min weight spec limit for a pro-bike regardless of 4-stroke or 2-stroke motors etc. They cost far more out of the box, they take WAY more to maintain and they're nowhere near as fun to ride. This is why motocross declined and they can't figure out why. YOU SOLD US OUT HON/YAM/KAW/KTM/ETC.
TheReasonableAmericans They nowhere near as fun. But they are faster... considerably in many cases. But 2 strokes are what my brain recognises as a dirtbike sound. And 4 stroke noise carries so much further. =more noise complaints. Was good to be able to do 90% of maintenance in the shed rather cheaply too. You nailed it tho. They. Just. FUN. as fuck...
I will have to disagree with you on that 4 strokes are faster. I ride with two good friends of mine, one has a KX450 4 stroke the other has a YZ450 4 stroke and I have a YZ250 2 stroke all bikes stock and they cannot keep up with me.
Read Superhunky.com, the industry section where it tells why we all got four stroke dirt bikes that have to be rebuilt after 15 hours of hard riding, and cost $10,000.00 for a new one. Also, since the vales are so impossible to adjust (bucket over shim) you have to take it to the shop. Once a 2 stroke dirt bike was bought new, it never saw the shop again. A top end job on my CR took about an hour. Don't even try it on a new Japanese four striker. They suck.
Just shows the sorry state of the bike industry when the only bike you want to ride is the bike you have to build yourself, and every other sucker wants it!
If Honda released this 2-Stroke tiller, I'd be breaking ground tomorrow! I'm sick of 4T, plain old tired of them and that's an understatement to say the least! Can't wait for your March issue!
genuinely one of the best mx bikes out there! every thing looked awesome! you can really tell they went all out on this one, red hoses, coloured rear sprocket, coloured drive chain and its a 500cc 2 stroke with dual exhaust!?
Goddam I love the sound of those. Back in the day when I wore a young mans jersey I rode and raced an 84 CR500 with Moose Racing porting and a 2 lb flywheel weight. Thing was a beast, scared the shit out me every time I rode it, and I love it! Hearing the one on video put a huge smile on my face, I recognize that sound instantly. Thanks.
The perfect bike build video. Good mix of everything in all the right doses. Great job. Thank you for keeping the music down throughout the riding parts.
It's so hard to ride this to it's full potential absolutely amazing machine ! I wish I had the strength to start one let alone ride it ! Gives me goosebumps just hearing the that thing on the pipe ! 2 stroke is love 2 stroke is life
If Honda had any collective brains left, they would bring back their two stroke line up, I mean, a CR300R for woods work would be sick AF! Guess I'll just buy a Beta or KTM! Cool CR500 build, thing rips!
This has made me a lot more keen to get a start on my 2019cr125 build I’m doing got a 2019 crf250r donor and just gathering parts together, now I’m hyped 👌🏻
2 stroke the only way to ride,I don't ride dirt bikes but I do love my 86 250r 3 wheeler and 88 250r quad. BRING THE 2 STROKES BACK. strange my 3 wheeler has 14 and up lol in today's society it'd be 21 or over 😂 great video man!
I want the RZ500, Gamma & other street bikes back, in their modern form, it's currently easier to import an automatic weapon than it is to import a baadass 2stroke street bike.
Great project, understand the need for the IMS tank, more of a desert bike setup, but would loved to have seen a custom carbon tank, the dual exhausts sort of take that awesome 500cc bark away, probably helps the ride ability, but really love how the original CR500 or KX50 with a single Silencer sound. But sick as bike and work done cheers for the vid, def looking forward to more 500s vids from you guys though 🤙
MaverickDH A stock tank, which I run on my CRF250/Kx500 has enough fuel for 4 laps of practice and then a 15 min moto at Glen Helen. There isn't much left at the checkers but is not a concern of running out. I use a IMS though for Glamis.
I would love 10 mins on that just for the scare factor .😲👋🏻🙏🏼👍🏻🇬🇧love it why did people start buying 4 strokes I miss the 2 stroke a lot and the price of them have obviously shot up , trying two get a cheap RM 250 just for a field bike and it's hard work..this is a work of art it has bits I didn't no existed .👌🏼
You guys did a fantastic job,and I need your help..I want to fit dual exhaust to my Honda XR650L which I'm building to supermoto specs. I mean come on I'm 54 and the carcass won't allow anymore racing so the next best thing are sticky 17's and the best power characteristics and sound for back roads and 2 laners that can be had.In the 90's Honda employed Scott Summers who campaigned an XR600 with yoshimura duals. Now the frames are the same and the left sidecover is empty due to lithium ion battery relocation. I have heard that crf 250 and 450 dual exhaust set up will work for the XR650L. Can you guys helped out please???????
Yeah I agree. 2 strokes need to be brought back! I also wish the big 4 would get their crap together and get back to the roots of what made moto great!
Love CR500's but I smoked a group of three experienced riders all on cr500's on my KX250 2t. Granted I shifted a LOT more, but they couldn't keep up. All bikes were 01's except for a 98 CR, including my KX.
when you have built a bike like this you need to show us how it rides double - triple and so on - we want to see it turn to zero and reaccelerate so we can appreciate the torque on the 2 stroke - 500 cc and also see how fast it is - The guy riding it is just having a stroll around good dirt - He might be taleNted but please do another video to the level of that machine . Thank you - I'm a big bore two stroke fan .
Please do one on my 78 Dt400. I know it is lowly compared, but what would modern tech do for this old work horse. It does better than it has a right to be, just like me. I was thinking not a new frame, but period correct parts mostly such as aluminum swing arm from a yz or It, some 38mm forks and tripple clamps from same, a little porting work, with a modified fmf pipe from a 78 yz400 and fmf turbine core II silencer. What would say a mid model 80's dt400 be like?
Thats a nice bike man! I have an 04 CR250 and I havent rode anything newer than a 2009 CRF450 haha. I know im missing out but I love my 2 stroke so much.
threefiddyone I had an 01 cr250 and it was a fun bike but someone wanted to trade me for a 2014 crf450r so I couldn’t turn that down haha but I had a 2005 Crf250r, 2009 and 2014 crf450r and sold all 3 to buy this RX and I’m not regretting it one bit! Haha
Looks great with the dual slip ons but I swear when I seen dual exhaust 500 I was really hoping and thought you meant dual fatties. I mean c'mon, how cool woukd that be?
WE WANT THE 500 2 STROKE BACK
The Goon these companies don't want easy money. Easier to make .... Common
Just make your own
yamaha is making a 500 2 stroke
bloodfox567 bullshit. Who ,where, and how did you hear that???
I seen an article that showed honda is developing another cr500 with 92hp. But idk if its true. Check it out on google. Unlikely, but hopefully it is true 🤑
God I love 2 stroke dirt bikes, glad I was young in their day!!!
I want one! I started racing in the late 60's when it all started and was also glued to my Dirt Bike Magazine. I would tip that bike 😂

Wonder what gear he's in
Right, at first I thought it was a 125 didn't seem impressive is the rider a beginner?
I was waiting for a high speed flyby just skimming on the the tops of a long woop section. Good vid, and maybe the best dirt bike ive ever seen.
Thats a bad ass bike. Thats the ultimate moto bike. Probably the highest peeformance, most durable, and most versatile bike ever is a cr500af.
“There’s no such thing as a $50,000 cr500...”

Someone call Ronnie Mac to teach this kid how to ride.

He can ride but don’t let him on this beauty. He’ll cut the fenders off the first chance he gets. 😂

This is by far the coolest bike I've ever seen.
They have to bring it back
Someone should have called me for the test ride..
The Cr500 was an extension of my Body forever.
Love that bike above all others..
This is a awesome bike!! Would really like to see what it does out of first gear though.
The best bike I ever had the pleasure in riding cr250 89. Beast, more than enough 💪 for any man. Had quick blast on a kx420. That thing used to rattle your bones hard.
Props to the videographer, that shot of the bike on the stand in the stream was beautiful!
Now thats a bike!, yamaha, ktm and husq are the only ones left doing it! 2 stroke all the way, so easy to work on

drongo jonkins Ha! Damn right!
drongo jonkins Husky and Ktms are fukn gay lmao
How is having pretty much the same bike except with an extra gear, hydraulic clutch and other good stuff for pretty much the same money gay?
TS50ER dude I built an 07 crf 250 chassis and 01 500 motor, what a dream to ride it is the funnest bike I have owned in my 43 years of life.
Garrett Gustafson 100% 👍🏻😎

I'm so glad the cr 500 is coming back in 2019 I just got my hands on my first one the other day been looking for one for years they are a true legend

BarnStangz shit man big bore and stroke a 2007 cr250 and you have a cr300 woods weapon.
BarnStangz 2 strokes are illegal like the old ones u can't make them the same anymore cuz they are not good for environment or some b.s.
Yamaha, KTM, Husky, TM, Beta, Sherco, and Gas Gas all have a modern two stroke line up in the US still.
Yes sir! They all know what's up! The Euro 2t's are great too!
I still have my 1993 CR250R, it was good in the woods, but I need something new. I'll be purchasing a Beta soon. Maybe keep an eye out on my channel.
Notice how the caption writes ''music'' when you hear the 2 stroke sounds
Should say
The sound of God of which he is trying to remove from this earth
Awesome video! I'll never sell my 2001 500 smoker. I'd love to see more 500cc two stroke content. Keep up the great videos.
MelowTrapper yeah last year made great bike man keep it alive and running they are rare. I own several different 500s
This has made me a lot more keen to get a start on my 2019cr125 build I’m doing got a 2019 crf250r donor and just gathering parts together, now I’m hyped 👌🏻

Really it sounds kinda Mello or the clutch is weak iv owned cr500 .
Give this man a pit bike
He’s a scared Lil boy!
This bike is KING of the dirt bike world
I wish the big four would make there open class bikes again for us die hard two strokes....
Why don't they want easy money? Easier to manufacture . All trail riders by me would buy one
I wish i could thumb up more than once....
Chris Cardoza Metallica anthrax megadeth and slayer??
What does big four mean (Honda?)
I want the RZ500, Gamma & other street bikes back, in their modern form, it's currently easier to import an automatic weapon than it is to import a baadass 2stroke street bike.
HONDA IF YOUR WATCHING PLEASE BRING BACK THE CR500 🙏💙💙💙
2 stroke for life!!!
No way, I love these 2 Stroke hybrids. Beats my old 80’s mx’ers for sure 👌
You guys have outdone yourselves this is an Amazing Work Of Art
Excited for more 500 build videos! I hope they manufacture some new 500s before I'm too old to ride anymore.
2 strokes FOREVER!!! The REAL passion.
Keep them coming. I have one finished and will start the next one in the spring.
I'm a KX man since a boy, but Dang, that thing is a thing of beauty.
MaverickDH A stock tank, which I run on my CRF250/Kx500 has enough fuel for 4 laps of practice and then a 15 min moto at Glen Helen. There isn't much left at the checkers but is not a concern of running out. I use a IMS though for Glamis.
Good point i barely recognized the sound! they get even barkier when the packing is starting to need replacing!
MaverickDH i,
So it has two silencers and one expansion chamber?
It is absolutely beautiful and the fit and finish is amazing
I would love 10 mins on that just for the scare factor .😲👋🏻🙏🏼👍🏻🇬🇧love it why did people start buying 4 strokes I miss the 2 stroke a lot and the price of them have obviously shot up , trying two get a cheap RM 250 just for a field bike and it's hard work..this is a work of art it has bits I didn't no existed .👌🏼
The most beautiful bike I‘ve ever seen
My God, You guys are really cranking out that sweet content. This is truly a dream bike. AWESOME VIDEO! Love your hard work.
Dual pipe CR500? I don't want one. I NEEEEEEEEEED one.
This is probably the most beautiful bike Ive ever seen. I like the older looking kx500’s though a bit better
The old widow maker lives !!!!
That sound makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and reminds me of my teen years
What a clean and crisp sounding bike!!
One of the best looking 500AF's I have ever seen.
That's the best looking 500 2 t so far. I would love to have one in that frame
Love to see more 500 videos!
That thing just has to absolutely shred. It looks really, really good.
Amazing Honda CR500 2strokes
So, that's pretty much what Honda would make if they didn't stop making it
Seems to have lost a lot of that "Ting ta Ting Ting Ting" when off throttle
Awesome project well executed. Well Done
Proof that the modern four stroke can be improved. Just needs a little work and a two stroke fixed into the frame
I don't know why you thought it was ugly. I think it looks really cool
Can we have the exact build list parts for this build
1 minute into the video I started smelling Klotz premix. I got go riding soon. Must be withdrawal.
The traction on that bike is amazing
They finally got this conversion right... this is the one i would do..amazing bike... my clavicle says noway
My pipe started drooling as soon as I seen the title.... I would commit "public indecency" to have this bike lol
You guys did a fantastic job,and I need your help..I want to fit dual exhaust to my Honda XR650L which I'm building to supermoto specs. Can you guys helped out please???????
I bet I've watched this video 20 times, mouth waters every time!!
How is it in top gear pinned and through the rough??
That's the way all 2T riders I know ride..pinned whatever the gear, Max revs.
Who cares what gear... max revs is the way to ride, all the time.
Am I the only one who expected Ronnie Mac to be ripping this beauty in the vid.
BEAST MODE!!
Can someone explain the advantage of dual exhaust. If you're trying to make a dirt bike heavier just tape some lead weights to the frame.
I would love to ride that bike even if it is above my skill level. It sounds great. The goat in his prime with this bike would be something to see
Yeah I agree.
Well, we know it turns. How does it jump and handle long, fast, rough straights?
OMG OMG OMG OMG, THIS BIKE IS ALL I EVER WANTED, EXCEPT I WOULD KILL FOR YOU TO MAKE IT FUEL INJECTED!
How could a steering stabilizer make any difference on this 500 2 stroke motocross ? The bike & front wheel are always off the ground !
Real nice bike n well put together , should have taken it to a track to do the review or somewhere you can really show what it is capable of
so in what way does the dual exhaust work? by exiting two silencers? seems obvious.
Sick...I wish I could smell that sweet two stroke exhaust aroma through my computer screen
I like that same exact bike dual exhaust but 4strock instead of 2strock . Would that be posible ??
when you have built a bike like this you need to show us how it rides double - triple and so on - we want to see it turn to zero and reaccelerate so we can appreciate the torque on the 2 stroke - 500 cc and also see how fast it is - The guy riding it is just having a stroll around good dirt - He might be taleNted but please do another video to the level of that machine . Thank you - I'm a big bore two stroke fan .
What a machine wow love the cr 500 and this is a dream.
Why wouldnt you wrap that exhaust for even more thermal tuning?
BEAUTY OF A BIKE, true works bike.
Should I start off with this bike?
I have one question. Why do dirt bikes have 2 exhausts with 1cylinder? Thank you for answers
Beautiful,what a superb piece of engineering,too nice to ride!👍✌👌
Please do one on my 78 Dt400. I know it is lowly compared, but what would modern tech do for this old work horse. It does better than it has a right to be, just like me. I was thinking not a new frame, but period correct parts mostly such as aluminum swing arm from a yz or It, some 38mm forks and tripple clamps from same, a little porting work, with a modified fmf pipe from a 78 yz400 and fmf turbine core II silencer. What would say a mid model 80's dt400 be like?
Thats the type of bike to make me risk a divorce
threefiddyone that’s fucking hilarious! Thank you for that
HondaAllDay H.A.D Lmao thats what im here for. Im sure many guys are in the same boat
threefiddyone for real that cr500 is a gem, but I just bought the 2017 Crf450rx and I’m absolutely loving this new frame!
Haha
What kind of horsepower does it make? Do you think it'd consistently pull faster times around tracks vs. a race ready 2018 CRF450 or 2019 FC450?
If i strap 10k to my 450 and ride it into my monitor at the top pf 5 will one of these shoot back out into my shop?
How many times you need to get a ride to change all the pistons and shit?
only fripe about this beautiful machine is the lowering link. i really would love to do a build like this, with a big ol port on a 1994 engine
I'm loving the look of this bike!
Cool so when does the mass production start?
Looks great with the dual slip ons but I swear when I seen dual exhaust 500 I was really hoping and thought you meant dual fatties. I mean c'mon, how cool woukd that be?
