Correction at 1:07 This is the second ZOOM lens for the Fujifilm mount. They also have 23mm , 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm primes available for Fujifilm. My bad.
5:05 while the fujifilm 150-600 is f5.6-f8, i own the fujifilm 100-400 and it is f4.5-f5.6 but it does have a larger filter size at 77mm. both it and the sigma are fantastic and lovely lenses though, but the fujifilm 100-400 has the upper hand in terms of light while the sigma is just smaller and more affordable.
Nice alternative for people who are looking for cheaper x-mount tele-lens. I didn’t have the choice a few years ago and bought the 100-400 from Fuji…and its a keeper.
Eager to see the sigma 23mm review. I have the 56mm and love it, but need something a little wider. I was pretty much sold on the 23mm after seeing other reviews on it a couple months ago, but then the Viltrox 27mm came along and I'm undecided again.
This is going to sell. Sigma makes great optics lately and at 1/3 of the cost! The 18-50mm is already the best travel/street lens, it's lightweight, perfect size, amazing image quality, close focus distance, and sharp. For the 100-400mm if you could get this clear image of the Vessel with the XT3, I can imagine the stabilization on the XT5 will be even better! I think it's better to buy this lens than the XF 70-300mm. Again, everything is subjective. Thank you for another great camera gear overview!
Hey Oscar, I just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet you at the B&H bild expo today. Like I said, keep doing your thing we are definitely watching. Wishing you nothing but good luck brother!
I have this lens for L mount. I love it. I got some unique photos of the Brooklyn Bridge a few months ago. Super cool focal length. Love your city scapes with it.
It's tempting due to portability, but I've seen some used fuji 100-400 for nearly the same price, which comes with a tripod collar and aperture ring too (Though damn fuji for not including an arca foot for that collar) Wish I hadn't sold it, it was a beaut
Always watching your videos. At 5min odd you compare this lens to the 150-600. Surely it would be better to reference Fujifilm's 100-400, which at 400mm is f5.6. It is also worth noting that at 400mm, the 150-600 is f7.1 so the max aperture at 600mm is not that relevant when comparing to a 400mm lens.

I am so glad you got this and did this review! I was going to preorder from B&H. I have the XH2s so can't wait! Eventually I'll add the x-t5 to my lineup (maybe) so the extra pixels should be good. Thanks Omar!
I have this lens! I mean not the *exact* same, I have the Nikon F mount version, which is identical as far as the optics go (they just added length at the base of it) that I use on a Fringer NF-FX adapter. Optics are great, stabilizer is pretty solid, doesn't matter if it's full frame or not, it works! The AF on yours is probably better though haha. Also I'm not sure if it's able to fully utilize the 40Mp sensors, it's sharp enough for 24/26 but not really sure about 40, especially wide open
Thanks but I'll keep my Fuji 100-400mm with a collar and aperture ring that does a great job on my X-T5... (130.00 for a ring that should come with it anyway).
Hello ! Thank you very much for your videos!! I know there is no perfect solution, but what do you think about the teleconverter x2 ? It brings us with a 100-280 with the 50-140 and still good aperture. In terms of image quality does it remain cool ? do you think you could have taken the same quality of picture of the moon ? Thanks!
Good alternative to XF100-400. Wish Sigma brought this a few years back 😞. Would've saved my wallet and of course the weight and dimensions are worth buying over XF100-400. Bought my XF100-400 in 2018 now that is a keeper having spent so much on it. BTW I cannot understand why all reviewers are telling about the push pull zoom as a fea😲😲 ? My 3 XF zoom lenses (18-55, 70-300 and 100-400) can be zoomed that way! So also the old Sony A mounts (1680 CZ and 70300G) I have. Even in the Fuji XS1 that brought me into Fuji fold the lens can be pushed and pulled to zoom
FF lens but Fuji mount, size of FF still remains same, these lenses defeats the APS-C size reduction. Then Why get this APS-C, just go for FF and get this lens.
That lens is smaller than the Fuji 100-400mm and lighter by 200 grams. The 70-300 with TC will offer worse optical performance and 2/3 stops less light gathering.
I was saving up for the Fuji 70-300 as a wildlife lens to replace my 50-230 but this Sigma is in the same ballpark price wise (£750 Fuji vs £900 Sigma) so now I'm wondering if being double the weight is a decent trade-off for the extra 100mm...
Is it advisable to use this Sigma 100-400 on X-S20 with HD 240, since it crops further 1.29x in video it gives equivalent focal length of 200-800mm without 1.4 TC
@@kaneclements7761 yes, I've had the Fuji 100-400 on the X-E4. It's really easy to forget, especially when moving in the woods looking for wildlife. I bought a X-H1 to fix this.
I shouldn't have to presume, but since I do.... Based on your handling and the lack of included tripod collar, I presume it's plastic with a metal mount. Has a surprisingly cheap look for a Sigma.
No you don't, take the sigma 16 1.4 vs Fuji version, there's so little difference and yet 3 times the cost. People only have Fuji lenses because third party is still new
@@ionrage I don't know anything about 16. But when I switched from sigma 30 to fuji 33 1.4, it was a dramatic change. Sigma 56 is a much better lens than Sigma 30, but I found out that I tend to use Fuji 90 a lot more. However, I think Sigma 56 could be a better option than Fuji 56, because the latter is heavy and has a slower af, but I didn't have a chance to test a Fuji 56.
Wait, what! $130 for a tripod collar? That's a bit salty isn't it? I also hold my breath before releasing the shutter, something I learned in the Air Cadets when shooting. These days it kinda makes me a little squiffy - I should stop 😂
I don't know why they didn't make it 200 to 500 why do I say that because at 100 mm you really not going to shoot a lot at 100mm you're more likely to use the longer end 😮
In any case, Fuji original lenses will always reign supreme… the XF 100-400 with the fast linear focus motors, is no exception… I do however prefer the 150-600, albeit at a full stop of light loss at the long end of focus. I’ve had three expensive sigma Art lenses, and they’re pure crap, especially compared to Nikon and Fuji originals
All nice....But ....that rubberized finishing will end up becoming sticky in a couple of years. Worst invention ever made. Computer Mouses, Some car parts etc etc. That's a direct no for me.

5:04, don't you also multiply the crop factor to calculate the aperture since the lens is full frame? 🤔 So it's effectively 150-600 f7.5-10? Feel free to correct me since I'm not quite sure about this. So the f8 from Fuji would let in a bit more light than the sigma when zoomed all the way in, I guess.
This is a poor man's super zoom. Had this legs for almost 2 years now. Sold the Sony 70-350 for apsc to get this for the a7iii. This lens is kind of slow when comparing to the other zoom lens I got. Slap this on my Sony a6600 vs the 70-350. I have a lot more successful het rate with the 70-350. It's an ok lens. Will be taking it out to a airshow in October. Let's see how much turns out blurry. 😒 I still have PTSD with Sigma, I vividly recall the days of old when buying a Sigma (not the cheapo ones, but the high end ones) was a lottery, hoping it will be a "good copy" and chances to get a melon was as high as 70%. Then what Fuji has to offer in native lenses 200mm and above suffer some weird and harsh bokeh effect
The video stabilization is horrendous especially for birds/objects in motion, you saw that in the micro video sample you also shared, as you moved slightly the jerkiness of movement was bad and a complete No No for wildlife or action. The 70-300 is itself a much better lens and the 100-400 is way better than this. For photography the 70-300 is cheaper and is brighter with way better stabilization.
