Hi everyone,
I’ve had a request from Heidi, one of my Subscribers, to film St. Catherine’s Church in Ludham and have a look at the WW1 and WW2 war graves. It’s always nice to film a request for someone. I decided it was an ideal time to include the rest of the village at the same time.
I started at How Hill, then went to St. Benets Abbey, After here St. Catherine’s Church and finally former RAF Ludham and the runway.
I hope you enjoy this video, I certainly had fun filming it.
Don’t forget to let us all know in the comments, which country you are watching from.

Enjoyed it very much ,and yes ,a Gold Star is a motor cycle !
We’ll be careful 😱 ….. it’s not you, it’s the others. Glad you enjoyed today’s video, thank you.
Great video, we visited the How Hill House last year and really enjoyed it. Thanks for the video.
You are very welcome.
How Hill is an amazing place. Can’t imagine one family just owning the house and living there with those vast grounds. What an incredible childhood the children must have had. A Pleasure Wherry moored at the end of their garden and Toad Hole Cottage a playhouse for the children…..
Thank you so much, we enjoyed watching your journey..John and Anne.
Thank you both.
Just something different to film.
Hi, I just loved this video, we haven't been on the Broads for a couple of years and your tours around St Bennetts Abbey, and St Catherines church were wonderful and brought back so many memories, I been going to the Broads all my life, since I was small, as my mum and dad took us there every year, the churches just ooze history, especially medieval history, I love Ranworth church,St Helens, the rood screens in there are beautiful, I always put a prayer request for my parents in the wall at front righthand side, and then just sit for a bit, it's so peaceful, so thanks for showing us these places, I have such fondness for Norfolk, living in the suburbs of Manchester, is not too bad, we live in Urmston, a town about a couple miles from Uniteds grounds, and it's quite a leafy town, but not like Norfolk, so thanks again xxx😆😆😆👍
Thank you for your lovely comments. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the tour.
I thought the roads were narrow where I live but I think you have the record for narrow roads. Excellent video really enjoyable.
Thank you, I’m pleased you enjoyed the video.
Would you like to see a narrower road ? 😂 it can be arranged .
@@NewnameSameme A narrower road?. That's got to be a footpath Ha Ha.
Hi another fantastic video and trip out.st Bennett, was really interesting I have seen it from the water but not like that before, next time I am near there I will pay it a visit, lovely to see a saliing boat out in joining the day,at least it wasn't as cold as yesterday,,. congratulations on going global 😂,
But I am not surprised as your videos are really interesting,,
Can't wait to see wear you go next 🤔
Best wishes to you,
Hi, thanks for the amazing video of Ludham war Graves , WILLIAM HOLLIS was my wife's grandad he died building Ludham airbase, he was killed by a train on his way back from Potter Highham , He was married with 6 children at the time, his wife Nellie could not afford to bring him home to chesterfield at time of war, we visited every year up to 2018 when we sold our caravan, can I say a massive thank you for putting flowers on my granddad's grave from all the family.
Oh my goodness, you are so very welcome. I’m pleased you saw it 📸. Thank you for watching and for your comments. 💐
It was fantastic to join you looking round St Bennett. It's so much more detailed than I expected, really fascinating. Great to see the sailing boats go by and give perspective as to where we would normally be! I love all the little facts that you drop in and How Hill was also great to hear about, especially the Olympic link!
Now, I have to admit you brought tears to my eyes when you showed the flowers you took for those three men buried in the churchyard. I really can't thank you enough for taking those from your channel. I feel that although there are other group dedications, they need their own. Only my opinion of course, but every time I visit I will be taking something along for them.
I really can't thank you enough, the whole video was so very in tune with places dear to us - you really must have telepathy! Thank you again 💕 xx
You are very welcome.
I thoroughly enjoyed filming this video. Thank you for the wonderful suggestion. xx
We watch from Durham cannot wait to be back at end of May 2022.
May will be here quicker than we think. Time just flies. Thank you for watching.
PS I'm watching from Pen-y-groes, Carmarthenshire which is about 4 miles from the end of the M4!! x
I remember walking up from the staithe to go to the shops at Ludham in the 1960s with my mum. If I remember right there used to be a butchers, a bakers and a small gift shop on the corner opposite the pub.
30 odd years later I remember walking to the doctors surgery in Ludham, with a friend, to get help for another friend who had hurt his back helping some ladies moor up. Sadly both of them are no longer with us.
I'm watching your channel from Nottingham. About 130 miles to my old boatyard in Wroxham and not much further to Ludham.
The butchers, pub, and Throwers store are all still there but the bakers I’m not sure where that was.
Sorry to hear about your friends.
@@NewnameSameme where you turned right in Ludham to go to How Hill there was a shop just there on the right. Is that Throwers? The name rings a bell. The bakers used to be close to the butchers shop if I remember correctly.
Yes that’s Throwers.
I don’t think the bakers is there now. Such a shame.
@@NewnameSameme yes it is a shame so many local shops are no longer with us. I was going to say that's progress but I'm not sure that it is. Goodnight.
Boats, wildlife, churches, anything to do with the Norfolk Broads is wonderful to watch thanks, keep up the good work
Thank you so much.
hi lisa , enjoyed the little trip round the countryside ,it was really nice of you to put those flowers on the graves , ive actually been inside the abbey & did a little video myself , but never been at night time , i'm a coward lol , i'm from up north in the derbyshire hills , of chesterfield .
I have actually been to Chesterfield, years ago. All I can remember though, is a brick weave petrol station suffice . Car tyres made a weird noise over them. Strange the things you remember years later. You live in a fabulous part of the country.
I just thought it might be nice to give them some flowers from us all. 💐
Bonjour Madam! Wow! Thanks to you, I'm now a RUclips superstar Ha! Ha! (Think it was me?) Hmm! Super video! Love the wet country lanes and leaf denuded trees, it open up the views! The historical heads up on the various buildings etc was great! Quick question! Is How Hill house the one you wrote about "Shaken but not stirred" ??? Best wishes! Moi from France!
Bonjour Monsieur 🇫🇷
The property mentioned, features in today’s video. I filmed it yesterday. It’s incredible…. The Mill, not my filming 🤣
I have had so far in December 23 different countries watch my channel. 134 views from France. 172 from Australia 499 from USA… I’ll screenshot the others and send them to you. Even views from Palestine.
Definitely International now 😊
I’ll email you now
Au revoir from Angleterre
Email has been sent to you.
Anther interesting trip around the lesser known Broads. Thank you. Blurred signatures maybe because your camera cannot focus that close to the book.
Thank Bob, good point. I’ll try further away next time 👍🏻
P S.Measham in Leicestershire.
We went to st Bennett's Abbey for the first time in October as there was moorings available
In the summer it’s the same for cars, no spaces left. I love the isolation of St. Benets, you can see why the monks chose to be there.
Kirkmichael, Perthshire, Scotland
hi lisa i believe nassin 1 is correct about the nelson grave , i remember waiting at the bus stop 43 years ago and i said to my friend look thats nelsons grave.
I asked Google where was Lord Nelson was buried and it says St. Paul’s cathedral in London.
Thank you for letting me know, I will investigate further.
Ludham church is where my Grandfather was born. Our family history goes back nearly 300 yrs.
That’s wonderful. Does he still live locally?
@@NewnameSameme No he left when was about 20yrs old. He was the youngest in the family. The name is Wenn. They are mentioned in Ludham Archives. Mainly farm labours, Wherry men, and kidder (kind of butcher). The last address was the florist next to
the Kings Pub. Parents were lucky to see the church chest with all the records in before being moved to Norwich. They certainly was poor.
Awww 🥰
Hi
We live in Ludham and our garden is open for viewing Christmas lights from 4/8pm. You drove past our house and sign on Staithe Road. You are welcome to come and film one evening. Check your Ludham video on Staithe road for the location.
Thank you so much, I would love to.
That will make a wonderful Christmas video.
I will see you soon, thank you Tim.
A lovely drive around Ludham... As you were driving up Staithe Road and were talking about Kieron Williamson (mini Monet), you passed 'The Dutch Cottage' former home of Sir Edward Seago. A well known artist, who was born in Norwich and painted for many years around the Norfolk coast and broads, until his death in 1974. He was a particular favourite of the Royal family, who still have many Seago paintings in their collection... ruclips.net/video/-xzgOXON_Fg/видео.html
Thank you Andy.
I have heard of him but didn’t know where he lived. I will look for that cottage when I next ho along there.
Hi, unfortunately, the message you’ve just written on the secret garden video, hasn’t saved.
Did you see Lord nelson grave at ludam
