There are many myths and legends regarding Robin Williams "unscripted' performances, including his performances in Good Morning Vietnam. In that movie it was also reported that his entire script was 'ad-libbed' when in fact, he did have a script to follow, but when he did his radio announcing scenes, that was truly Robin Williams doing what he does best.
Robin was such a legend he became his own myth. Thankfully for film and audio, that legend can be preserved forever and we will always have him with us because of it.

This is the first time I've been able to watch any of Robin Williams' work since he passed back in 2014...I was so saddened by 'the way' in which he chose to leave this earth, I literally couldn't bear to until now...From funny, to serious roles...He was a great talent.

I absolutely hear you. It was traumatic for fans, and I can only imagine how it was for his family and those who knew and loved him. It was mitigated by knowing what he was going through, but I was the same in largely shying away for the same reasons, until Covid hit, and various events brought me back to the need for laughter and positivity, him and this show (a kind of Patch Adams effect really!). He left a wonderful legacy, as a comedian and an actor, and thankfully that's widely recognized. This channel (which I honestly didn't expect any kind of audience on) was started from love of him and the show, and as a funny and fun way of getting away from the stress of RL, focusing on the corner on where it began, mostly as a much belated thank you to him, Pam and everyone involved.

The thing about Robin Williams adlibbing is that it seemed scripted; he was just that good. His ability to adlib a humorous response to other people speaking on just about any topic was uncanny. No one could come to matching his delivery speed.

    • @morkandmindy7826
      @morkandmindy7826  2 года назад +6

Absolutely! Uncanny is *the* perfect word for it. His speed of thought was insane, and he read voraciously so he had info at will on almost anything to draw on. The word genius gets bandied about a lot, but in case he really did operate on a genius level.

UNICO, IRREPETIBLE Y ETERNO!!!!🙏❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍🌟🌟🌟🌟

Qs a kid, I never missed an episode of Mork and Mindy. Saw him on Halpy Days as Mork. I followed his career as I grew up. Absolutely one of my favorite actors. He could fit almost any role. He never failed to make me laugh. And I really needed those laughs. I have severe depression, and when he passed, I was devastated. I still miss him so much. And when I found out how he died, and how down he was, I was shocked. I never knew. But I love that his legacy is still able to be watched and treasures, and when my depression gets to be more than I cane handle, all I have to do is turn on one of his movies, and I can spend a few hours forgetting mybpain and smiling from his performances. Plus he knocked it out of the park in Aladdin, that always makes me laugh.

Gooooood Morning Vietnam...Underrated humor playing a military DJ.
RW as DJ: "Hey, uh, hi. Can you help me? What's your name?"
RW as Caller: "My name's Roosevelt E. Roosevelt."
RW as DJ: "Roosevelt, what town are you stationed in? "
RW as Caller: "I'm stationed in Poontang."
RW as DJ: "Well, thank you, Roosevelt. What's the weather like out there?"
RW as Caller: "It's hot. Damn hot! Real hot!. Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking."
RW as DJ: "Well, can you tell me what it feels| like?"
RW as Caller: "Fool, it's hot! I told you again! It's hot. Damn hot! Real hot!
RW as Caller: "Were you born on the sun? It's damn hot!
RW as Caller: "I saw-- It's so damn hot, saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames."
RW as Caller: "It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talking about?"

Hey! Thanks! Some info comes from old interviews with the cast from vids/papers/magazines, and some from the 'Shooting' Scripts I had access to, which are the finalized scripts (3rd from 3 drafts) used on the day of shooting in front of the live audience. The stuff that appeared on screen that didn't appear in those scripts was largely adlibbed on the day. 😀
