Five Flies for September 2020 || South Platte River near Deckers

- For this month's edition of Five Flies, Trouts Denver Head Guide Scott Dickson joined Tanner Smith for a day on the South Platte near Deckers. This summer has been a warm one (and while we have a cold spell on the horizon), we're still seeing low flows throughout the state.
With that in mind, we headed to the Deckers section where water is a plenty and fishing has been super productive. This isn't the typical September and while the flies are more appropriate for the big water we're seeing on the South Platte, you can still get into great hopper-dropper & streamer fishing throughout the state where flows and water temperatures allow.

Awesome segment guys, keep up the good work!!
Always like the 5 flies. This one was funnier than the others. Keep the twists coming!
YOU ARE PERFECT GUYS! GOOD VIDEO
Excelente informacion... gracias por compartirla... 👍
500+ cfs for weeks down there on the Platte. I got knocked on my ass after stepping into a hole one fine 650cfs morning. Bug out by 10:30a or you have to start casting around all the folks floating by on tubes.
Was on the Yampa this weekend. 60cfs close enough to stagecoach you could throw a rock and hit the damn. Now that's a low flow...
Thanks for playing music that didn't suck. White Claw is to beer as San Juan worms are to flies.
White Claw and San Juan worms both work.
@@TroutsFlyFishing haha
Five beers...yup. That was a good addition.
I really liked the logo for this month
Great vid and music! Love the detailed fly info too. But, not sure, based on the beers you chose, if you should consider yourself connoisseurs, all light beers and White Claw- yikes! Sooo many local CO brews and breweries to highlight. Appreciate you guys- keep it up!
No question, IT'S ALWAYS COORS , but bourbon is KING!
Just sayin!
White claw isn't a beer
By far your best music for 5 flies. Oh, and White Claw is not beer. Man card removed!!
The search good royalty free music is a tough one! Glad you enjoyed this episode's music.
If I wanted a beer commercial, I'd have searched for a beer commercial.
what beer commercial has fly recommendations?
🔥Awesome Video as always! You guys should post like 5 Fishin videos a week!👍 Thx for sharing
Quality>quantity
@@liamgiardino Very true, I just love there content but I know it takes alot of work to produce such quality. Tight lines✌
I love the beed addition, very important! But also, could y'all add a fly that isn't geared towards nymphing? I'd be great to know what else they bite on for other rigs like swinging wet flies or even streamers near Deckers.
fair question re: streamers - but wait till Oct - they'll cover that for sure. If you want to catch fish, you'll throw nymphs. For wets- maybe try June in the afternoons (caddis emergence times).
Uhh...although I think the addition of 5 top beers to the list is a good idea, you guys really need to start drinking better beers. CO has some of the best micro-brews in the country that are much better, than say a White law. But you do you..oh yeah ..good selection of flies too!
Great flies, crappy beer, lol.
😂 Hamms?
Was just up in Breckenridge and fished Lower Mohawk and Blue River North of Breck. (StairSteps). It was a quick trip and didn’t really have time to fish a lot and I came up empty handed. Urban fishing isn’t my ideal location choice, but it’s what was available. Headed back in early Dec to fish Eleven Mile so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty New to fly fishing.
All fly fishing in co is urban any more
11 mile in December will be all about midges, attractors (worms, leeches, eggs), and blue-winged olives.
Great vid but please, guys, you gotta up your beer game.
One fly short of a six pack
Good point. That was an oversight.
Deeply Deeply disappointed in the fact that Modelo Especial wasn’t even mentioned....common Scotty D!!!!!
Which Winston are you using? Model, length, & weight? Thank you!
Scott was using the Winston Air 9ft 5wt. troutsflyfishing.com/products/winston-air-fly-rod
Miss those 24 Inch Pythons Brother!
Great video as usual! Beers??? No bud, cmon Colorado own Coors! White claw is NOT a beer... Thanks guys!
it's beer adjacent...cut tanner a little slack. He likes lime. 😂
