Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally!
angel goes on youtube you cowards
Once Buffy is done, should they put start Angel from season one on RUclips or pick up at season 5?
nah, twitch sucks
I love it when "Cassie" says Oh not it, Me. She proceeds to pull a Chesire Cat smile and exit, then the music rolls in. It is simply chilling.
Shout out to Dawn for pulling off an exorcist by her self, I love that for her.
well to be fair we dont know if worked, the whole thing was not real, thta was not her mother spirit, and theres no demon, it was all just a little play, just like with Willow
I think "pulling off an exorcist" will probably get you excommunicated :p
She was the ultimate scram queen in that episode.
Herself is one word. Please fix.
I loved Michelle's performance here.
Holden is another example of vampires keeping their human traits, yet at the same time being a demon who just has the memories.
He's one of the absolute best Single Episode characters in the series
That smile and laugh from Cassie as she slowly folds in on herself and disappears scared the absolute crap out of me as a teen when i watched it originally back in the day lol. Glad to see it still holds up. Great reaction from everyone at that part.
Four different writers:
Dawn/Joyce: Jane Espenson
Willow/Cassie: Marti Noxon
Buffy/Holden: Joss Whedon
The Trio: Drew Goddard
Only two were credited (not the showrunners). Love how different each story felt.
@@notoriouslybratty The Buffy and Angel writers rooms really were something special. Every member of those teams understood people far more than a vast majority of writers.
Jane Espenson went on to make Warehouse 13. First three seasons were the best!
I JUST realized Holden is the dead body/Private Tracey from the Firefly episode The Message!

This MF stole my pillow!
Interesting side note. Xander was originally meant to have a conversation with his dead friend Jesse from S1 E1, but they cut it.
Aww that could've been cool. They could've talked about how he's still just a normal guy deciding to fight demons.
I'm guessing the actor looked quite different from his dead self after 6 years
I think they were also going to have Anya in it too and have her vengeance demon friend Halfrek talk to her but I believe it was cut for time as well
It's also the only ever episode to not feature xander in it
@@sousaetern1276 It would've been, but there was nowhere to put it. What do you cut to make room?
That song playing in the opening and ending ...and this episode are fantastic. I love this season... rip jonathan

This is one of my favorite episodes this season. Poor Johnathan. He was the best of that trio.

Holy crap, you're right! 😱

@@rachelespiritu4215 Oh my god I never noticed that!
You guys have screamed louder at Buffy than this.
1. When Spike dreamed he was kissing Buffy for the first time.
2. When Giles returned to fight Dark Willow at end of season six.
We follow you, we watch, we enjoy reliving and sharing the reaction. 👍
When Tara was shot?
I'm so glad Pat was here for this episode, but I think Marketa had the most screams.
I think that's probably the first time anyone has ever said they're glad Pat was here for something.😂😮😅
Jonathan M. Woodward, who plays Holden Webster, was in Firefly... and another show you'll eventually see him in.
Oh yeah…
"When you can't run anymore, you crawl. And when you can't do that, well... Yeah, you know the rest." What an awesome episode.
I can’t believe I never made that connection!
Whedon has a recycling the same actors in multiple projects. "Holden Webster", the actor, will show up as another character in Angel.
Joss Whedon has a pretty strong tendency to use the same people in over and over.
This had a chilling start when it first aired since the date and time at the start was the real date and time! 😮😬 The whole episode is then told in real time, the only time skips being the commercials (like in 24).
This is one of my favorite episodes of this season. The vampire from this episode, I wished we had seen more of him.
Did you watch Angel?
@@johnb2422 yeah I saw that same actor in that show. I like the character here though
There’s no specific timeframe for awaking as a vampire after having been sired. It depends on the demon/person as to when their soul leaves and the demon takes over. Essentially the dead body awakens when the demon enters. It could be after burial, in the morgue, in the casket before the funeral, before the body is even found dead…whenever the demon sets up shop is when the dead body awakens and you have a vampire.
*Ghost haunts Dawn*
And she took that personally.
Marketa’s scream-reactions were excellent 😂😂 One of my favorite episodes, thanks for a great reaction yall. Editing is top tier as always.
When it comes to siring there doesn't seem to be any general rule, it simply looks to take different time for different people, the vast majority it takes enough time for them to be buried.
True. It's different for everybody. Pedro Pascal's Eddie took only about a day. And in S1, Jesse certainly wasn't buried between being bitten and changing.
One of the most memorable Buffy episodes. Some of my fav quotes from this episode:
"Buffy... I'm here to kill you, not to judge you."
"Oh, well, you know, not my God, because I defy him and all of his works. Does he exist? Is there word on that, by the way?"
aw maaan, this one is a CLASSIC, I remember watching it live on UPN and when the date and the time came up, I got chills. There had been a big BUZZ about this episode on the Buffy chat forums, and it lived up to the hype. Cassie back was especially cruel
The original idea was to bring Tara back, but Amber Benson wasn’t available at the time of the shooting, so they thought to have Cassie as an intermediary(and great choice in my opinion, as the actress managed to create a memorable character in just one episode)
@@RGLmasterpiece better choice
Azura Skye(Cassie) is an awesome actress.
She is. Also great in AHS: Murder House.
Waited ALL day to get off from work and come home to watch this reaction. So excited for this one.
Just finished and the reaction was nothing less than spectacular
What is cool about this last season is they been hinting at this for seasons.
Or are they just calling back to the previous seasons?
This episode is notorious for having four writers, each for every conversation scene and they all have different tones. Jane Espenson wrote the Dawn/Joyce classic horror scenes, Drew Goddard wrote the Nerds scenes, Marti Noxon wrote the Willow/Cassie dramatic/sad part and Whedon wrote the Buffy/Holden exchange
Fun fact, Amber Benson was asked to come back to reprise her role as Tara to be the one to conversate with Willow. But she declined to return, because she felt that having Tara be channeled by the first would be too cruel and would ruin the character.
Having just rewatched season 7, easily one of the best episodes in the entire show.
Pat stealing the pillow from behind Chris without saying anything just so he can hide behind it is so real 😭
This episode is a *banger* (and it's not the first time a 7th episode of a Buffy season is really really good). "Not it, me" gave me chills. And good on Willow for realising that wasn't really the ghost of that dead girl.
This is one of the best ep of Buffy. And its not only gives you an look into the future of this season but also explains what happened with Spike earlier in this season.
Yeppers. Top 10 for me as I have typed. The whole thing just, it is awesome.
Top 10 episode of Buffy
Also weirdly no Xander... Apparently they wanted to bring Jessie back for this ep but the actor was unavailable
I completely forgot about Xander 😮
Webs! He’s great. Love the guy.
Also Amber Benson was planned to return in this episode, but she didn’t want to come back due to a mix of factors. She had problems with an unnamed person on the set and also didn’t trust what Whedon would do with her character. Those two things on top of scheduling problems led to her opting not to return. That’s why they got Azura Skye (Cassie) instead.
Was never aware of her having problems with a person on set... So we never found out who that was, then?
@@MrMosteiros
As far as I know, no.
I mean, technically it wouldn't have been Tara, so not "her character" per se. And while I do think this is a great episode, I also do believe the whole part with Willow gets diminished because of this. Like, having "Tara" speaks to her instead of that random girl from a few episodes ago, it just doesn't hit the same, in my opinion...
It would be too much to see Tara in that context. Absolutely devastating. Especially saying the things she says through Cassie. I shudder even thinking about it.
@@Ren_Davis0531 I thought the "unnamed person on set" *was* Whedon?? I remember both she and Charisma spoke out a few years ago about the abuse they suffered at Whedon's hands.
This episode is a huge callback to saison 3 ep 10 "Amends" the first actually showed up in that episode.
It appear to Angel in the form of Jenny calendar when Angel is talking to Giles and then again at Angels house. It also starts changing into all of Angelus’ other victims, acting exactly like the first acted in season 7...
Yeah, things are about to get crazy! Make sure that Pat is there for EVERY episode!!! 🤣
Top 3 scariest episodes. Creepy shit
"why are they doing that scary shit?" umm....to scare you.
Andrew will always be one of my favourite characters though :D
I love seeing the couch hyped for this season. It's really good. Scary, action packed, tons of drama, tension, suspense. Obviously it's not the best season of Buffy. But I thought they did a good job sticking the landing.
And I love this Big Bad. How it can just really fuck with your head. Now THAT is a bad that I'm scared of. It's essentially a representation of PTSD. The silent killer.
I genuinely think early S7 is good stuff. It's the middle parts that are iffy and very dependent on the episode.
@@cajah88 Not all the episodes are gonna be bangers. Even prime Buffy (S3) there are some episodes I'm like "meh, can we get to the next one already".
But I get your point. The start of the season is really good and towards the end is pretty great too.
But damn, the middle part is when a certain someone becomes a comedic goldmine.
Love this episode
Yep it is in my top 10 for sure.
I’d like for y’all to broadcast (your reactions, obviously) the final season of Angel on RUclips…
Love the 988 shout out at the end of the discussion.
So important to highlight those services with content like this.
Holy shit, I had been waiting for ya'll to get to this one...
The burial is not required to make a vampire. The demon can emerge in the casket as we saw in S02E15 "Phases" or just right after the exchange of blood as we have seen in S03E12 "Helpless" when the vampire, staged by the council to test buffy in her 18s BD, just waited a moment until his offer woke up as a vampire and freed him.
Conversations With Dead People was a great episode and continues the build up to final. Cassie is of course not real, and plays psychological games by taking on the persona of dead people and getting under the skin of all the living trying to turn them on each other, with Joyce returning as well to appear to Dawn. Willow eventually sees that is not Cassie. The interesting thing about this episode was it was also trying to show how Charlatan Mediums can manipulate the living missing loved ones and pretending to speak to them. Revelations too with Spikes actions, and the the reappearance of the dead Warren, and the death of Jonathan. Some good work from Spidey there making the connection with S7 E1 and all the the past characters talking to Spike at the end, they along with Joyce, Cassie and Warren all have something in common, as does an episode from S3. It will all make sense soon, it really is fantastic writing.
that dissapearing inside her mouth is sick, even now its so unsettling to see even as an adult.
18:45 watching this live as it happened is the same reaction.
One of the writer's ideas for Dawn was that because of her key powers she had the ability to speak with spirits. This episode was an example of that... But they never really went anywhere with it.
They don’t know where things are or are not heading, let them enjoy the ride without spoiling the arc of the characters. There’s only one opportunity to watch Buffy for the first time. Let them also be wondering as we did years ago. Be mindful in your comments.
Spike chip
On the mark reactions. Solid and entertaining. I understand that many Buffy viewers take issues with aspects with this last season. My group did at first but we realized that most of the nit picking and negative reactions are mostly because this great story is coming to the end. It’s a similar reaction to a fantastic action movie. Buffy has been an epic story that needs to finish in about 16 hours of real time television. The challenge is to create challenging entertainment, consistent character development, and end a show that has forged a bond with the audience. Meanwhile don’t forget the purpose of showing Buffy becoming a strong, independent, emotionally strong loving woman that by the way is a morally superior hero. Take away the past feelings and view these final stories has the final act , then the Season does a difficult job successfully. Keep up the fantastic job you have accomplished and enjoy the rest of the journey.
Remember this episode because everything comes into play later on.
One of the best episodes from Buffy season 7 👍
Love this episode for Dawn. Always felt like this was her true 'Scooby initiation' since she held her own pretty damn well.
Remember "Never Kill A Boy"? Vampire turned in the morgue within 24 hours of dying!
This episode was AMAZING! To watch when it aired. Never had an exact date been given, and obviously it was the date it aired so it immediately felt special and everything from the opening, title, & story are so perfect & memorable! Couldn’t wait for you guys to get here
One of my top 3 episodes.
Suraj: "Why are they doing this scary shit!?"
Buffy, a Horror Series: "Have you MET ME!?"
Best episode of season 7! Also the only episode of the whole show without Xander. They tried to get the actor who played Jesse back, but he wasn't available. They tried to get Tara for the scene with Willow too, but Amber Benson didn't want this to be the audience's last impression of Tara. It didn't hurt our impression of Joyce!
One of the best episodes from the entire seventh season which was generally stronger in the first half than the second.
love this reaction lmao marketa's scream at the smile part was so real
One of my favorite episode reactions. That was some real horror movie emotional damage stuff.
As for how long it takes for someone to turn into a vampire, I like the theory that it depends on how much blood their sire gave them to drink back, like just dose them if you want them vamped up asap.
19:04 might be the singlest greatest group moment in Normies history lol
In season 3 ep 12, Helpless", Kralik the vampire sires watcher's council flunky. No casket, no grave, no dirt, just right out in the open. When Drusilla re-sires Darla over on Angel, I think they make a point of getting buried in the dirt sort of being sentimental, but it's been a while since I saw that. At beginning of season 6, Spike talks about knowing what it's like to dig yourself out of your own grave (after seeing Buffy's bloody knuckles), so presumably Drusilla (or Darla or Angulus) buried him?
So it's either a little more inconsistent, or maybe a matter of circumstance and preference from who's involved.
Such a great episode and an excellent setup for the rest of the season. I don't think Season 7 gets as much credit as it deserves.
I agree.
Rest of the season is nowhere near as good.
Vampire resurrection is like zombie infection resurrection. It's different from person to person, and it happens when the writers need it to.
In Joyce's death episode there was a vampire who resurrected in the hospital morgue.
If you want to handwave it:
The victim has to drink the vampire's blood to turn into a vampire. Maybe more blood equals faster turning time.
sleeper is another good episode. don't want to spoil too much but the big bad declared war a long time ago in season 3 an episode around angel or should i say agelous
As someone else said, there's no time frame for when you wake up as a vampire. To become a vampire, a vampire has to suck your blood, but you have to suck a vampire's blood, too. You also have to be close to death. When you die, you soul leaves your body and a demon sets up shop in your body and you're, essentially, a new person with the previous owners memories and imprinted personality that the demon assimilates. After that, it's just a matter of the demon taking possession. Could be a few hours. Could be a day. Could be a few days. Once the demon sets up shop, the body will probably regenerate from the embalming process and the hunger will be twice as much if all the remaining blood is drained from the body (which is why, often, most new vampires are almost feral). They tell us this right from the pilot when Buffy finds the dead body in the locker. Giles says, "Will he rise?" and Buffy replies. "No, he's just dead." And he says, "How can you be sure?" And she quips, "To make you a vampire they have to suck your blood and you have to suck their blood. It's this whole sucking thing. But mostly? They're gonna kill ya." But the show never addresses a time frame.
As for Angel and the "madness", his madness in season 3 wasn't because of his soul. He was tortured in a hell dimension that Acathla was going to send the world into, so he lost his mind because of them. He was wracked with guilt the first time he got a soul. Angel covers that period in his life on his show during season 2, 3, and 4. He tries to push his "good" urges down because he's a demon, too, but that, ultimately, doesn't work out. His soul wins out and his guilt is too much. Spike's story, though, is a much different journey. You shouldn't compare the two side by side. They both have very different circumstances when it comes to their souls (and very different terms and conditions). Angel's is a curse. Spike's was a choice. What's happening to him now? You'll have to wait and see. ;) Happy viewing! Love seeing y'alls reactions.
This is my favorite episode of S7 BTVS. Who am I kidding? I ❤ them all!
This is a top tier episode. Probably in my top 10 episode of all times.
Here ends the "episode 7s" of Buffy. There's nothing quite like an episode 7!
This whole episode is just fire!! Love the conversation between Buffy and Holden, so true but they make it funny so it isn't so damn tragic
This may be my favorite episode 7 of the series (or the musical), it's endlessly rewatchable. And they say Andrew is completely unredemable but we'll see. I can't wait for them to get to him with the group and the "Storyteller" episode, which is fanstastic!!
Fun fact: Xander was going to have a story in this episode where he talks with jesse
Random I know but this episode is a good demonstration of why Dawn acts so “young”-making foolish decisions, not really understanding consequences and making silly errors that a 15 year old should know better about. It’s also the reason she doesn’t leave the house which is obviously haunted. She’s been extremely sheltered by Buffy. She’s barely ever been instructed on how to handle things by herself.

the fact he had to die always found it stupid like he literally could have been a another angel type character
I DON'T KNOW HOW OR WHO IN THE NORMIES WATCH THE ANGEL TV SHOW, SO THERE IS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 OF THAT SHOW
RIP Jonathan!
Each section was written by a differernt writer. My favorite is the Buffy section (Willow is second, The trio is third and Dawn is fourth with Spike being last [if you can call Spike part of the stories in that kind of way I was referencing] because I think this is the episode where she gets to/and deals with her core issue: Lonliness. Everything Cordelia stated to Buffy in the eleventh episode about being alone and about how being surrounded by people makes it better, but still doesn't make the feeling go away - while being Cordelia's starting point to character development for Cordelia - was Buffy's core issue.
I loved that they started this episode without an intro (or bypassed the intro for later, as it were). Something about it felt appropriate for _Conversations with Dead People._
Buffy being the slayer doesn't make her superior. What makes her superior is the fact that she like she is beneath them while still knowing that as a slayer their is a superiority complex about being better than them, but has an inferiority complex about it aka she hates herself for feeling that way. That is what makes her better. This episode shows more growth than any character in the series so far for being able to admit that.
I found it interesting that The Normies, as a group found something in the show scary, rather than all laughing.
The screen word are correct. This episode was 2 years before Facebook and 3 years before RUclips.
Yes Spike is a vampire Rana.
Marketa's reaction to "It" smiling was great for the reaction video. So were all the the others, but hers was top notch. But then Chris wanting a rewatch and it being played in slowmo beat her reaction out.
In the TV Show _Angel,_ Wesley says explicitly to the team after Drusilla turns Darla that from the death of the vmpire until the second sunup after said death by vampire, the person who was bit will just be a dead body and can rise anytime thereafter. That is why so many people in Sunnydale are missing. They die and are vampires befoe they are laid to rest in cemetaries. People who don't know about the mythology in Sunnydale have been seen to unconsciously realize funerals have to be done quickly when they happen if people in the know say they need to.
One of my fav episodes of Buffy. Top 10 tier.
I don't remember all the episode titles of the last season, but I always remember this one because it was so disturbing! Especially the Dawn scenes. *shudders
I might be in the minority in this but this is actually my favorite episode in this season! Definitely in my top 5 of the entire series :)
I love episodes like this. It’s kinda slow-moving and introspective in a way. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the action and the fighting sequences, but it’s always fun to lay back, settle in, and just watch it unfold right before your eyes.
A few fun facts:
1. Xander was originally supposed to be in this episode and we were actually supposed to have a cameo of Jesse (Willow and Xander’s best friend back in season 1), but unfortunately, they had to cut it off due to the timing and pacing of the episode AND because the actor was unavailable at the time. It would’ve been interesting to see how Xander’s hatred for vampires (specifically towards Spike and Angel) originated.
2. Tara was supposed to be in this episode, too. But Amber Benson didn’t want her final appearance to be “not the real Tara”.
3. Also, Anya was supposed to have a scene where she is haunted by Halfrek, but the actress was busy.
Although, I have to admit that this episode would have been one of, if not THE best Buffy episode if these missing scenes actually took place. (yes, even more so than OMWF but that’s just my opinion)
Finally, Jonathan’s death was actually pretty surprising to me (I even screamed) because he was a character who has been there since nearly the beginning! And I was so sad when that happened. Super unexpected!!!
Anyway, we're in the endgame now, folks! THIS is the turning point. THIS is the episode where things finally and officially start picking up!!! Enjoy the ride because it's only going to get crazier from here on out :)
This is one of the best episodes of the series, for real. Love the opening song, great narrative, awesome episode
One of my all time favourite episodes.
The show is called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. What were you expecting, vibes, essays?
Fantastic episode. Genius the way it knits together and love the song that plays at the start and end
For siring, I always figured it was down to the vampire who did it, lots of the random vamps we see have no organisation, barely seem to know what's up with being a vampire beyond "need to drink blood, avoid the sun, etc" and I figure that's cause the vamp that sired them didn't give a crap, just did it, either by accident or just not caring, the body gets found and the usual stuff happens, Buffy stabs them with a piece of wood in the mortuary or coming out of the grave as we see a lot in the early seasons or she kills them a few weeks after they come up and are doing what they do. The ones that manage to live longer and form into little gangs and stuff are a bit smarter or were sired in a more prepared fashion, the vamp doing it actually knew what to do and put some effort in.
Then you get ones like the Master > Darla > Angel > Drusilla > Spike line where they actually are like a weird little family and each one properly sired the next, both in the mechanical sense but they also actually took them in and taught them. That said, there're points where the process of someone getting bitten, blood getting exchanged and vamp coming back up is like, hours and others where it takes a week or whatever so you could say different vamps have different rates or whatever, the real answer is it's just a tv show and a bit inconsistent.
oh shit, i completely forgot all the stuff with joyce and dawn until her voice came thru on the radio! the end with cassie's smile is burned into my brain 22 years later but i might have fully blocked out how fucking scary the haunting was. i haven't really revisited season 7 beyond the finale. using joyce like that was diabolical and i'm not talking about the big bad. the writers were on one that week.
Another fantastic episode.
In this episode, the scenes with Willow were supposed to be with Tara but they couldn't get the actress back
One of my favorites of season 7. So well written and I was so happy to see Cassie back too.
Oh I've been waiting for this one.
The thing that none of you noticed. Why can Spike bite anyone at all? He's got a chip in his head that has never been removed. How is it possible??!!
they noticed
They talkes a lot about it at the end
Spike killed that Ted Talk lady Brene Brown. That just goes to show you, vulnerability just gets you killed
"Maybe she's a week behind" never change Pat. Ok maybe a little 😅
Where shit gets real.
Dawnie goes it alone and I LOVE IT! She's a regular John McClane/MacGyver!
Chris is a good man. Lol
Keep in mind, just because someone is evil doesn't mean they aren't telling the truth. Holden Webster could have lied to Buffy about Spike to sike her out, but we immediately saw that he was being honest. What other things might be true?
Also vampires wake up all the time on Buffy long before they are buried, like in the funeral home or even the morgue - remember the vampire in the morgue the episode that Joyce died? It's different for every vampire. Most seem to need longer to bake and wake up in the casket.
The siring timeline / conditions are even less consistent than you may have thought. For example, in Helpless, the crazy vampire makes himself a minion in fairly short order.
Definitely something you're just not supposed to think overly much about.
