hey, i have one question! how do you know if your real wax up is the same in size in compare of digital wax up ? do you have some good reference points?
your question was "real wax up size vs digital size" and the answer was "golden proportion". You need the digital smile design to get the correct tooth shape for the patients' face.
Using previous photos added up to reference points in the face, also using DSD metrics wich represents 1:1 size to real life. You can adjust the ruler size inside the DSD software to match real life tooth size, after this is done, all those new measures are transfered to reference points in stone model, so you can wax it to the right new measures. Also we always try to use golden proportion, but sometimes we need to match the tooth shape according to patient’s face shape, gingival zenith, tooth size, there are many other factors...

+Jsvlad js This is in Brazil. We call it a Mock-Up and is just a kind of test-drive, so the patient can see how it will look and agree or not to go on with the treatment. Also, the dentist can evaluate if the form, occlusion and everything else is ok; if not, the dentist can adjust it before doing the permanent treatment (most likely ceramic veneers). The patient can go home with it, but this will break and fall apart in one week or so.

Virgílio Cavalcante In english, it is bisacryl resin. It is branded under various names by different manufacturers (i.e., Luxatemp, Integrity, etc.).
